Abstract

Anchoring is tying the ship to the bottom of the water so that the ship is not exposed to currents and wind. When anchoring anchors, there are often various kinds of problems stemming from internal and external factors. Internal factors themselves include problems with parts of the anchor that support anchor performance caused by lack of maintenance, especially on the anchor chain. This is what makes the author choose to raise the issue of the role of anchor chain maintenance. The research method used is qualitative descriptive by describing the role of maintaining a good and correct anchor chain. The data used is in the form of primary data obtained through field observations and interviews. Secondary data are obtained through documentation and literature studies. The results showed the need for anchor chain maintenance procedures to support the implementation of PMS on board, to create safe conditions when docking and support anchor work. The impact that will arise if you do not carry out the role of maintaining a good and correct anchor chain, namely corrosion, exhaustion of wildcat gears, influence on the anchor berthing process, the heavy up anchor process is disrupted and can hamper ship operations.

Abstract

The importance of the role of members of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) as representatives of the community requires active involvement in absorbing, accommodating, collecting, and following up on community aspirations and complaints. However, the complaint process often faces obstacles that result in delays in resolving problems, ranging from the complexity of the complaint flow to the difficulty of finding an effective complaint platform. To overcome these challenges, an innovative step was taken, which was to create a website that provides a complaint feature via WhatsApp. The main objective of this initiative is to provide easier access to the community to participate in raising their complaints and complaints. With the WhatsApp complaint platform, it is hoped that the community can quickly and efficiently report problems and provide feedback to the local government. The WhatsApp complaint feature is integrated to minimize technical barriers and facilitate use by the wider community. Through this website, people can easily file complaints, send messages, and provide documentation related to the problems faced. With the implementation of this platform, it is expected that problem-solving can be done more efficiently and responsively. Thus, creating a public complaint website with a complaint feature via WhatsApp is not only a practical solution in dealing with the obstacles of the complaint process but also a significant step in encouraging active public participation in building a transparent and accountable government.

Abstract

This thesis aims to design an engaging and educational pop-up book about the Binturong (Arctictis binturong), a nocturnal creature related to civets but distinguished by size. Known by various names in different regions, such as Binturong, Binturung, Menturung, or Menturun, this animal is referred to as Binturong, Malay Civet Cat, Asian Bearcat, Palawan Bearcat, or simply Bearcat in English. The wild population of Binturong has experienced a significant decline, leading to an elevation of its conservation status to Vulnerable (VU), according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Binturong is listed among the protected species by the Indonesian government. The population decline is attributed to human intervention through exploitation, excessive hunting, deforestation, and forest fires. The responsibility of preserving the environment and biodiversity should concern society. Particularly, educating children, as the next generation, about the Binturong is crucial for understanding the importance of ensuring the sustainability of this species. Therefore, the pop-up book is considered an attractive educational medium. A pop-up book is an interactive form of literature with images that can be erected, aesthetically pleasing, and capable of movement. Thus, the pop-up book serves as an effective tool to enhance reading interest and knowledge about the Binturong.

Abstract

One of the primary studies in the sociology of communication is the influence of mass communication in society. Media is a communication transmitter or "channel" that includes newspapers, magazines, radio, television, movies, posters, and banners. The medium can be used and received by the communicator, but the medium can affect more than one communicator. This can affect many communicants regardless of the number of communicators; this means if a communicator uses any of the mentioned mediums, they can easily influence the behaviour of society as a whole. Behaviour change can have positive and negative impacts, which is why learning or understanding the role of mass media in communication is very important. There are many cases where the use of mass media can lead to deviant actions. Deviant actions that appear more often today will involve the mass media, meaning that the mass media has a significant influence. The impact of mass media can be seen in our daily lives, and mass media has become a basic need of human society as a whole. With mass media incorporated into everyday life, any information can be gathered. Such information can be the difference between a positive impact and a negative impact, it all depends on the user (communicator). This journal will focus on how mass media can trigger deviant societal actions and how to overcome them.

