Abstract

Reading is one skill that should be master by the students who want to learn English. However, students often find difficulties while learning English. To solve the problem, students should mastered four language English skills, and one of them is Reading. However, based on the preliminary data taken by the Researcher, it shows that students often did not know what they read. They are not aware of their own reading process. To solve this problem, the students need to know what kind of strategy that they should use while reading. The appropriate strategy that student should use when read is the metacognitive strategy. This paper entitled Metacognitive strategy on students’ literal and inferential comprehension is conducted to know what kind of metacognitive strategy used on students’ reading comprehension, especially their literal and inferential. The aims of this study are to know what kind of metacognitive strategy used on students’ literal and inferential comprehension skills in L2 reading and how are the use of metacognitive strategy on students’ literal and inferential comprehension to their reading skill. There were 3 strategy subscales or factors; Global Reading Strategies, Problem-Solving Strategies and Support Reading Strategies. Results revealed that participants reported frequent use the third metacognitive-strategy types stated by Mokhtari. K And Reichard. The method of this research is qualitative research. It takes place at Pakuan University. The population of this study were Fifth-semester students of the English language Education study program. While the sample of this research are students from class A and Class D that consists of 37 students. The technique and instruments of collecting data for this research are questionnaires, interviews, and forum group discussions. In conclusion, the result shows that the students use metacognitive strategy in their reading process.

Abstract

The research aims at describing the implementation of School Based Management to improve the quality of education at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Kencana 3 Bukit Cimanggu City Kota bogor. The research was conducted at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Kencana 3 Bukit Cimanggu City with the considerations of the parents’ economic level, social and cultural backgrounds, the school’s facilities, the school’s age of being established and its achievement of being the pioneer of School Based Management. The focus of the research is to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the implementation of school based management to improve the quality of education, to look for solution of the inhibiting factors, to observe the planning, doing, and monitoring processes, to evaluate the inhibiting/supporting factors involving the headmaster, teachers, committee, and students’ supervisors. The process of organizing the program was aimed at establishing the vision, mission, and objectives of the school. In conducting the program of school based management, transparency, participation, and accountability are emphasized. The research result shows that the headmaster as the one responsible for the process of education at school had striven hard to build the atmosphere of togetherness and trust among teachers and school officers. It is in accordance with the principles of the program which are transparency, participation, and accountability.

Abstract

The research study investigated the students’ voices on online English learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study was taken in quantitative and qualitative approach using the questionnaire and interview in which the data were taken through an online with descriptive analysis. The research involved 46 participants who learned online English at higher education in Jakarta. Based on the result data, indicated that respondents who have been learning online English for one semester accepted moderately. Moreover, a few of them argued that online English learning during the Covid-19 as the best alternative to mitigate the spread of viruses in Education cluster. Participants showed big concern with health problem and made it as priority for their life decision in emergency situation of Covid-19 pandemic. Although the implementation of online English learning still has challenges and difficulties for students, they have optimism and slowly accustomed to use technology in language learning and becoming autonomous learning.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to describe the correlation among the parenting patterns, learning styles, and students’ achievement at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Papandayan Bogor. The research applied case study model with the approach of qualitative. The procedure of data collection was done by observation, interview, and documentation. The technique of data analysis was done by data reduction, data description, and data verification. The researcher used credibility, transferability, dependability, and conformability tests to validate the data. The subject was a student who has high achievement at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Papandayan Bogor. It was conducted in the odd semester in the year of 2015/2016. The result of the study shows that the parenting pattern of the student’s parents was democratic. The subject showed the combination of learning styles: visual, audio, and kinesthetic (vak learning style), but the most dominant style was visual. The achievement of the student since she was in the first until third grade could be categorized as good; it was proven by the score in her report that was always above the average score of the class. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that a high achieving student cannot be separated from the parenting pattern of being democratic that was always applied by the parents. The most dominant learning style of the high achieving students was visual.

