Abstract

The use of social media in teaching Christianity is an important topic in the current digital era. This article aims to understand the impact of social media on the formation of individual spiritual identity. Social media has an important role in expanding access to information, building religious communities, and facilitating interaction between Christians. However, there are negative impacts that need to be watched out for, especially for Christian teenagers, such as reduced study time, disturbed concentration at school, decreased morale, unwise use of money, and negative impacts on health. This article advocates using social media wisely by managing time, choosing useful content, and prioritizing faith growth. A holistic approach in Christian religious education is needed to integrate spiritual values with a deep understanding of technology. Thus, the use of social media can be optimized as a means that supports spiritual growth and the formation of a strong Christian identity.

Abstract

Studies on externalities and gated communities are common. However, gated community externalities are rare. This study takes the example of Citraland Gama City (CGC) which was developed on an area of 211.57 ha in the middle of the suburban community of Medan City. The main objective of this study is to determine the positive and negative externalities felt by the surrounding community related to the development of CGC. With a qualitative approach, this study uses observation methods, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The key informants to be interviewed are people living around the housing complex area and people who visit. The results of this study indicate that public perception of CGC provides positive externalities for the community, including public facilities that provide facilities for walking, free hangouts, hanging out, exercising, creating content, and as a shortcut. Another positive externality is providing benefits from the public facilities themselves which include Orchard Road and Boulevard, footpaths, fountains, flyovers, and green infrastructure offered in the middle. However, this also provides negative externalities for the community and the environment. The implications of this study indicate that people who usually sell around the CGC area have lost a strategic location for selling because it is prohibited by the management. The novelty of the study states that the construction of CGC causes changes in land cover from teak plantations to built-up land which results in the loss of rainwater capacity. This is thought to be the main cause of flooding in the surrounding area which had never happened before the CGC.

Abstract

This study analyzes the political communication strategy of Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Emil Elestianto Dardak in the 2024 East Java Gubernatorial Election. The focus of the study lies in the use of the slogan “Gerbang Baru Nusantara,” which serves not only as a campaign tagline but also as a rhetorical instrument to shape public opinion and media discourse. The analysis shows that ethos was employed to emphasize credibility and bureaucratic experience; pathos to build emotional connections grounded in local identity; and logos through the presentation of concrete programs such as MSME digitalization and regional connectivity development. Within the framework of agenda setting, the slogan successfully redirected public attention to strategic development issues positioning East Java as a significant part of the national development scheme. The slogan was consistently used across various communication channels speeches, social media, public debates, and mass media coverage thus creating collective resonance. The integration of classical rhetoric and agenda-setting strategy illustrates that effective political communication relies not only on linguistic symbolism but also on the ability to manage perception and construct political identity. “Gerbang Baru Nusantara” emerges as a strategic discursive symbol in consolidating electoral support at the regional level

Abstract

This study explores the interrelationship between transparency, public participation, accountability, and policy effectiveness within the local governance context of Ambon City. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving 15 key informants, including government officials, community leaders, civil society representatives, and academics. The study found that transparency serves as the foundation for effective governance by providing access to information, which enables citizen engagement and strengthens accountability mechanisms. Public participation, however, often remains formalistic, with limited integration of community input into decision-making processes. Accountability is primarily administrative and financial, with social accountability mechanisms underdeveloped. Policy effectiveness is closely linked to the integration of these governance principles, particularly in programs that combine interdepartmental coordination with participatory monitoring, such as Smart City initiatives and waste management reforms. The findings highlight a dynamic and reciprocal relationship among transparency, participation, and accountability, wherein weakness in one component affects the overall governance cycle. Challenges include limited digital literacy, bureaucratic resistance, and weak public oversight, while opportunities lie in digital governance platforms, youth-led civic groups, and academic collaborations. The study concludes that good governance in Ambon City is best operationalized as an evolving ecosystem of trust, collaboration, and adaptive accountability, rather than mere regulatory compliance. Recommendations include enhancing citizen-friendly transparency initiatives, fostering deliberative participation, and expanding mechanisms for public accountability. These insights provide guidance for local government reforms and serve as a reference for similar medium-sized cities in Indonesia

