Saint Pauls Review adalah jurnal ilmiah berkala yang diterbitkan dua kali setahun oleh Bagian Pusat Studi Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Saint Paul Bandung. Jurnal ini mengkaji isu-isu kontemporer yang ada di tengah-tengah masyarakat khususnya kaum milenial yang sedang mengalami perubahan yang begitu cepat demi berkontribusi dalam pelayanan Gereja di negara kesatuan Republik Indonesia. Penulisan dalam jurnal ini lebih berfokus pada bidang Teologi, Konseling, dan beberapa disiplin ilmu terkait seperti Psikologi, Sosial dan Antropologi. Jurnal ini ditulis oleh para teolog Kristen, para dosen dan mahasiswa, para pendeta dan rohaniawan serta orang awam yang menaruh perhatian terhadap pergumulan masyarakat pluralisme dalam gaya penulisan yang dapat dicerna oleh masyarakat Kristen. Saint Pauls Review adalah jurnal open access yang menerbitkan artikel penelitian dalam bidang teologi, misiologi, konseling pastoral, kepemimpinan Kristen, pendidikan Kristen, dan filsafat agama. Kriteria publikasi jurnal ini didasarkan pada standar etika yang tinggi dan kekakuan metodologi dan kesimpulan yang dilaporkan.

Abstract

Permasalahan dalam artikel ini membahas pentingnya pekerjaan Roh Kudus di dalam kehidupan orang percaya memiliki pengaruh yang sangat signifikan. Mengingat masih banyak orang percaya menganggap berbata-kata dalam bahasa roh itu sebagai ukuran spiritualitas pribadi. Tujuan pembahasan artikel ini guna menjelaskan spektrum pekerjaan Roh Kudus di dalam kehidupan Kristen. Metode studi literatur digunakan untuk mengkaji artikel ini. Hasilnya, Roh Kudus memiliki dinamika sendiri yang berkenan hadir dan bekerja secara bebas di dalam tiap orang percaya yang telah bertobat dan mengalami hidup baru di dalam Yesus Kristus. Buah Roh yang bekerja di dalam hidup orang percaya sebagai tanda spiritualitas, dan bukan karena kemampuan ber-glossolalia. Kesimpulannya, Roh Kudus bekerja secara riil di dalam hidup orang Kristen guna memuliakan Bapa di surga dan taat melaksanakan kehendak Yesus Kristus. Kata kunci: gereja; hidup dalam kekudusan; orang percaya; Roh Kudus.

Abstract

Recognizing the figure of Judas Iscariot as a traitor provides space for polemics among theologians and congregations. Various understandings, both in positive terms (praising him as a hero) and negative (as a cursed person), leave uncertainty in interpreting the true meaning of the text. A different approach is needed but provides adequate understanding. Praeclarus' theorem is applied in his introduction to the text of John 13:26-30. This application resulted in the finding that the emphasis on Judas Iscariot's act of betrayal was the antithesis of God's plan of salvation. Satan is behind the betrayal. So it is hoped that those who want to introduce the meaning of betrayal itself is a reality that cannot be avoided, but in it Jesus gives a strong affirmation to live it by having a banquet with His disciples. This is a valuable legacy for the church when it feels betrayed.

Abstract

Poverty is a complex and ongoing issue that impacts various aspects of people's lives around the world, including in Indonesia. This article explores the challenges faced by Indonesian society in terms of poverty, despite a decline in the number of poor people in recent years. Liberation theology introduced by Gustavo Gutiérrez is highly relevant in this context, emphasizing the need for social action oriented towards justice and solidarity. Gutiérrez argues that the church should function as a place of worship and as an active agent of change in fighting for the rights of disadvantaged communities. Through education and empowerment programs, churches are expected to help people understand their situation and empower them to fight for their rights. Gutiérrez also highlighted that believers can achieve spiritual experiences by caring for others, especially those living in poverty. By creating communities based on love, justice, and solidarity, the church has the potential to significantly impact society. The church's concrete advocacy and social engagement actions reflect its commitment to justice and liberation. Therefore, the church can actively build a better world where everyone, especially marginalized ones, can experience God's love and justice daily.

Abstract

Era digital telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk pendidikan Kristen. Kontekstualisasi filsafat pendidikan Kristen menjadi penting untuk memastikan bahwa pembelajaran tetap adaptif dan relevan. Artikel ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana nilai-nilai filosofis pendidikan Kristen dapat diintegrasikan dengan teknologi digital tanpa mengorbankan prinsip-prinsip moral dan spiritual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode riset pustaka, menganalisis berbagai literatur yang relevan untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan dan peluang dalam kontekstualisasi ini. Masalah penelitian yang diangkat adalah, bagaimana mempertahankan nilai-nilai inti pendidikan Kristen dalam konteks pembelajaran digital yang terus berkembang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknologi dapat digunakan untuk mendukung pembelajaran yang interaktif dan personal, namun juga menimbulkan risiko seperti disinformasi dan ketergantungan. Novelty penelitian ini terletak pada pendekatannya yang menggabungkan perspektif filosofis dan teknologi secara komprehensif, memberikan wawasan baru dalam pengembangan pendidikan Kristen yang modern dan kontekstual. Oleh sebab itu, integrasi nilai-nilai filosofis dan teknologi dapat menciptakan pendidikan Kristen yang adaptif dan relevan di era digital.

