Abstract

This study examines how ICT infrastructure, digital adaptation, digital pedagogical competence, and transformational leadership contribute to junior high school teachers’ professionalism, with particular attention to the selective moderating role of transformational leadership. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed. Quantitative data were obtained from 342 teachers, of which 301 screened responses were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The qualitative phase involved eight structured interviews with teachers and school leaders, which were analyzed thematically to explain significant, nonsignificant, and directionally unexpected statistical relationships. The model explained 62.9% of the variance in teacher professionalism. Digital adaptation (β = 0.304, p < 0.001) and transformational leadership (β = 0.328, p < 0.001) had significant positive effects, whereas ICT infrastructure and digital pedagogical competence were not significant predictors. Transformational leadership strengthened the relationship between digital adaptation and professionalism (β = 0.197, p = 0.005), attenuated the relationship between ICT infrastructure and professionalism (β = −0.202, p = 0.006), and did not significantly moderate the relationship between digital pedagogical competence and professionalism. The study’s novelty lies in proposing a selective adaptive-leadership mechanism that demonstrates how leadership can activate teachers’ adaptive capacity, reduce reliance on resource differences, or leave competence-based pathways unchanged, rather than uniformly strengthening all digital antecedents. Practically, the findings support continuous adaptive learning, instructional mentoring, collaborative professional development, and leadership-supported implementation routines. The findings are limited by the cross-sectional self-reported design, incomplete discriminant validity, small interaction effects, a limited number of qualitative participants, and a single urban educational context.

Abstract

This study aims to explain why trust is necessary in inter-organizational logistics relationships and to identify the factors that support and inhibit its formation in the Indonesian context. A qualitative case study was conducted at FAB Enterprises. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with one logistics manager, one business partner, and two operational staff members, complemented by observations of interaction patterns. Informants were purposively selected for their direct involvement in inter-organizational relationships, partnership decisions, and coordination processes. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis through familiarisation, coding, theme development, review, definition, and interpretation. Trust emerged as a multidimensional construct combining cognitive elements—competence, reliability, consistency, and predictability—with affective elements such as mutual respect, interpersonal comfort, and relational closeness. Trust developed through repeated interactions, transparent communication, consistent performance, responsiveness, and accumulated experience. Reputation, recommendations, clear agreements, and shared goals accelerated early trust, whereas inconsistent performance, poor communication, lack of transparency, delays, broken commitments, and unmet expectations weakened trust. The Indonesian context further showed that informal relationships, harmony, and mutual respect complement formal contractual mechanisms. The findings indicate that trust operates simultaneously as a relational outcome, a governance mechanism, and a strategic intangible resource. Logistics managers should therefore combine formal safeguards with continuous relational practices, especially transparent communication, reliable performance, and relationship-building. The study contributes a context-sensitive explanation of how trust is formed and sustained in emerging-market inter-organizational logistics relationships.

Abstract

Water is the most important substance for human life. Population growth and development increase the demand for water. In terms of water quantity, its availability remains stable due to the hydrological cycle, but in terms of water quality. This study aims to determine water availability, water needs, and the status of water carrying capacity in Klungkung Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection uses primary data collected directly in the field through surveys, interviews, and field observations, and secondary data derived from the results of similar studies, statistical data, and government reports and other institutional sources. The results of the study indicate that, based on water availability in Klungkung Regency, which consists of average annual rainfall, surface water availability, and groundwater availability, in general, the water carrying capacity status in Klungkung Regency from 2021 to 2030 is a deficit. If surface water is added to groundwater reserves, the water-carrying capacity will still be in deficit, although the deficit is quite small. This means that all sub-districts in mainland Klungkung experience a surface water deficit. Meanwhile, the surface water carrying capacity index for Nusa Penida District in 2018 was 1.06, indicating a surplus. To increase the water-carrying capacity in Klungkung Regency, efforts are needed to lift water that flows directly into the sea, such as the Unda River and the Melangit River, as an alternative to meet the water-carrying capacity in Klungkung Regency.