Abstract

The discussion of Christian faith in the context of culture is a very crucial and interesting matter to be adjusted to the life of the church today. This adjustment is specifically seen in the context of the life of the Toraja people who are predominantly Christian, but are very strong in every cultural issue that is considered a fundamental thing in the life of the Toraja. The writing of this scientific work aims to bring readers to understand how the Ma'Nene' traditional ritual is based on the context of Torajan life seen in one of Bevans' models, namely the "anthropological" model. The interesting question of whether or not this ritual is true in the context of Torajan life is a question that feels quite ambiguous due to the various views that are relative according to the angle from which one sees it. In this case, an attempt to understand the relative truth in the Ma'Nene' Ritual is to see it from the perspective or glasses of the Bevans Anthropological model. Where, the departure point of this Anthropological model is experience, culture, social location and cultural changes that exist specifically seen in the context of the Kingdom.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic family law within Indonesia's national legal framework through the lens of Pancasila's justice values in religious court administration. As Indonesia's largest judicial institution handling Islamic family matters, religious courts face significant challenges in harmonizing Islamic legal principles with the constitutional foundation of Pancasila. Employing a quantitative research methodology, this study surveyed 284 stakeholders including religious court judges, legal practitioners, policymakers, and legal scholars across multiple jurisdictions to assess perceptions of Pancasila justice value implementation, institutional effectiveness, and integration challenges. Data were collected through structured questionnaires measuring five dimensions: understanding of Pancasila justice values, integration effectiveness, administrative performance, stakeholder satisfaction, and systemic challenges. Statistical analyses including descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and correlation analyses revealed significant findings. Results indicate that 78.5% of respondents demonstrate high understanding of Pancasila values, yet only 64.2% perceive effective integration in court practices. Religious courts achieved a 96.45% case clearance rate in 2023, processing 603,512 cases, though substantial challenges persist in harmonizing religious and state law (71.8% agreement). The study concludes that while structural frameworks exist for integration, substantive implementation requires enhanced judicial capacity, clearer legislative guidelines, and stronger institutional mechanisms to realize Pancasila's justice principles within Islamic family law adjudication

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of halal certification as a driver of competitiveness for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, with a focus on the effectiveness of existing regulations. Through a literature review and comparative analysis approach, this study examines the definition, history, and standards of halal certification, as well as its impact on MSME performance and competitiveness. The research methods used include document analysis, in-depth interviews with MSME actors, and a review of government policies related to halal certification. The results show that halal certification has a positive impact on increasing consumer trust, market access, and adding value to MSME products. However, the implementation of halal certification also faces challenges, such as a lack of understanding of the importance of certification, relatively high certification costs, and procedural complexity. Government regulations, including Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance, play a crucial role in facilitating the certification process and boosting MSME competitiveness. The study's conclusion confirms that halal certification is an important catalyst for increasing MSME competitiveness, supported by effective and sustainable regulations. Research implications include recommendations for regulatory improvements, increased awareness of the benefits of halal certification, and provision of technical and financial support for MSMEs

Abstract

The research aims to examine the influence of sales growth, leverage, and intellectual capital on financial distress with profitability as a moderating factor before and after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study focuses on 48 property and real estate sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2022. Using purposive sampling, 14 eligible companies were chosen for analysis. The data underwent analysis utilizing multiple linear regression, moderated regression analysis, and paired sample t-test methods. Findings indicate that sales growth does not impact financial distress; leverage has a significantly negative effect, while intellectual capital has a notably positive effect. Profitability moderates the influence of sales growth but not leverage or intellectual capital on financial distress. Additionally, it was noted that following the COVID-19 pandemic period, there were decreases in sales growth, intellectual capital, and profitability along with an increase in leverage by 8.75%. The study investigates how sales growth, leverage, and intellectual capital affect financial distress in the property and real estate sector. It goes beyond traditional financial metrics to explore the role of intellectual capital components like human capital, structural capital, and relational capital in mitigating financial distress. The study also examines the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sectors, providing insights into how it has adapted to its challenges.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between city branding and intention to visit by considering the mediating roles of brand identity and city image, as well as their ultimate influence on the decision to see, through a case study of tourists visiting Makassar City, which is branded as the "City of Delicious Food." This research contributes scientifically to the understanding of culinary-based destination marketing strategies, which are increasingly important in light of the growing competition among cities to attract tourists. Makassar was chosen as the research object because, in 2023, the city launched a new sub-brand highlighting its culinary strengths as a key attraction and element of city identity. Conceptually, this study is grounded in the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which explains the relationship between individual perceptions of a place and the intention and actual behavior to visit. The study adopts a quantitative explanatory approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS version 4.1.8 software. Data were collected from 150 respondents who have either visited or plan to visit Makassar. The results of the analysis indicate that city branding has a positive and significant influence on building brand identity and city image, which subsequently enhances tourists' intention to visit. This intention was found to have a direct impact on the decision to visit. Furthermore, brand identity and city image play important mediating roles in this relationship. These findings confirm that the attractiveness of a city lies not only in its physical aspects or tourist attractions but also in how all stakeholders, including the government, businesses, and the local community, consistently manage brand identity and city image. In the context of Makassar, emphasizing local culinary richness—such as Jalangkote, Pisang Ijo, Mie Kering, and Pisang Epe—has been proven to be an effective branding strategy in shaping the city's image as a leading culinary destination. Practically, this study guides policymakers in designing destination promotion strategies that leverage local potential, strengthen community participation, and support the development of the creative economy and MSMEs in the region.
