Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of cold chain products in primary health centers (Puskesmas) across Siak Regency based on their accreditation levels. The research is motivated by the high rate of cold chain management deviations that may compromise the quality and effectiveness of medicines, particularly vaccines. A mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory model was applied, involving all 16 Puskesmas as the total sample. Quantitative data were collected through observations using the 2020 CDOB checklist, while qualitative data were obtained from in-depth interviews with cold chain officers. Data analysis employed the Chi-Square test to examine the relationship between accreditation levels and cold chain management quality. The results revealed a significant relationship between accreditation status and management quality, especially in facility compliance, SOP adherence, maintenance, and calibration standards. Highly accredited Puskesmas (paripurna and utama) demonstrated “good” to “very good” management performance, whereas non-accredited facilities remained in the “fair” category or lower. These findings highlight accreditation as a key determinant of effective cold chain management. The study underscores the need for continuous training, improved infrastructure, and enhanced monitoring systems to ensure the quality of cold chain medicines in primary health services.

Abstract

Speaking skills are one of the important skills in English that has a crucial role in oral communication, especially in maritime education which requires cadets to master technical and communicative competencies. The results of initial observations at the Sorong Shipping Polytechnic show that cadets of the Nautical 2C Study Program still face obstacles in the form of limited vocabulary, low confidence, and difficulties in grammar and pronunciation, which have an impact on low speaking skills. This class action research aims to improve cadets' Maritime English speaking skills through the integration of TikTok media as a means of digital learning. The research was carried out collaboratively in three cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through observation sheets, speaking tests, pre-tests and post-tests, and interviews. The results showed a consistent improvement in both learning activities and speaking skills. The active participation of cadets increased from cycle I (55.29% of the fair category) to cycle III (75% of the good category). The average value of speaking skills increased from 65 (cycle I) to 77.12 (cycle III), with learning completeness increasing from 11.76% in cycle I, to 88.23% in cycle III. The post-test results strengthened this finding with an average score of 83.76 and 88.23% of cadets achieving the KKM. Interviews show that more than 85% of cadets consider TikTok effective in increasing motivation, creativity, and confidence in practicing speaking. It can be concluded that the integration of TikTok in Maritime English learning has proven to be effective in improving speaking skills, especially in terms of comprehension, fluency, and pronunciation, as well as encouraging motivation and active involvement of cadets.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and implement Augmented Reality (AR) technology as an interactive learning medium for introducing human body anatomy using a markerless method. The background of this research is the lack of interest and understanding among students regarding biology, particularly anatomy, which has been delivered through conventional methods such as textbooks or two-dimensional images. AR technology allows students to visualize three-dimensional models of human body parts directly in the real world, without the need for physical markers, thereby creating a more engaging, flexible, and accessible learning experience. The methods used in this research include planning stages, needs analysis, data collection through interviews and observations, application development using Unity and Vuforia SDK, and finally implementation and evaluation. The application developed was tested at SMAN 1 Bulakamba and resulted in an increase in students' understanding and interest in learning anatomy. The evaluation results show that the majority of students stated they understood the material very well after using this AR application, with high average scores on each questionnaire indicator. Thus, the application of markerless AR technology has proven effective as an interactive visual education tool and holds great potential for implementation in biology education as well as other subjects that require complex visualizations

Abstract

One of the abundant natural resources on Earth is coal, and one of its main uses is as fuel. The utilization of coal as an industrial fuel produces waste in the form of coal ash. The oxide composition of coal ash significantly influences the fusion temperature of the sample, which, in turn, affects the formation of slagging and fouling. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the oxide composition of coal ash and its effect on the ash fusion temperature (AFT), as well as to determine the slagging and fouling indices. In this study, coal ash was melted and subsequently analyzed for its oxide composition, tested for ash fusion temperature (AFT), and evaluated for slagging and fouling indices. The results showed that high SiO₂ content combined with low Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, CaO, and MgO contents tends to decrease the AFT value. However, when both SiO₂ and Al₂O₃ contents are high and Fe₂O₃, CaO, and MgO contents are low, the AFT tends to increase. Furthermore, if the Fe₂O₃, CaO, and MgO contents are slightly higher than those of SiO₂ and Al₂O₃, the AFT also tends to increase. The calculated slagging and fouling indices indicated that almost all samples fall within the high to very high categories. These findings provide practical guidance for coal-fired power plant operators in Indonesia to predict and mitigate ash-related operational challenges, particularly in boiler design optimization and fuel blending strategies to minimize slagging and fouling occurrences, thereby improving combustion efficiency and reducing maintenance costs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of motivation and work environment on employee performance with work discipline as an intervening variable at BCA Kelapa Gading. This research was conducted using the PLS-SEM method with the SmartPLS 4.0 program. This study applied a quantitative research design with a survey approach. The number of respondents in this research was 100. The research variables included motivation (X1), work environment (X2), work discipline (Z), and employee performance (Y). The results of this research show that motivation has no significant effect on employee performance, while the work environment has a significant effect on employee performance. Work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. However, work discipline does not play a mediating role in the relationship between work motivation and employee performance, although it has been proven to be a partial mediating variable in the relationship between work environment and employee performance. This study highlights the practical importance of creating a supportive work environment and enforcing discipline policies to sustain performance improvements in the banking sector. The findings suggest that management should prioritize environmental interventions over motivation-based strategies alone. Future research should expand across multiple branches and incorporate objective performance metrics to validate these findings and explore additional mediating variables that may influence the motivation–performance relationship.

