Abstract

Liver dysfunction is a common health issue among the elderly and can significantly impact quality of life, particularly due to its progressive nature and frequently asymptomatic presentation in the early stages. Many older adults are unaware of liver problems, as mild symptoms such as fatigue, abdominal discomfort, or reduced appetite are often perceived as normal signs of aging. The Community Service Program (PKM) conducted at Panti Werdha Hana aimed to raise awareness among the elderly regarding the importance of early detection of liver dysfunction through SGOT and SGPT enzyme screening. This activity employed the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach, including laboratory examinations and interactive counseling on risk factors, healthy lifestyle practices, and the significance of regular health monitoring. Among the 76 participants, 10 individuals (13.16%) were found to have elevated SGOT levels, and 8 individuals (7.89%) had SGPT levels above the normal range. These findings underscore the importance of early detection in preventing the progression of chronic liver diseases, enhancing the quality of life of the elderly, and supporting more effective and sustainable healthcare interventions.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia contributes to various metabolic disorders, including gout and kidney disease. Detection of uric acid levels through simple screening is important for early risk identification. One non-pharmacological approach that can help reduce uric acid levels is maintaining adequate fluid intake. Uric acid level examination was performed by taking capillary blood from 104 adult participants. Results were obtained directly using the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) instrument. Education was provided to all participants using a leaflet discussing the role of hydration in supporting uric acid excretion. The average uric acid level was recorded at 4.08 ± 1.00 mg/dL. A total of 103 participants (99.0%) were in the normal range, and 1 participant (1.0%) had high levels. Most participants have not experienced excessive urate accumulation, but still need education to maintain this status. Uric acid level screening is useful as an effort to detect the risk of metabolic disorders early. Education about the importance of fluid intake is the main strategy to maintain uric acid levels within normal limits and prevent complications due to hyperuricemia.

Abstract

This community service program aims to promote learning transformation through the implementation of Augmented Reality (AR) based on Indonesian folklore at SMP Stella Matutina, Salatiga. The activity was conducted collaboratively by lecturers from the fields of Human Resource Management and English Education, involving teachers and 89 students from grades VII and VIII. The program integrated local wisdom and digital innovation in the form of interactive learning media to enhance students’ cultural literacy and learning motivation. The implementation method included needs assessment, development of bilingual AR content (Indonesian–English), teacher training, and classroom application. The results indicated increased student engagement, improved teacher skills in educational technology, and enhanced student awareness of cultural preservation. Folklore-based AR media proved to be an effective and sustainable strategy for developing contextual and innovative educational human resources

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to foster the spiritual life of NTT Migrant Communities on Oil Palm Plantations. The activities include weekly faith formation and year-end recollections. Through these weekly faith formation activities, NTT migrants receive regular spiritual care and further strengthen their faith amidst the harsh challenges of the working world. Furthermore, through the year-end recollections, NTT Catholics gain valuable experience through the materials provided by competent speakers and the series of activities presented. These activities foster a spirit of togetherness and solidarity, and a deeper understanding of the richness and meaning of the Church's sacraments.

Abstract

The innovation of learning-based instructional videos holds great potential to enhance interaction during the learning process. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using learning-based videos compared to traditional teaching methods. Using a qualitative approach with classroom action research (CAR), data were collected from 91 students across two schools through questionnaires and direct observation. The findings reveal that video usage not only enhances students’ learning motivation but also fosters active engagement in class discussions. Visually and interactively presented videos assist students in understanding complex concepts, despite challenges such as technological limitations and insufficient teacher training. This study concludes that the innovation of video-based learning significantly contributes to improving teaching effectiveness and student motivation, emphasizing the need for improved technological infrastructure and teacher training to optimize technology-based learning.

Abstract

This community service activity in the form of assistance aims to enhance the capacity of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Magelang City as a legislative body in formulating gender-responsive regulations through the drafting of the Regional Regulation on Gender Mainstreaming (Raperda PUG). This activity represents a commitment to supporting the development of regional regulations that are responsive to gender equality issues and provide legal certainty in achieving gender-inclusive national development, as mandated by Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2000 on Gender Mainstreaming in National Development (Inpres No. 9/2000). To achieve broader gender equality—in family, community, national, and state life—it is necessary to implement gender mainstreaming strategies within national development, one of which is through the formulation of regional regulations. The assistance was carried out in two stages, namely preparation and implementation. The output of this activity consists of analyses and recommendations on the Raperda PUG, covering sociological and juridical aspects, which were presented both orally and in written form to the Special Committee II (Pansus II) of the DPRD of Magelang City.

Abstract

The cigarette industry in Dawe District, Kudus, has been the backbone of the local economy for decades. However, this heavy dependence on a single industrial sector creates economic vulnerability, especially when production fluctuations or policy changes affect the tobacco industry. An economic empowerment program through agricultural entrepreneurship skills is highly relevant in this context. Modern agriculture using wick hydroponic technology and mini Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) offers an appropriate solution because it has characteristics that are suited to the geographic and socioeconomic conditions of the Dawe community. This PKM program has proven that economic empowerment through technology and skills transfer can be an effective strategy for increasing community income. Based on the results achieved, it is recommended to replicate similar programs in other areas with similar characteristics. Furthermore, ongoing monitoring and evaluation are necessary to ensure the sustainability of the businesses pioneered by participants. Collaboration with relevant agencies and microfinance institutions can strengthen participants' access to capital for broader business development.
