Abstract

Civic education for young people plays a crucial role in strengthening national character, developing social literacy, and preparing responsible citizens who can participate meaningfully in a democratic society. This study analyzes the dynamics of contemporary youth, the role of Civic Education in character formation, the function of community social spaces as authentic arenas for civic learning, and strategic efforts to reinforce civic education in the digital era. A literature review method was employed by examining nationally indexed journals published within the last five years. The findings indicate that young people face challenges such as digital disruption, social polarization, and declining face-to-face interaction. Civic Education contributes significantly to building critical awareness, social empathy, and democratic competence, especially when linked to real-life civic practices in the community. This study concludes that strengthening civic education requires synergy among schools, families, communities, and the government to cultivate knowledgeable, ethical, and socially responsible young citizens capable of navigating the complexities of national life.

Abstract

Taxes are essential to the operation of the state because, in addition to serving as the primary source of funding, they serve a number of important purposes that promote communal welfare and development. Providing the state with the money it needs to pay various government and development initiatives is the primary goal of taxes. The state can fund social services, education, health care, and infrastructure development—all of which are critical to the welfare of the populace—through taxation. Taxes also serve as a tool for establishing social fairness. The state can provide advantages to the less fortunate and distribute income more fairly by collecting taxes from the wealthier citizens. This makes it easier for people at all levels of society to gain from progress and lessens social and economic inequalities. The findings demonstrated that state tax revenue's ability to lower poverty rates in Indonesia through health and education programs for the poor remains low, unequal, and insufficient for people who are currently poor or have low incomes. In terms of education, the dropout rate remains high, and rural communities continue to have inadequate access to health care. A comprehensive, integrated, and sustainable approach is required by the government in order to increase the impoverished population's access to health and education services in a way that is more sufficient, just, and equal

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of leadership style, organizational culture, and work environment on job satisfaction, as well as the mediating role of job satisfaction in influencing employee performance, using the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework and the Theory of PlaNned Behavior (TPB). This quantitative research employed an explanatory approach with a surveymethod involving 148 non-academic staff from a public vocational institution in Indonesia. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS software. The results show that organizational culture and work environment have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, while leadership style has a positive but insignificant effect. Furthermore, leadership style and work environment do not significantly affect employee performance through job satisfaction. However, organizational culture has a significant indirect effect on employee performance through job satisfaction, indicating its mediating role. These findings highlight that creating a strong organizational culture and a supportive work environment is crucial for enhancing job satisfaction, which in turn contributes to improved employee performance. This study offers practical insights for public educational institutions in developing countries by emphasizing the importance of internal organizational factors in shaping employee behavior. The integration of TPB within the S-O-R framework also provides a novel theoretical contribution by illustrating how individual attitudes and perceptions, shaped by organizational stimuli, lead to specific behavioral outcomes in the workplace context.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the decline in employee job satisfaction and performance that has occurred in the last three years at PT Astra International Tbk Makassar City. This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership and work environment on employee performance with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. This study uses an explanatory research method with a quantitative approach, where primary data were collected through distributing questionnaires to 112 employees and analyzed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that transformational leadership and work environment have a significant effect on job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction is proven to have a positive and significant effect on performance. The main findings reveal that transformational leadership does not have a significant direct effect on performance, but its effect is fully mediated by job satisfaction. Conversely, the work environment has a significant direct effect on job satisfaction and employee performance. In conclusion, efforts to improve employee performance can be carried out effectively through improving transformational leadership styles and creating a conducive work environment to increase job satisfaction, which in turn has a positive impact on performance

Abstract

This study aims to determine the elements influencing land use transformation in Pantai Raja Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency. The study aims to assess the effects of land function transition on community welfare. This study aims to assess the positive and negative impacts of alterations in land function. The study used a mixed-method approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative techniques to gather more comprehensive, valid, reliable, and objective data. The study comprised forty individuals, each possessing one to ten years of farming experience, with the snowball sampling method employed to ascertain the location. The study's results indicate a transition in land use from rubber agrosilviculture (Hevea brasiliensis) to oil palm agrosilviculture (Elaeis guineensis). The market price of rubber has significantly decreased from Rp 20,000 per kilogram to Rp 4,000 per kilogram. These alterations impact individuals' quality of life and their comfort levels. Weather, pricing, and agricultural practices are among the factors influencing land conversion. In Pantai Raja Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency, the transition from rubber agriculture to oil palm production has resulted in significantly favorable outcomes, despite adverse impacts including a reduction in productive time. A reduction in burden, an augmentation of held assets, and an enhancement in family wellbeing are observed by farmers

