Abstract

General practitioners play a crucial role in the delivery of healthcare services in public hospitals, where limited organizational resources and high service demands often place significant pressure on medical personnel. These conditions may disturb work–life balance, increase the risk of burnout syndrome, and ultimately lead to higher turnover intention. This study aimed to analyze the effect of work–life balance on turnover intention, with burnout syndrome acting as an intervening variable among general practitioners at RSUD Balaraja. An observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was applied, involving all 40 general practitioners working in the emergency department and inpatient units through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using standardized instruments, namely the Work–Life Balance Scale, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and the Intention to Quit Questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman correlation and Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results revealed a significant relationship between work–life balance and burnout syndrome, as well as between work–life balance and turnover intention. Burnout syndrome was also significantly associated with turnover intention. Further analysis showed that work–life balance had both direct and indirect effects on turnover intention, with burnout syndrome partially mediating this relationship. In conclusion, work–life balance and burnout syndrome are important determinants of turnover intention among general practitioners. Therefore, hospital management should prioritize strategies such as workload regulation, enhanced organizational support, and burnout prevention to retain medical staff and maintain the quality of healthcare services in public hospitals.

Abstract

Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) is a common complaint among adolescent girls and often disrupts school activities. Limited understanding of its causes and appropriate self-care practices contributes to the persistence of symptoms. This study examined the effect of dysmenorrhea health education on improving knowledge among female students at SMK Pasundan Jatinangor. A method A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was used in this study. A total of 42 students participated and completed a dysmenorrhea knowledge questionnaire before and after a 60-minute educational session delivered through presentation media and group discussion. The results were analyzed descriptively to observe changes in knowledge levels. Resulted The intervention produced a notable improvement in students’ knowledge. The proportion of participants with good knowledge increased from 45.2% at pretest to 73.8% at posttest, while those in the low-knowledge category decreased substantially. Participants demonstrated clearer understanding of dysmenorrhea symptoms, contributing factors, and simple management strategies. Dysmenorrhea education effectively enhanced students’ knowledge at SMK Pasundan Jatinangor. Regular reproductive-health education programs in schools are recommended to support adolescents in managing menstrual discomfort independently and appropriately.

Abstract

Acne (Acne vulgaris) is one of the most common skin problems, affecting 80–85% of adolescents aged 15–18 years, with some cases persisting into adulthood. One of the associated bacteria is Staphylococcus epidermidis, a normal skin flora that can become an opportunistic pathogen. Bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are known to contain secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and essential oils with antibacterial activity. This study aimed to formulate ethanol extract of bay leaves into ointments with concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%, test their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis using the disc diffusion method, and evaluate their physical quality (organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, and spreadability). Results showed that the ethanol extract of bay leaves contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The ointments met topical quality standards with pH 5.8–6.9, adhesion time 36–41 seconds, and spreadability 6.9–8.1 cm. Antibacterial activity increased with higher concentrations: 7.8 mm (10%), 12 mm (20%), and 15 mm (30%), although still lower than the positive control (clindamycin, 34 mm). In conclusion, ethanol extract of bay leaves has potential as an active ingredient in topical anti-acne ointments, but further studies with higher concentrations, in vivo testing, and optimized formulations are needed to achieve efficacy comparable to synthetic antibiotics.