Abstract

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) reports that the global prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) was 9.3% in 2019, with projections indicating that the number of people affected will reach 578 million by 2030 and 700 million by 2045. Indonesia ranks seventh globally, with 10.7 million people living with diabetes—figures expected to rise to 13.7 million by 2030 and 16.6 million by 2045. West Java Province ranks 18th nationally based on diagnoses in populations aged ≥15 years. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of type 2 diabetes mellitus education in prevention efforts. This study employed a quantitative descriptive design to assess the impact of T2DM education on prevention among 77 nutrition students at Tasikmalaya Polytechnic, selected using Slovin’s formula with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered before and after the educational intervention, and analyzed using frequency distribution. Results revealed significant improvements in knowledge: prior to education, 53% of respondents demonstrated good knowledge, 44.1% adequate knowledge, and 2.9% poor knowledge. Following the intervention, 93.5% exhibited good knowledge, 6.5% adequate knowledge, and 0% poor knowledge—representing an increase of 31 respondents in the good knowledge category. The educational program was highly effective in enhancing students’ understanding of T2DM prevention. This improvement provides a vital foundation for fostering preventive health behaviors among future nutritionists, who will serve as health promoters in their communities. The findings offer implications for curriculum development, community health education initiatives, and long-term behavioral change strategies.

Abstract

Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, such as preeclampsia, are a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. This case report details the management of a patient with severe preeclampsia, highlighting the challenge of a progressive hemoglobin drop without thrombocytopenia. The report aims to describe the clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, and management of a term pregnancy complicated by severe preeclampsia and a suspected concurrent urinary tract infection. A case study was conducted on a 23-year-old woman, G2P1A0, at 39 weeks’ gestation, who presented in the active phase of labor with hypertension and bleeding. Data were collected through clinical examination, laboratory tests, and monitoring of the implemented treatment regimen. The patient was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia based on hypertension (160/100 mmHg) and proteinuria (2+). Laboratory findings revealed a significant drop in hemoglobin (from 11.4 g/dL to 8.2 g/dL) with normal platelet counts, ruling out HELLP syndrome, alongside leukocytosis and nitrite positivity suggesting a urinary tract infection. Management with a combination of magnesium sulfate, nifedipine, oxytocin, and antibiotics successfully stabilized maternal hemodynamics. This case underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring for atypical presentations such as progressive anemia in preeclampsia and affirms the effectiveness of a combined MgSO₄–nifedipine regimen, alongside infection control and timely delivery, in managing severe preeclampsia at term.

Abstract

Islamic banking has experienced significant growth in Indonesia, yet public awareness and utilization remain suboptimal, particularly in rural areas. Air Tiris Village, located in Kampar District, has a predominantly Muslim population of approximately 6,873 residents. However, most Muslims in this village still have minimal understanding of Islamic banking principles, products, and services. This study aims to analyze public perception, awareness, and behavioral tendencies toward Islamic banks among residents of Air Tiris Village. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, semi-structured interviews with ten purposively selected respondents representing various occupations, and documentation. Thematic analysis was conducted following Miles and Huberman’s framework of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that while 70% of respondents are aware of the existence of Islamic banks, only 50% have utilized Islamic banking products, primarily savings and financing services. Limited knowledge about Islamic banking products, perceived operational complexity, and insufficient educational outreach contribute to a continued preference for conventional banks. Furthermore, 60% of respondents expressed uncertainty regarding the riba-free nature of Islamic banking contracts, reflecting persistent misconceptions. These findings underscore the critical need for enhanced financial literacy programs, targeted community education, and strategic marketing initiatives to improve public understanding and adoption of Islamic banking services in rural, Muslim-majority communities. Implications for policymakers, financial institutions, and religious educators are discussed.
