Abstract

Discipline is an important aspect of early childhood social-emotional development. However, some children still experience difficulties in following rules, waiting for their turn, and completing tasks properly, including Group B children at TK Zahara, Bengkulu City. This condition indicates the need for learning activities that are engaging and appropriate to the developmental characteristics of young children. This study aimed to improve children’s discipline through a mini-market pretend play activity in Group B at TK Zahara, Bengkulu City. The study employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, with each cycle comprising the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 15 Group B children. Data were collected through observation and documentation. The results showed an improvement in children’s discipline at each stage of the intervention. In the pre-cycle stage, the average achievement of children’s discipline was 33%. Following the implementation of Cycle I, this achievement increased to 47%, categorized as developing, and then increased further to 80% in Cycle II, categorized as developing very well. Improvements in discipline were evident in the children’s ability to queue, follow the rules of the game, and complete tasks. This study concludes that the mini-market pretend play activity was effective in improving the discipline of Group B children at TK Zahara, Bengkulu City. These findings provide practical implications for teachers regarding the use of role-play as an engaging learning activity to stimulate discipline development in early childhood.

Abstract

Christian Religious Education plays an important role in shaping children’s character, particularly among children aged 7–12 years, which is a developmental stage for moral and spiritual values. The church, as a religious institution, is responsible for instilling Christian values through Sunday school and spiritual guidance. However, technological developments, social environmental influences, and limited family support pose challenges to the process of children’s character formation. This study aimed to analyse the role of Christian Religious Education in building the character of children aged 7–12 years at Alfa Omega Church, Uluklubuk, Kupang. This study employed a qualitative approach using field research. Data were obtained through observations, interviews, and documentation involving Sunday school teachers, church administrators, parents, and children aged 7–12 years. The data were analysed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while their validity was examined using source and technique triangulation. The results showed that Christian Religious Education played a role in building children’s character through Bible story-based learning, communal prayer, praise, educational games, and the exemplary conduct of Sunday school teachers. The character values instilled included discipline, responsibility, honesty, love, cooperation, and respect for parents and teachers. Successful character formation was supported by teacher involvement, church support, and parental participation, whereas inhibiting factors included the influence of social media, limited learning facilities, and differences in family backgrounds. This study confirms that Christian Religious Education contributes to the formation of children’s moral and spiritual character. The implications of this study indicate the need to strengthen cooperation among the church, family, and community to continuously optimize children’s character education.

Abstract

Post-disaster recovery at the nagari level plays an important role in ensuring the continuity of public services, the restoration of livelihoods, and the safety of affected communities. However, studies on the implementation of the nagari government’s role in post-disaster management remain limited. This study aims to analyze the role of the Nagari Matua Mudiak Government as an implementer, facilitator, and coordinator in the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction process. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design in Nagari Matua Mudiak, Agam Regency. The research informants comprised five individuals representing the nagari government, the Disaster Preparedness Group, community leaders, volunteers, and affected residents, who were selected purposively. The data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification, while data validity was assessed using source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the disaster affected 22–23 houses, displaced 593 people across 35 locations, damaged 19 road sections and 32 irrigation channels, and caused losses of at least IDR 7.415 billion. As an implementer, the nagari government recorded data on victims, managed assistance, mobilized mutual cooperation, and submitted proposals for the recovery of housing, livelihoods, and infrastructure. As a facilitator, the nagari government connected the community with government programs, donor agencies, volunteers, and technical institutions. Meanwhile, as a coordinator, the nagari government integrated information and allocated responsibilities among local actors and the regency government. Rehabilitation efforts have been implemented in the areas of basic services, logistics distribution, social support, and the restoration of access to affected areas. However, the recovery of productive economic activities, professional psychosocial services, housing assistance, and large-scale reconstruction remains constrained by inconsistent data, limited budgets and authority, damaged access routes, topographical conditions, weather-related risks, limited human resources and equipment, lengthy administrative processes, and the suboptimal dissemination of public information and provision of evacuation sites. This study confirms that effective post-disaster recovery at the nagari level requires strengthened institutional capacity, cross-sectoral coordination, data consistency, financial support, and a more integrated public information system.

Abstract

CV Garam Tani Makmur Sejahtera Bersama (TMSB) markets salt products through three sales outlets serving various areas across West Sumatra Province. However, the company lacks spatial information on customer distribution, the reach of resale marketing, and regional market potential as a basis for marketing decision-making. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution patterns of customers, the reach and intensity of salt resale marketing, and their relationship with regional market potential. The study employed a quantitative descriptive method with a spatial analysis approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and customer location and resale marketing data and were subsequently analyzed using Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN), Point Distance, Kernel Density Estimation (KDE), and overlay analysis with ArcGIS 10.8. The results showed that 484 customers formed a clustered distribution pattern, with a Nearest Neighbor Ratio of 0.232779, while 51.86% of customers were located within a radius of 0–10 km from the sales outlets. The highest resale marketing intensity was concentrated in Padang City, while Agam Regency and West Pasaman Regency had high market potential but relatively low distribution intensity. These findings indicate that distance and market potential play a role in shaping customer distribution patterns and determining the reach and intensity of CV TMSB’s salt resale marketing in West Sumatra Province. This study provides a practical contribution in the form of spatial information that the company can use to evaluate marketing areas, optimize distribution, and develop market expansion strategies in high-potential areas.

