Abstract

The leadership of Kiai plays an essential act in the Institution structure of Pesantren. The important enrolled of Kiai is a good man on life purpose, a change agent, a negotiator with advice, and a coach calm. The reformer Kiai does on leadership with transformation ideas on based charisma attitude and intellectual ideology. The research method is qualitative research with a phenomenology approach. The research subjects consist of Kiai, boarding school administrators, students, people residents around pesantren. The respondents are as many as 60 people. The Research locations are at as sa'idah, Al Matuq, and Sunanul Huda Pesantren. With this point, the paper will need to explain the leadership of Kiai Pesantren especially in order to support the quality management of Pesantren on educational proses.

Abstract

The study of the paper aims to describe efforts to improve the quality of an institution's University of leadership management. The method uses a quantitative approach and path analysis. The point management institution is the academic education quality and the reputation of the university's publications which is the Tridarma statute for Higher Education in teaching-learning, research approach, and community service. Scientific publications are a starting point for global involvement in Higher Education management. Higher education management shows from Webometrics as an international recognition database for university rankings. It sees on the accreditation institutions such as ISO, National Accreditation for Higher Education as a quality service assessment bodies for Higher Education, e-Journal as a scientific publication agency in the publishing management network for papers written by lecturers and research findings of universities, and International office as an institution for national and international partnerships to achieve organizational success. The paper discusses 4 official Leadership Management Programs to improve the quality of the Bengkulu State Islamic Institute (IAIN Bengkulu).

Abstract

The Faculty of Teacher Training integrated SNPT (National Standard for Higher Education) 2015 and QMS (Management Quality Standard) ISO 9001: 2015 in Quality Model Design FTIK (Faculty of Teacher Training and Education). This paper is aimed to analyze and to create a model for quality improvement of FTIK IAIN Pontianak. This a research-and-development study (R&D) with a mixed method. The stages include the introduction, model design development, and expert’s model validation in quality testing at the Islamic Education major (PAI) and Arabic Education (PBA), and Islamic Elementary School Teacher Training (PGMI). This paper shows that there are four majors in FTIK that are still below the standard of SNPT 2015. FTIK innovated to find Model ISQEE to improve the quality of the four majors at FTIK IAIN Pontianak with SNPT 2015 and QMS ISO 9001: 2015.

Abstract

The school headmaster is at the forefront in cooperating to build human relations at school as well as its surrounding environment. Harmonious relations should be planned and implemented by the school headmaster as the top leader. The school headmaster is a leader, and a teacher is a colleague and a friend at work. In school management, headmaster-teacher relation is a mutual relation in making efforts to achieve a better quality of school management. This article uses a naturalistic phenomenological approach by studying events in certain situations. The article discusses leadership management of the school’s headmaster who used the human relation approach in solving problems. The headmaster also analyses some important problem-solving methods at the school by using a guided method towards human relation values, religions, personality, cross-check of facts, friendship, and polite conversation with lean voice.

Abstract

This research was aimed to identify the relevance of human capital concepts with policies on the professional development of Islamic education teachers at the Department of Religion Yogyakarta. It was a qualitative study whose subject was the PAIS section and teachers of Islamic education in Yogyakarta. The results showed that the relevance of the human capital concept with the policies on the professional development of Islamic education teachers accounts for the design of some event programs conducted by PAIS (School Islamic Education Institution) section and POKJAWAS through yearly cooperative meetings. These programs were aimed to develop Islamic education teachers — these programs targeted their knowledge, skills, and capability. The teachers of Islamic education become an outstanding resource in performing their profession as teachers of Islamic education.

Abstract

The existence of madrasah (Islamic school) management development is essential in Indonesia. Research findings in 2017 show the pattern of educational expansion carried out by madrasahs in each region and education unit. Madrasahs inflate their roles and functions as a means of quality improvement. The expansion can be seen in the progressing number of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Banyumas, reaching a figure of 182. The group MI divided into 179 private institutions and three public ones. The madrasah spread in 27 sub-districts of Banyumas District. Problems faced by MTs in Banyumas in developing their potentials are related to global competencies. The issues have become the homework for madrasah managers who oversee quality excellence. This paper will discuss three featured MIs in Banyumas in relation to the contestation of global competencies in Islamic education management. The three madrasahs are the State Madrasah Ibtidaiyah number 1 Banyumas (MI Negeri 1 Banyumas) as a Distinguished and Islamic School; MI Ma’arif NU Pageraji as a School of Champions; and MI Muhammadiyah Karanglewas Kidul as a School of Quality and Character.