Abstract

Perluasan misi gereja ke seluruh dunia menjadi tanggung jawab semua murid Kristus. William Carey telah menunjukkan teladan sebagai murid yang taat dalam mengimplementasikan pelayanan misi di India. Ia telah meninggalkan warisan berharga bagi gereja dan generasi muda Kristen untuk dihayati dan diimplementasikan. Rumusan masalah dalam pembahasan ini adalah strategi pelayanan misi Carey dan implementasinya bagi generasi muda dalam bermisi di era postmodern. Tujuan penulisan ini guna mengungkapkan pengaruh pelayanan Carey bagi gereja. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literatur. Hasilnya memperlihatkan bahwa Carey mewariskan teladan dalam tanggung jawabnya memperluas pekerjaan misi di lahan yang terbuka di India; ia juga merintis pentingnya pengutusan lintas budaya; serta mendirikan jemaat yang mandiri. Warisan ini berharga bagi para generasi muda dalam menjawab panggilan pelayanan di era postmodern ini. Mereka diharapkan memiliki inovasi pelayanan seperti Carey agar dapat terlibat langsung dalam pelayanan perintisan misi dan gereja. Gerakan ini harus dilaksanakan dengan penuh tanggung jawab. Kesimpulannya, misi penjangkauan menjadi tugas utama gereja untuk memberitakan Injil bagi segala bangsa yang tertuang jelas dalam Amanat Agung (Mat 28:19-20).

Abstract

Church conflicts have occurred since the early church to the present, so most of the conflicts have an impact on the formation of various church traditions or denominations. In general, factors that cause conflict within the church, among others; due to theological factors and non-theological factors. This study aims to test and explain about a leader and his qualifications, the church as one body in Jesus. the development of church conflicts in Indonesia and their resolution, so that mistakes are not repeated in the future and the implications for the church today. This research is qualitative which is a research procedure that produces descriptive data that is done with an approach to a person or something in oral or written form. In the process researchers use qualitative research methods of theology related to biblical studies. Biblical theological research includes exposition theology and Biblical studies. Conclusion; To resolve healthy conflicts within the church in Acts, leaders take an important role. The criteria of the servants are well-behaved, "filled with Spirit and Wisdom" and "Laying on Hands". Shepherds are the highest decision makers. Every decision that has been decided by the leader, must be followed and implemented by all congregations. Biblical leadership becomes very important, because the leader or pastor of the congregation becomes the center of the teaching and development of the church. If there is a deviation the Leader must firmly discipline in biblical ways. The only biblical reason for separation is when the main truth of the Gospel is denied (Galatians 1:6-10; 1 John 2:18-19).

Abstract

Abstract The sacrifice of Christ in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends,” serves as a profound example for God’s servants who pioneer congregations in urban areas. This study aims to explore the theological meaning of the verse within the context of urban ministry using a descriptive qualitative method with a theological approach. Primary data were collected through interviews and field observations with urban church planters, while secondary data were gathered through literature studies related to biblical theology and urban mission. Through qualitative analysis, the study reveals that pioneering urban congregations demands self-sacrifice, perseverance, and a willingness to face challenges for the sake of the Gospel. Just as Christ gave Himself sacrificially, God’s servants are also called to love and serve urban communities wholeheartedly. These findings not only deepen theological understanding of sacrifice in ministry but also offer spiritual encouragement for church planters to remain faithful and steadfast in their calling.

Abstract

Era postmodern membawa tantangan besar bagi generasi muda Kristen, karena perkembangan filsafat postmodernisme yang menekankan relativisme, pluralisme, teknologi, dan individualisme telah menggeser pemahaman mereka tentang nilai-nilai spiritual, yang kerap memicu krisis identitas iman. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi postmodernisme dan implikasinya terhadap spiritualitas pemuda Kristen, serta tantangan yang muncul dalam mempertahankan fondasi iman mereka di tengah pengaruh pemikiran postmodern. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui kajian pustaka dan analisis teoritis, penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi strategi pemuridan yang dapat memperkuat fondasi iman pemuda Kristen. Tiga elemen kunci dalam pemuridan—peran orang tua sebagai panutan iman, lingkungan dan komunitas yang mendukung, serta bimbingan dari mentor dan pendamping rohani—berkontribusi dalam membentuk iman yang kokoh dan kontekstual. Temuan penelitian ini memberikan wawasan bagi komunitas Kristen dalam membimbing generasi muda menghadapi tantangan postmodernisme serta mengembangkan pendekatan pemuridan yang relevan dengan kondisi zaman.

Abstract

This article explores the theme of Christ's love as the central message of Scripture, highlighting its embodiment from Genesis to Revelation. The purpose is to explain that Scripture is the primary source of expressing God's love for the world through Christ. Using a biblical theological approach, this article traces how God's love drives His actions and demands a response from humans. This study yielded the main response, namely that believers must love God, their neighbor, the Savior, and their enemies. Likewise, discipleship rooted in God's love will have an impact on faith growth and spiritual maturity. In conclusion, believers as disciples of Christ must reflect on God's love as the basis for transforming Christian life personally and communally.