Abstract

EFFORTS TO INCREASE THE RESULT OF STUDENTS LEARNING OF BIOLOGY THE NATURE OF THE HEIR TROUGH LEARNING MODEL JIGSAWThis study moved from the phenomenon happened in the classroom that the low understanding and the results of students learning on Biology about regulation system. Therefore a theacher need to consider the learning model jigsaw so it can be increasing the activity and the results of students learning.This study aimsto (1) determine the learning outcomes of students in Biology about regulation system through the learning model of jigsaw so that it can improve the activity and learning outcomes students of XII IPA 2 SMAN 9 Bogor 2018/2019,(2) Knowing the process of improving students learning outcomes of Biology through jigsaw of XII IPA 2 SMA N 9 Bogor in the first semester 2018/2019, (3) measure the increasing in student learning outcome in Biology about regulation system through a learning model “jigsaw”. The results of this study show that by using the learning model “jigsaw” can be a variety of fun learning for students so that it can prove to increase students learning outcomes. Before using tes learning model “jigsaw” learning outcomes of students reached only 65,65, then increase after using jigsaw to 75 in cycle 1 and 81,72 on sycle 2. From the description above, the researcher concluded that learning model “jigsaw” matched to the learning material can create fun learning situation to increase students learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dengan pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan secara kolaboratif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA tentang sifat-sifat cahaya di kelas V A SD Negeri Kawung Luwuk Bogor melalui penerapan model Model Pembelajaran Brainstorming. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V A SD Negeri Kawung Luwuk Bogor sebanyak 36 siswa, dengan komposisi perempuan 22 siswa dan laki-laki 14 siswa. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Teknik dan alat pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif terhadap data berupa dokumen hasil pekerjaan siswa, daftar nilai dan lembaran observasi Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Brainstorming dapat menjadi variasi pembelajaran yang menyenangkan bagi peserta didik sehingga terbukti meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik di Kelas V A SD Negeri Kawung Luwuk Bogor. Sebelum menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Brainstorming  hasil belajar peserta didik hanya mencapai nilai rata-rata 63,89 kemudian terjadi peningkatan setelah menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Brainstorming menjadi 72,78 pada siklus 1 dan 81,25pada siklus 2. Oleh  karena itu penerapan Model Pembelajaran Brainstorming yang disesuaikan dengan  materi pembelajaran dapat menciptakan situasi belajar yang menyenangkan sehingga terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

The paper entitled “Students’ Error in Using Capital Letter and Punctuation in Writing a Descriptive Text” was written to find out error in using capital letter and punctuation in writing a descriptive text and the cause of it. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The research was conducted to the third semester students of English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teachers Training and Educational Sciences, Pakuan University. The sample of this research is selected by using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through students’ work, questionnaire, and interview. The result of the data shows that the most common error in using capital letter is in writing the names of places and persons. For comma, students make error before or after coordinating conjunction and comma at the end of the sentence. For apostrophe, most of students make errors by omitting a letter or letter in contractions. The writer also finds that carelessness is the cause of students’ error in using capital letter and punctuation in writing a descriptive text

Abstract

The research is quantitative associative research with correlation approach which includes natural intelligence as independent variable and students’ achievement as the dependent variable. The research is aimed at finding out positive correlation between students’ natural intelligence and their achievement on natural science subject. It was done in January 2015. The subjects of the research were students of class VA and VB of SD Negeri Empang. Bogor. The total respondents were 51 students. The data analysis used regression analytical technique and simple correlation which is represented by a regression equation of Y = -47 +0.49x meaning that the correlation is significant. The significance is shown by the correlation coefficient of r xy = 0.967 with determination coefficient of 0.94 or it can be stated that 94% students’ achievement on natural science is influenced by their natural intelligence.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan media film pendek dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks cerpen siswa kelas XI SMK YMA Megamendung Bogor dan untuk mengetahui kendala yang dialami siswa dalam menulis teks cerpen melalui media film pendek. Teknik yang digunakan yaitu teknik eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa kelas XI SMK YMA Megamendung Bogor yang terdiri dari empat kelas APK, satu kelas UPW, dan dua kelas PM. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelas XI APK 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen berjumlah 40 siswa dan XI APK 4 sebagai kelas kontrol berjumlah 40 siswa. Hipotesis pertama teruji kebenarannya dengan melihat nilai rata-rata di kelas eksperimen yang semula 43,8 meningkat menjadi 82,7. Kemudian dapat dilihat juga dari perhitungan mean diperoleh harga t0,99 = 2,39 dan t0,95 = 1,67. Dengan demikian t0 lebih besar daripada tt 1,673,422,39. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media film pendek dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks cerpen siswa kelas XI SMK YMA Megamendung Bogor. Hipotesis kedua teruji kebenarannya berdasarkan hasil angket yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa setiap pertanyaan tentang kendala dalam menulis teks cerpen menggunakan media film pendek berdasarkan hasil pengamatan yang dilakukan responden bahwa terdapat berbagai kendala yang dialami siswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks cerpen. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan hipotesis yang dirumuskan oleh peneliti baik hipotesis pertama maupun hipotesis kedua dapat teruji kebenarannya berdasarkan data yang yang diperoleh.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dengan pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan secara kolaboratif. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika tentang aritmetika sosial di kelas VII A melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL).  Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII.A SMP Negeri 13 Bogor sebanyak 35 orang, dengan komposisi perempuan 19 siswa dan laki-laki 16 siswa. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus.  Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi.  Teknik dan alat pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif terhadap data berupa dokumen hasil pekerjaan siswa, daftar nilai dan lembaran observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL), suasana kelas jadi menyenangkan sehingga hasil belajar siswa meningkat, yaitu nilai rata-rata hasil belajar pada siklus pertama memperoleh nilai 74,3 dengan persentase 60persen; sedangkan siklus kedua memperoleh nilai rata-rata 87 dengan persentase 89persen terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa, atau peningkatan ketuntasan belajar sebesar  29persen.  Begitu pula dengan hasil observasi siswa menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada partisipasi dan aktivitas siswa dengan memperoleh nilai rata-ratanya mencapai 75,36persen pada siksus pertama, sedangkan siklus kedua mencapai 88,57persen.  Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika dalam  materi aritmetika sosial.