Abstract

The paper aims to compare the management of foreign language learning at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and the University of Malaya as a way to improve World Class University ranking for taking a closer look at the institutional management, institutional curriculum habit, learning strategies progress, and emerging problems for managing education solutions. The data were collected through interviews, observation, focus group discussions, and documentation. The research uses a qualitative method through interactive model analysis, content analysis, and comparative analysis. The research finds that UM has more focus on foreign language specialization, while UIN Sunan Kalijaga does not have a clear focus on language learning specialization. The foreign language learning at UM is intended for graduate programs. It aims to prepare the graduates with international language fluency for industrial purposes by wider choices of language programs and in-depth linguistic knowledge. Language learning strategies at Sunan Kalijaga UIN use active learning and interconnection-integration models, while UM uses Communicative Language Teaching. Learning problems occurring in UIN Suka are mostly caused by Human Recourses factors due to the lectures. Problems in UM occurs with students’ difficulty. Taking from the institutional aspects and foreign language curriculum, UM is more prepared in heading towards World Class University and globalization than UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

Abstract

Performance Management in State Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKIN) Indonesia are still often ignoring the identification of stakeholders and the primary performance indicator of management measurement goals. The Balanced Score Card (BSC) as a management approach translates the direction of Higher Education developing into an action based on the initiatives identity number and management measurement goal systems. The context aims to determine the implementation of the Balanced Score Card at PTKIN with four perspectives which are connected as part of the chain driving to achieve the strategic point of Higher Education and performance of higher education results model. This research is qualitative research with the technique of data collection on observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results paper shows that the Balanced Score Card is the performance integrating on the management system at UIN Jakarta, UIN Yogyakarta, and UIN North Sumatera through the making of Score Cards with the processing of strategy maps to achieve its strategic point of higher education objectives. The Map Strategy is preparing as a companion model for its BSC implementation management goal of Higher Education.

Abstract

Knowledge Management (KM) is an approach to understand how the known processes are created, used, and shared to enhance academic productivity. This study aims to determine the system of implementation of KM in Islamic higher education, having the work unit status of non-tax state revenue (Penerimaan Negara Bukan Pajak/PNBP) and public service agency (Badan Layanan Umum/BLU) and applying remuneration. This study utilizes a qualitative method with the phenomenological approach. Data collection take through observation, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and focus group discussions. The implementation of KM is with the result of academic knowledge from research products and research schemes of educational staffs, saving knowledge storage on the database through electronic and printed forms, and the knowledge taking a distribution on through printed and electronic forms which are referencing lecture notes and oral sources such as scientific consortium and lecturing. The successful implementation of KM requires support by stakeholder policies in educational institutions. The research findings present an overview of the implementation design of KM that can be used as a platform by scholars and stakeholders in educational institutions to increase knowledge productivity.

Abstract

This study examines how significant the contribution of the critical factors of learning in Islamic schools is which is cover to leadership, teachers’ competencies, infrastructures, and culture of the Islamic schools on learning quality and their impact on Private Senior High Islamic school students' satisfaction in Yogyakarta. This study implements a quantitative approach with a method of survey. The object study in Private Senior High Islamic school teachers in Yogyakarta with inclusion criteria of non-Civil Servant and has not qualified for teacher’s certification. The questionnaire is implemented in the data collection and analyzed with path correlation). The results of the study show that the transformational leadership model becomes a key factor in the development of Islamic schools. Mastery of four teachers’ competencies—pedagogy, professional, social, and personality—through various training has become key for the learning quality of the Islamic schools. Adequate Infrastructures, Islamic values-based Islamic schools ‘culture, and focusing their orientation on quality achievement and customer satisfaction have become the deciding factor for Islamic schools’ service quality.