Abstract

Social Studies learning in elementary schools is intended not only to help students understand social concepts but also to provide experiences in cooperation, responsibility, caring, appreciation, and communal life. This study aimed to develop a Ngadhu Bhaga-based Social Studies supplementary book for second-grade elementary school students and to determine the product’s feasibility and initial practicality. The study employed Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, comprising Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected through needs-analysis interviews, expert validation, observation, documentation, and product trials. Validation was conducted by a subject-matter expert, an instructional-design expert, a media expert, and a language expert. The individual trial involved three students, while the small-group trial involved five students. Qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, whereas quantitative data were analyzed using feasibility percentages. The results showed feasibility percentages of 100% from the subject-matter expert, 98.61% from the instructional-design expert, 98.33% from the media expert, and 100% from the language expert. The trials indicated that the book was easy to read and understand, attractive, and usable in learning activities. The novelty of the product lies in positioning Ngadhu Bhaga not merely as cultural content but as a pedagogical context that connects Social Studies concepts, students’ social experiences, and social values. The product can serve as supplementary material for more contextual and culturally responsive Social Studies learning.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) constitutes a major global health burden among older adults, necessitating exploration of adjunctive therapeutic strategies. Costus igneus, commonly known as the insulin plant, contains bioactive compounds, including corosolic acid and diosgenin, which have demonstrated hypoglycemic effects by enhancing insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake in preclinical studies. This study evaluated the effects of Costus igneus tea consumption on fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels in older adults with T2DM. A community-based quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group study was conducted in Gorontalo, Indonesia. A total of 156 older adults (≥60 years) with T2DM were assigned to an intervention group (n=78), receiving Costus igneus tea twice daily for 30 days alongside standard antidiabetic medication, and a control group (n=78) receiving standard medication alone. FBG was measured at baseline, day 15, and day 30. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests, independent t-tests, and repeated-measures ANOVA. The intervention group demonstrated a significant reduction in FBG from 198.37±32.45 to 156.21±28.73 mg/dL (p<0.001; 21.3% decrease), with a significant time×group interaction (F=24.67, p<0.001). Costus igneus tea may serve as a complementary intervention for glycemic management; however, the quasi-experimental design limits causal inference and warrants confirmation through randomized controlled trials.

Abstract

This study aimed to design and develop Moodle features integrated with the ethnoscience-based LOC-R model to support andragogy in fostering critical thinking skills. The novelty of the study lies in integrating Moodle with the four stages of the LOC-R model (Literacy, Orientation, Collaboration, and Reflection) while incorporating the ethnoscience content of Mpa’a Gantao  martial arts as a contextual learning resource. This integration addresses the limited application of multiple andragogical principles and the LOC-R model reported in previous studies. The research adopted the first three stages of the Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) model: preliminary study, planning and goal setting, and product development with feasibility evaluation. Validation data were collected using 5-point rating scales and analyzed using Aiken's V at both the item and aspect levels. The findings show that the developed Moodle feature has high content validity based on expert assessments (material: V = 0.83; media: V = 0.90), indicating that it is suitable for implementation in the field. This study is limited to expert validation and does not include field testing with students; therefore, the product's effectiveness in improving critical thinking skills has not been empirically proven. Future research should evaluate its effectiveness through experimental studies and test this model across various physics topics and ethnoscience contexts to strengthen its generalizability.

Abstract

Mental health problems among university students are increasing, while stigma and limited access to professional services often delay help-seeking. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based screening tools may provide an accessible approach for early mental health detection. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and reliability of Gemini AI for mental health screening within Indonesia’s SATU SEHAT framework. A pilot cross-sectional diagnostic accuracy study was conducted among 63 undergraduate students. Participants completed mental health screening using both Gemini AI and the SATU SEHAT platform. Diagnostic performance was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), overall accuracy, and Cohen’s Kappa coefficient. Gemini AI demonstrated excellent discriminative ability with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.957 (95% CI: 0.89–1.00). Sensitivity was 86.36%, specificity 97.56%, PPV 95.00%, NPV 93.02%, and overall accuracy 93.65%. Agreement with the SATU SEHAT reference standard was almost perfect (Cohen’s Kappa = 0.857, p < 0.001). Gemini AI showed high diagnostic accuracy and reliability for early mental health screening. These findings suggest that AI-assisted screening may complement existing digital mental health services by supporting early identification of individuals at risk and providing a foundation for larger validation studies.

Abstract

Interactive learning media remain unevenly adopted in the compulsory Indonesian language course at the tertiary level, and existing Wizer.me research is confined to school settings and small development samples. This study quantifies the gap between students' perceptions of the media currently used and their perceptions of a proposed Project-Based Learning (PjBL) medium built on Wizer.me, and examines whether that gap varies by disciplinary cluster. A descriptive quantitative cross-sectional survey was administered to 384 first-semester students from six faculties, drawn from a population of approximately 9,600 through eligibility-based screening with proportional allocation by faculty. The instrument comprised 20 four-point Likert-scale items across two constructs, was validated by three experts (Content Validity Index 0.83), and was pilot tested (Cronbach's Alpha 0.89 and 0.92). Data were analyzed in SPSS 26.0 using means, standard deviations, class-interval categorization, a pooled-variance effect size, and thematic coding of open responses. Current media scored 2.15 (low) and the proposed medium 3.35 (very high), a gap of 1.20 with a very large effect size (d = 1.60). The gap widened to 1.56 among Engineering students and narrowed to 1.08 among Social and Political Sciences students. Five prioritized needs emerged: interactivity, multimedia integration, flexible access, collaboration, and real-time feedback. The novelty lies in showing that demand for interactive media is discipline-differentiated rather than uniform. The implication is that platform rollouts supporting SDG 4 targets 4.3, 4.4, and 4.7 should be sequenced by disciplinary cluster rather than deployed identically across faculties.
