Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disorder in which progressive loss of articular cartilage occurs and can lead to disability. The most common symptom of osteoarthritis is pain. Usually the pain is exacerbated by use of the joint and relieved by rest. treatment is only aimed at relieving pain, maintaining or increasing mobility, minimizing disability, and improving quality of life. Objective: To determine the effect of quadriceps sets and manual traction on pain in knee osteoarthritis. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental method with a one group pretest and posttest design. Pain measurement was performed using a visual analogue scale (VAS). The data normality analysis test will use Shapiro Wilk while the bivariate analysis uses the paired sample t test, and the multivariate analysis uses a linear regression test. Results: The results obtained from this study, there was a significant effect of manual traction and quadriceps sets on pain p=0.000 (p <0.05) and there was no significant relationship between changes in pain with age (p=0.266) and BMI (p=0.241). Conclusion: There is an effect of giving quadriceps sets and manual traction on the incidence of reducing pain in knee osteoarthritis.

Abstract

Background:Timely identification of patients with a high risk of mortality from COVID-19 can make a big improvement in triage, bed placement, time saving, and maybe even outcome . Objectives: construct and evaluate individual mortality risk estimates based on anonymised demographic, clinical, and laboratory data at admission, as well as to find out the probability of death Materials and methods: Data included 681 patients, obtained from two Muhammadiyah Hospitals in Kebumen, Central Java, Indonesia. Data was collected between January 2020 to December 2022. The medical records were examined to identify the demographic data, vital signs, clinical data and typical laboratory test. In bivariate analysis, the Chi-square test was used.. Results: Patients were 48.02% males, and mortality was 18.05%. The five top predictors were Respiratory Failure( OR 7.420, 95% CI (1.169-47.103) , Myocardial Infarction (OR 1.639, 95% CI (0.881-3.050), D-dimer (OR 1.493, 95% CI (1.112-2.004), Chronic Kidney Disease (OR 1.493, 95% CI (1.112-2.004), Lymphocyte (OR 1.397, 95% CI ( 1.232-1.584). Conclusions: Comorbidities including chronic kidney disease, myocardial Infarction and DM 1 type; laboratory test results including D-dimer, lymphocyte, neutrophil, creatinine, leukocytes, glucose, hemoglobin; age, SPO2 and respiratory failure were associated with and can predict mortality in COVID-19 patients.

This type of research is Quasi Experiment One Group Pre-Test Post-Test With Control Group. The sample size was 95 respondents and divided into three groups. Questionnaires were used as a data collection tool. The three groups were compared using One Way Anova statistics followed by Tukey test at the 0,05 level of significance. There was a significant difference in the knowledge and attitude of the leaflet and audiovisual groups (p = 0,001) and there was no significant difference in the control group (p = 0,980) after being given health education. Leaflet and audiovisual media are effective for improving the knowledge and attitudes of mothers of toddlers about stunting.

Abstract

Background: The elderly or the elderly are the last stage of the human life cycle and experience degenerative processes in various aspects, especially in older women, which results in a higher risk of exposure to disease and ends in death, one of which is hypertension. Older women are closely related to the occurrence of hypertension when a woman experiences menopause. Treatment of hypertension can be done using non-pharmacological methods using slow deep breathing exercises. Purpose: To determine the effect of slow deep breathing exercises on older women with hypertension. Method: This study used the time series quasi-experimental method with one pre-test and post-test group. Results: The analysis of the Paired Sample T Test yielded p-values of 0.049 and 0.009 (p < 0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is supported. This implies that there is a significant impact of slow deep breathing exercises on blood pressure in older women when comparing the measurements before and after the intervention. Conclusion: Slow deep breathing exercises have an impact on the blood pressure of older women with hypertension.
