Abstract

Students’ conceptual understanding of salt hydrolysis remains relatively low because of the abstract nature of the material and learning that does not yet fully involve students actively. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Guided Inquiry learning model based on Chemo-Edutainment on improving students’ conceptual understanding of salt hydrolysis. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of two Grade XI MIPA classes at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu selected using purposive sampling, namely the experimental class, which received Guided Inquiry learning based on Chemo-Edutainment, and the control class, which received Guided Inquiry learning. Data were collected through conceptual understanding tests in the form of a pretest and posttest, then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, and N-Gain. The results showed a significant difference in the improvement of conceptual understanding between the experimental class and the control class, with a calculated t-value of 9.957 > table t-value of 1.996 at a significance level of 0.05. The experimental class obtained an N-Gain score of 0.74 in the high category, whereas the control class obtained an N-Gain score of 0.64 in the moderate category. The conclusion of this study affirms that the implementation of the Guided Inquiry learning model based on Chemo-Edutainment is effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding of salt hydrolysis. The implications of this study indicate the importance of chemistry learning that integrates scientific inquiry processes and enjoyable educational activities to improve the quality of conceptual understanding, particularly in abstract chemistry topics.

Abstract

Students’ conceptual understanding of chemistry, particularly on the topic of thermochemistry, remains relatively low despite the implementation of student-centered learning. This condition indicates the need for alternative learning that can connect chemistry concepts with real-life experiences and increase students’ active engagement. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transferring) learning model on students’ conceptual understanding of thermochemistry. This study used an experimental method with a Randomized Control Group Pretest–Posttest design in two Grade XI classes at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru in the 2025/2026 academic year. Class XI 6 as the experimental class received REACT learning, whereas class XI 7 as the control class received learning using a scientific approach. The data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, and N-Gain. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class, with a calculated t-value of 6.47 > table t-value of 1.66 at a significance level of 0.05. The N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.85 in the high category, higher than that of the control class, which was 0.69 in the moderate category. Improvements also occurred in all indicators of conceptual understanding. The conclusion of this study affirms that the REACT learning model is effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding of thermochemistry. The implications of this study indicate that REACT-based contextual learning can be used as an alternative chemistry learning strategy to improve the quality of students’ conceptual understanding and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The low learning activity and cognitive learning outcomes of Class X.1 students at SMA Negeri 12 Pekanbaru on stoichiometry formed the basis for conducting this study, particularly because teacher-centered learning caused students to be less active in asking questions, discussing, and independently constructing conceptual understanding. This study aims to improve students’ learning activity and cognitive learning outcomes through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model assisted by Bamboozle media. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which was implemented in two cycles, with each cycle including the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 40 students of Class X.1 at SMA Negeri 12 Pekanbaru. Data were collected through observation of learning activity, learning outcome tests, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that students’ learning activity increased from 45.05% in Cycle I to 52.61% in Cycle II. Cognitive learning outcomes also improved, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 76.00 in Cycle I to 83.00 in Cycle II, while classical learning mastery increased from 37.5% to 80%. The conclusion of this study affirms that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model assisted by Bamboozle media can improve students’ learning activity and cognitive learning outcomes on stoichiometry. The implications of this study indicate that integrating student-centered learning models with game-based media can serve as an effective, interactive, and enjoyable alternative for chemistry learning.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools play an important role in improving the religious understanding of the community through educational, da‘wah, and socio-religious development activities. Amid increasingly complex social development and globalization, communities require continuous religious guidance to strengthen their understanding and practice of Islamic teachings in daily life. This study aims to analyze the role of Pondok Pesantren Anwarul Huda in improving the religious understanding of the community in Malang City. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that Pondok Pesantren Anwarul Huda played an active role in improving the community’s religious understanding through dawn religious study every Sunday, Islamic studies on Saturday and Sunday mornings, Qur’an training every Friday afternoon for madrasah teachers and the general public, and Islamic Holy Day activities featuring speakers from outside the region. In addition, the pesantren provides assistance for orphans and the needy as a form of implementing Islamic social values. These programs contribute to improving Islamic insight, the quality of worship, Qur’an reading ability, community participation in religious activities, and social concern. The conclusion of this study affirms that Pondok Pesantren Anwarul Huda functions not only as an Islamic educational institution but also as a center for da‘wah and community empowerment. These findings imply the importance of strengthening the role of pesantren as socio-religious institutions capable of continuously fostering the community’s religious understanding.

Abstract

Although the School Field Introduction Program (PLP) serves as a strategic vehicle for prospective teacher students to integrate learning theory with practice in partner schools, directed mentoring is still needed so that students’ pedagogical readiness can develop optimally. This article aims to describe PLP student mentoring activities at SMAN 7 Mataram in strengthening abilities in three main domains, namely teaching preparation, guided learning, and independent learning. The mentoring activities were carried out through a participatory approach that included observation of the school’s organizational structure, analysis of the school’s vision and mission, and student involvement in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The implementation results showed that students were able to prepare learning documents in accordance with the characteristics of SMAN 7 Mataram students, conduct guided teaching practice by utilizing feedback from mentor teachers, and design independent learning activities based on students’ interests. The conclusion of this activity affirms that PLP mentoring at SMAN 7 Mataram is effective in improving students’ readiness as prospective educators. The implications of this activity indicate the importance of strengthening initial communication between partner schools and teacher education institutions (LPTK), as well as utilizing school data by students to design learning that is more contextual, relevant, and aligned with learners’ needs.