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem with continuously increasing prevalence and mortality. This condition is characterized by a progressive and irreversible decline in kidney function, which is clinically assessed using the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) as one of the main parameters for staging and monitoring disease progression. Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a hematological parameter that reflects the degree of variation in erythrocyte size. In patients with CKD, elevated RDW levels are often associated with oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, which may accelerate kidney damage and increase mortality risk. To analyze the correlation between RDW and eGFR values in patients with chronic kidney disease at ODSK Hospital, North Sulawesi Province. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross‑sectional approach. It was conducted retrospectively using secondary data from the medical records of CKD patients at ODSK Hospital, North Sulawesi Province, from February 2024 to August 2025. This study used a total sampling method with 189 CKD patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.  Based on Spearman-rank correlation analysis, the p‑value obtained was 0.129 (>0.05). There was no significant relationship between RDW and eGFR values in CKD patients at ODSK Hospital, North Sulawesi.Province.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global health problem characterized by increased blood glucose levels. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) accounts for 90-95% of all diabetes cases and is characterized by insulin resistance. Persistent hyperglycemia in patients with T2DM increases the risk of various complications, including renal dysfunction. Therefore, monitoring HbA1c levels is important for assessing long-term glycemic control and preventing complications, one of which is impaired kidney function that can be detected through increased blood creatinine levels. To analyze the relationship between HbA1c levels and blood creatinine levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at RSUD ODSK North Sulawesi Province. This study used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. This study was retrospective using secondary data in the form of medical record data for the period February 2024-August 2025. This study used a total sampling method with 71 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The findings showed that the majority of patients had HbA1c levels >6,5%, while most blood creatinine levels were within the normal range. Based on the results of the Spearman-Rank correlation test, a significance value of 0.040 (p-value <0.05) was obtained. There is a significant relationship between HbA1c levels and blood creatinine levels, with a negative correlation strength in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUD ODSK North Sulawesi Province.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global public health problem and is one of the leading causes of death after HIV/AIDS. This disease has a high transmission rate, especially among children. This study aims to identify and analyze the determinants contributing to the incidence of tuberculosis in children based on previous studies. The method used was a literature review, which analyzed scientific articles related to the determinants of TB in children. Articles were searched through databases such as Google Scholar, Crossref, and Sinta using related keywords. Of the five articles that met the inclusion criteria, it was found that a history of contact with an adult TB patient was the main factor in transmission in children. Children are highly susceptible to contracting TB germs transmitted through droplets from coughing or talking. In addition, BCG immunization can provide protection against TB infection in children by developing antibodies. A scoring system was used to examine the history of contact in children at risk. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between history of contact and the incidence of TB in children. Therefore, it is important for adult TB sufferers who live with children to practice preventive behaviors, such as cough etiquette, wearing masks, and proper phlegm disposal.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of affective audio consisting of music and emotional narration on emotional changes among junior high school students at Al-Andalusia Orphanage Foundation, Pela Mampang. Adolescence is a developmental period characterized by emotional fluctuations influenced by academic, social, and environmental demands, highlighting the need for simple and accessible emotional regulation interventions. This research employed a quasi-experimental method using a pretest–posttest control group design. A total of 30 junior high school students participated in the study and were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 15) and a control group (n = 15). The experimental group received affective audio exposure for 5–7 minutes, while the control group did not receive any treatment. Emotional states were measured using the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), which assesses positive and negative affect. Data were analyzed using a paired samples t-test. The results indicated a decrease in emotional scores in the experimental group after the intervention; however, the difference was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Nevertheless, the effect size for the experimental group was in the moderate range, suggesting a meaningful practical effect of affective audio on students’ emotional states. These findings indicate that affective audio has potential as a light emotional intervention, although future studies with stronger methodological designs are recommended.

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial period where individuals begin to build their self-identity in determining the direction of their lives, especially in grade XII students. Where this condition often causes anxiety, self-doubt, feelings of boredom, and social pressure, one important aspect that influences an individual's ability to adapt and resilience to these challenges is self-efficacy. Someone with high self-efficacy is usually more optimistic, resilient, and able to overcome challenges to achieve their goals. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of expressive writing techniques in improving self-efficacy. Participants in this study were 34 students, who were divided into two groups, namely the control group and the experimental group. The experimental group was given treatment in the form of expressive writing. This study used a Quasi-Experimental research type with a Two-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data analysis used in this study was processed using Jamovi software. While the data analysis method used was the paired test and independent sample T-Test. Based on the results of the analysis of the pretest and posttest scores of the experimental group, a significant value of 0.280 (p> 0.05) was shown, which means there was no significant difference in the level of students' self-efficacy after treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that expressive writing treatment can improve students' self-efficacy.