Abstract

Cold lahar flooding following the eruption of Mount Marapi has caused significant damage to settlements, agricultural land, infrastructure, and the socioeconomic activities of communities in Agam Regency. This condition requires the active role of the nagari government as the frontline level of government in implementing disaster management and recovering affected areas. This study aimed to analyze the role of the Sungai Pua Nagari Government in managing cold lahar flooding following the eruption of Mount Marapi and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Informants were selected purposively and comprised representatives of the Nagari Government, relevant agencies, and affected communities. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and were subsequently analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the Sungai Pua Nagari Government performed its role through three aspects, namely as a regulator, facilitator, and implementer. As a regulator, the nagari government formulated policies and supported the management of disaster-prone areas. As a facilitator, the nagari government coordinated various parties and facilitated the distribution of assistance, the relocation of residents, the recovery of agricultural land, and infrastructure repairs. As an implementer, the nagari government was directly involved in rehabilitation, reconstruction, and community mutual-assistance activities. The implementation of these roles was supported by high community participation, interinstitutional coordination, and support from the government and volunteers. However, limited budgets, human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and the extensive affected area meant that the recovery process had not yet been fully optimized. This study concluded that the Sungai Pua Nagari Government had performed a strategic role in post-disaster management and recovery, but the effectiveness of its implementation still required stronger institutional and resource capacity. These findings provide practical implications for nagari governments in improving coordination, resource preparedness, and the sustainability of disaster management programs in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

The high cost of commercial feed, which accounts for 60–70% of total operating costs, is a major constraint for fish farmers in Bulupitu Village, Gondanglegi Subdistrict, Malang Regency. This condition has prompted some farmers to use food waste as an alternative feed, despite its low nutritional content and its tendency to accelerate the deterioration of pond water quality. This community service program aims to implement an appropriate technological innovation in the form of a smart pelletizer to improve the efficiency of fish feed production using local raw materials. This technology integrates mixing with a capacity of 20 kg per batch, molding, and drying in a heating chamber to produce floating pellets. The implementation results show that the use of the smart pelletizer increased feed production capacity and rate compared with conventional methods and reduced the partner’s feed costs by 40–50%, from Rp12,000–Rp14,000/kg for commercial feed to Rp6,500–Rp7,500/kg. The application of this technology contributes to improving the efficiency of fish farming enterprises through the use of local raw materials and reduced dependence on commercial feed. The sustainability of the program requires the implementation of stock storage methods to anticipate fluctuations in raw material availability and regular assistance with laboratory testing to maintain the consistency of the feed’s nutritional content.

Abstract

Dependence on natural incubation methods continues to limit the productivity of chicken farming enterprises and efforts to strengthen food security in Bulupitu Village. This community service program aims to empower the local economy and improve community food security through the implementation of the Smart Eco-Incubator innovation to support sustainable chicken farming. This technology was designed with an automatic temperature and humidity control system, an energy-efficient Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heating element, natural thermal insulation materials, and a passive ventilation system. The program implementation included the application of appropriate technology, field trials, and assistance in developing business models and digital marketing. The implementation results showed that the Smart Eco-Incubator increased the egg-hatching success rate to 80–90%, which was higher than the 50–60% achieved through natural incubation methods. The stable microclimate inside the incubator also accelerated the production cycle of high-quality poultry chicks without imposing an excessive electricity cost burden on the community. Post-implementation assistance through the development of independent business models and digital marketing strategies also expanded the market reach of community livestock products. Thus, the integration of environmentally friendly egg-incubation technology and modern business management can increase farmers’ productivity, promote business independence, and strengthen the local economic chain and food security in Bulupitu Village.

Abstract

Although the development of culture-based educational games offers opportunities for preserving local heritage, studies on the implementation of scripting techniques during the production stage remain limited. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the production stage in the development of the Unity-based Tingkuluak educational game. The study employed a research and development approach with a Game Development Life Cycle design comprising the initiation, preproduction, production, testing, and release stages. Data were collected through an interview with a cultural expert, an initial questionnaire administered to 101 respondents, documentation, a literature review, alpha testing by an expert, and beta testing involving five users aged 11–18 years. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results showed that scripting techniques successfully integrated character movement, dialogue, object interactions, scene transitions, minigames, and the Album Budaya into a unified gameplay system. The beta testing results yielded an average score of 4.63 on a 5-point scale, while the feasibility aspect as a cultural education medium received a score of 5.00. Character animation received the lowest score of 4.20 and therefore still requires improvement. This study strengthens the application of the Game Development Life Cycle and scripting techniques in the development of culture-based educational media and produces a production workflow that can be used to integrate various game features. Further development should involve a broader range of respondents, improve character animation, and assess improvements in users’ knowledge through pretests and posttests.
