Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of the Aru Islands Regency Education and Culture Service in responding to the duties and responsibilities of teachers at Aru Island 3 Christian Middle School. This research method is a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research show that the Aru Islands Regency Education and Culture Service has a role in providing education, therefore every existing problem must be paid attention to and considered fairly and evenly in each educational unit. The Department of Education and Culture plays a role in managing the budget to support education, of which 20% of the funding goes to non-physical matters such as salaries and allowances, while the remaining 10% is funding for office needs or funding for accompanying programs in educational development. Then the Department of Education and Culture plays the role of supervisor and supervisor in improving the discipline of teachers' duties and responsibilities. The Education Service has the right to obtain reports on teaching and learning activities, monitor supervision, recapitulate attendance, provide guidance for teachers who violate the rules. So the evaluation carried out by the Education and Culture Service regarding what was found then implemented Android-based attendance, then carried out joint control with the PP Unit, Village Head and Religious Leaders over teachers in the Village. From the role played by the Department of Education and Culture, there are several inhibiting factors for teachers in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, namely geographical location, sea transportation, natural conditions, limited teacher housing, salary income, and internet networks. The inhibiting factor that teachers face is adapting to existing circumstances, this variable can control behavior. This is supported by the Teacher Work Discipline Theory according to Hamza Uno and Nina Lamatenggo 2016. In examining the variable approach to work discipline according to Kelvin Seifert, there is a humanism approach (based on responsibility), a negotiation approach (intervention assistance), and a behavior modification approach (assessing cause and effect)

Abstract

The use of medicinal plants as a form of traditional medicine has a long history in Indonesia. The country's diverse population, comprising numerous tribes, cultures, and belief systems, has resulted in a rich tapestry of practices and traditions surrounding the use of medicinal plants. Several evaluations have shown that anticoagulant drugs have weaknesses, one of which is the use of heparin, which has the side effect of causing bleeding. The above side effects and problems of anticoagulant treatment cause the importance of finding alternative anticoagulant treatments made from natural ingredients that can safely prolong blood clotting time. Researchers employ reverse pharmacology and observational therapeutics to identify novel compounds in herbal sources, thereby facilitating the discovery of new drugs. This study aims to test the anticoagulant activity of wedang empon extract to provide scientific evidence regarding its utilization by the community. The anticoagulant activity test was performed in vitro using the blood smear method on blood smears treated with Wedang Empon extract 300µl, 400 µl, and 500 µl. The results showed that anticoagulant activity of extract wedang empon was suggested at volume 500 µL, which was characterized by the morphology of blood cells, the shape intact and contact separated from one to another.

Abstract

Domestic Violence is defined as any act against an individual, especially women, resulting in physical, sexual, psychological suffering, or neglect, including threats of such acts, coercion, or unlawful deprivation of freedom within the household context. The issues addressed in this research are the obstacles in providing protection for victims of domestic violence based on decision number 81/Pid.Sus/2023/PN Liw, and the efforts to ensure legal protection for these victims according to the same decision. The research methodology utilizes a normative juridical approach, which involves examining applicable laws, and an empirical approach, which includes field observations and interviews to address the research problems. Based on the research findings, the obstacles in enforcing the law to protect victims include limited resources such as personnel and facilities. Additionally, victims often hesitate to report incidents due to a desire to maintain relationships with the perpetrators or due to shame related to family honor. Factors such as anxiety and difficulty in reporting incidents, even when they recur, contribute to the challenge. Issues like embarrassment, fear, and trauma hinder effective protection for victims. Protection efforts include police actions to ensure safety and escort victims to safer locations, coordination by the prosecution with police, witness and victim protection agencies, and health institutions to ensure victims receive protection and recovery support. Courts issue protection orders prohibiting perpetrators from approaching or contacting victims and may order separation of living arrangements as an additional protective measure. Recommendations from the author include: Enhancing cooperation among government agencies such as the police, prosecution, courts, health institutions, and witness and victim protection agencies. Good coordination will ensure victims receive comprehensive protection and support. There is a need to improve resources, including personnel, budgets, and facilities for relevant agencies to provide adequate protection for domestic violence victims. Adequate resources will enable maximal protection and support for victims. Law enforcement should broaden public awareness of domestic violence, challenge societal stigma, and emphasize the importance of reporting perpetrators. Victims require ongoing support, including counseling, rehabilitation, and social assistance. Relevant agencies should ensure victims have access to these services for physical and psychological recovery. Law enforcement should also work to enhance legal protection for domestic violence victims and address existing obstacles.

Abstract

This  research  aims to  find  out the correlation between the use of YouTube and speaking ability on English Department students of Riau University. The research design was descriptive correlational that focused on the quantitative approach. The population of the research is the fourth semester of the English department with 76 students involved as the research samples.  To collect  the  data,  the  researcher  used two  research instruments;  a questionnaire and a test. The questionnaire is to gain the data of the students’ use of YouTube while the test is for the data of the students’ speaking ability. The analysis of the data was carried out using IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The findings revealed that the mean score of the students’ social use of YouTube is 75.58, interpreted as ‘average’, whereas the mean score of the students’ speaking ability is 69.99, interpreted as ‘good’. Then this research discovered the  correlation  coefficient  between  the  two  variables  is  0.471,  and  following  the classification of correlation by Sugiyono (2009), this number denotes a ‘moderate’ and ‘positive’ correlation. Also, the  determinant coefficient  is  0.2218, indicating that the students’ use of YouTube has 22% influence on their speaking ability, leaving the other 78% to other factors, such as cognitive ones (conceptualization, formulation, and articulation), lingustic ones (pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary), and affective ones (self-control and anxiety). Having found these findings, it can be confirmed that the use of YouTube can influence students’ English speaking ability very well if they start using it wisely.

Abstract

Land ownership rights in Law Number 5 of 1960 concerning Basic Regulations on Agrarian Principles are included in the concept of primary land rights. Primary land rights mean rights to land that can be owned or controlled directly by a person or legal entity for a long period of time and can be transferred to other people or their heirs. The problem in this research is regarding how to implement dispute resolution through mediation based on PERMA Number 1 of 2016 concerning Mediation and what the legal force of a Deed of Peace is for both parties in land ownership disputes based on PERMA Number 1 of 2016 concerning Mediation. The research method used in this research is a normative juridical approach and an empirical approach. Secondary data is data obtained through library research, such as literature books and scientific works related to research problems. Secondary data consists of 3 (three) Legal Materials, namely, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Legal Materials. Prime data is data obtained from research results in the field directly on research objects (field research) carried out by means of direct observation and interviews. The results of this research show that the Tanjungkarang Class 1 A District Court has implemented dispute resolution which is handled by every judge who is obliged to make an offer or peace to both parties in the dispute. If the case examining judge does not order mediation first then it is considered to have violated the law regarding Mediation in the Courts and the Supreme Court with an interim decision will order the Court of First Instance to carry out the Mediation Process, with the time limit given for the interim decision starting from 30 days after notification of the interim decision of the High Court or Supreme Court. The Legal Strength of the Deed of Peace for both parties in a Land Ownership Dispute Based on PERMA Number 1 of 2016 concerning Mediation, has the same strength as that which has permanent and final legal force because it cannot be appealed, cassation or judicial review and has executorial power for the Parties.