Abstract

Community empowerment is crucial for the sustainability of a village, especially a tourism village. The community is the core of development, ensuring that a tourism village is not merely a temporary viral phenomenon but can thrive long-term by involving the community as the primary foundation, rather than focusing on outsiders. This ensures that the community is not colonized within its own village and can generate its own income. The goal of developing tourism villages through the community is essentially to ensure the economic sustainability of the tourism village itself. From the community, to the community, and for the community. The purpose of this research is to understand community empowerment (enabling, empowering, protecting) or providing, empowering, and protecting. This research was conducted in Palaes Tourism Village, West Likupang District. The research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, namely data in the form of a collection of words, images, videos, recordings, and not numbers. The research instruments were the Palaes village government (Old Law, Old Law Secretary, Director of Bumdes) and the community (members of MSMEs, ordinary people) and also tourists as supporting factors. The research was conducted for 6 months, from May 2023 to December 2023. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study conclude that enabling (providing) the government successfully provides support in various ways for the advancement of tourist villages, so that the community can recognize the potential of the village and the potential of human resources (HR) itself, namely by building cooperation with various parties to achieve the necessary facilities. Empowering (empowering), the government empowers the community through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES), namely by becoming members of MSMEs, handicrafts, and becoming homestay managers. According to the interview results, only 30% of the community is directly involved in empowerment, the rest is still being worked on by the government. Protecting (protecting), the government's way of protecting the Palaes tourist village system is twofold: external protection, namely by being very selective in choosing future investors. Do not let investors be more important than the community itself, especially if it is colonized in the village itself. Next, internal protection, namely by always maintaining good relations with the Palaes tourist village community, both those directly involved and those who have not been involved/have not yet involved themselves in the development of the tourist village. The government considers maintaining harmony between the government and the community and between communities is paramount to prevent conflicts that break the system. In addition, the government also protects the system by providing firmness and sanctions to people who violate the rules.

Abstract

This qualitative research examines the integration of local history and digital storytelling as pedagogical strategies to foster civic virtues and strengthen national identity among high school students in Indonesia. Employing thematic analysis of data collected through semi-structured interviews (n=42), focus group discussions (n=6), and classroom observations (n=24 sessions), the study investigated how these complementary approaches influence students' understanding of civic responsibilities, emotional connections to national heritage, and commitments to social participation. Findings revealed three interconnected themes: (1) local history as a bridge between individual identity and national consciousness, (2) digital storytelling as a mechanism for affective engagement and critical consciousness development, and (3) the collaborative learning environment as a catalyst for internalized civic virtues. Students demonstrated enhanced comprehension of how local contributions shaped national narratives, developed stronger emotional attachments to national identity, and expressed greater willingness to participate in civic activities. The study contributes to contemporary civic education discourse by demonstrating that when local historical narratives are mediated through digital storytelling practices, students develop more nuanced, emotionally resonant understandings of national identity and civic responsibility, transcending chronological fact-retention toward meaningful civic engagement.

Abstract

Good environmental communication will ensure that this local wisdom not only becomes a tourist attraction, but also remains alive and respected by tourists and the Baduy community itself. In the context of sustainable development, ecotourism based on the preservation of nature and local culture is a potential alternative. However, the development of ecotourism often poses a threat to cultural and environmental integrity if it is not managed in a communicative and participatory manner. The purpose of this study is to analyze the design of an environmental communication model in the development of ecotourism in Baduy Village based on local wisdom and to optimize economic benefits for the local community. It is hoped that ecotourism in this area can develop sustainably without disturbing the cultural values that have been passed down from generation to generation. The methodology used is a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, focus group discussions, and documentation presented in the form of data. The results and discussion in the environmental communication model consist of five elements, namely primary communication, messages, media/channels, communicants, and communication effects. The environmental communication model plays a central role in supporting the development of eco-tourism based on local wisdom in Baduy Village. Environmental communication not only helps preserve traditional values but also ensures that the growing tourism industry benefits the local community while maintaining environmental sustainability