Abstract

The article explores the strategic comparison between the Dien Bien Phu Battle in Vietnam and the General Offensive of 1 March 1949 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, marking crucial points in the struggle against colonialism. It delves into the historical context, military strategies, and impacts of these battles, highlighting their significance in shaping history and decolonization. Both battles shared a striking strategic similarity: using surprise attacks to overcome stronger opponents. Despite occurring in different historical and geographical contexts, both battles showcased the effectiveness of tactical superiority in achieving significant victories and influencing broader political changes, even against seemingly unbeatable opponents. The analysis emphasizes the pivotal role of these battles in ending colonial dominance and accelerating the decolonization process in Vietnam and Indonesia.

Abstract

Keramasan Gas and Steam Power Plant uses river water as raw material after going through treatment in the WTP system. To overcome the problem of high silica value in demin water, a ceramic filter membrane device was developed from empty palm oil bunch waste that reduced silica content to standards. This research aims to improve water treatment efficiency to meet the established water quality standards. Keramasan Gas and Steam Power Plant uses river water sources as raw materials, which are processed through the WTP (Water Treatment Plant) system to produce demineralized water as the main supply in the HRSG water filler system. However, the water treatment process has not been optimal because the silica content in demin water is still high (>20 PPB), violating the established quality standards (<20 PPB). Therefore, this study proposes an innovation in the form of a ceramic filter membrane from empty palm oil bunch waste to reduce silica content. Tests show a decrease in silica values to standard. These innovations have had a positive impact, including chemical savings, water treatment optimisation, and wastewater reduction. In addition, the use of empty palm oil waste also contributes to efforts to reduce environmental pollution.

Abstract

There is the criminalization of handling land disputes in Indonesia, such as in the case of Decision No. 1154/Pid.B/2021/PN. JKT.SE, namely Ir. Burhanuddin, who owns land with justifiable rights in the form of a Certificate of Ownership as a defendant and sentenced to imprisonment for 3 (three years), shows the need for criminal law reform against the existence of article 378 of the Criminal Code. With the normative juridical research method of the statutory approach, the author finds that the Criminal Act of Fraud 378 of the Criminal Code in the perspective of the Indonesian Criminal Law is connected with land regulations, explaining that Fraud, according to article 378 of the Criminal Code anyone who uses fraud or a series of lies to make someone give something, blame him, or cancel a debt but according to the legal principle lexes specialist systematic derogate lex generalis. While juridically, both the Civil Code and the Basic Agrarian Law do not specifically regulate if there is an error fraud in the sale and purchase of land rights, the sanction given by law is to cancel the sale and purchase deed with a claim for compensation because fraud in the deed of sale and purchase of land rights is not a criminal/criminal act that should be threatened with criminal sanctions but becomes Depenalization. The legal considerations in Decision No. 1154/Pid.B/2021/PN. JKT. SEL, reviewed in the renewal of the Indonesian Criminal Law, that the elements of fraud in the Criminal Code, namely objective and subjective elements of a person, can only be considered to have committed a criminal act of fraud as mentioned in Article 378 of the Criminal Code if all aspects are met. In this case, the perpetrator can only be sentenced according to his actions. Article 378 of the Criminal Code stipulates that someone who commits fraud must deceive the victim in a certain way, but in this case, the Civil Code and the Basic Agrarian Law does not explicitly regulate if there is an error.

Abstract

Plagiarism is topical within the music industry. It is filled with circumstances such as the potential of massive losses coupled with a “false-positive” court ruling due to the blurred line of plagiarism factor. This research aims to solve the gray line of music plagiarism by exploring the potential of the Szymkiewicz-Simpson coefficient toward musical aspects of music. Melody and Rhythm are chosen as the main features to focus on in the research. MIDI files of music involved in court cases are used as data for the study, with limitations put on what cases can be used for the research. Using a threshold range of 0.1 to 0.25, detection accuracies for melodic plagiarism range from 45% to 60%, while rhythm plagiarism ranges from 60 to 65%. This shows that the algorithm of plagiarism detection has a tendency to detect non-plagiarism cases and is more effective towards rhythm plagiarism detection rather than melodic plagiarism detection against existing plagiarism cases.
