Abstract

Eggplant plants consist of various types such as purple eggplant, index eggplant, sparrow eggplant, Dutch eggplant, and others, easy to grow, and favored by consumers. The aim of the study was to analyze the levels of antioxidant bioactive compounds in the fresh and dried leaves of the sparrow eggplant in various growing locations. The research method is a quantitative chemical test with measurement parameters DPPH, Total Phenol, Tannins, and Flavonoids. Experimental treatments were fresh leaves and dried leaves of sparrow eggplant obtained from 3 locations, namely Malang, Kediri, and Mojokerto. The experimental results showed that there were differences in the content of bioactive compounds in sparrow eggplant leaves at the three locations and the potential of the Batu Malang area with an ambient temperature of around 210 C. - 25 0 C had the highest antioxidant levels, namely wet leaves, and dry leaves in the following order: DPPH 68%, and 70.37%; Total phenol 42.52 mg/g, and 32.13 mg/g; Tannins 0.87 mg/g and 0.76 mg/g; Flavonoids 0.97 mg/g and 2.12 mg/g.

Abstract

Culture media as a place for the maintenance of silk worms greatly affects the growth and nutritional content of silk worms. The purpose of this study was to analyze the interaction effect of the composition of culture media with a dose of EM4 on population growth, biomass and nutritional content of silk worms (Tubifex sp). This study used a completely randomized factorial design with 9 treatments and 3 replications each. Treatment D1M1, treatment D1M2, treatment D1M3, treatment D2M1, treatment D2M2, treatment D2M3, treatment D3M1, treatment D3M2 and treatment D3M3. Each treatment was kept in 27 trays. The resu its showed that the composition of the media material and the dose of EM4 had a very significant effect (P< 0.05) on population growth and biomass and nutritional content of silk worms. The highest average population and biomass growth was obtained in the D2M2 treatment, which was 27482.9 ind/m2 and 8.52 grams, and the best nutrient content was in the D3M3 treatment with a protein content of 50.88. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the combination of media materials with a percentage of 50% azolla pinnata and 50% chicken manure can increase the population, biomass and nutritional content of silk worms.

Abstract

Inflammation, bleeding, swelling, pain, dry socket are common complications of tooth extraction. The inflammatory response is divided into two, including the administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and steroid anti-inflammatory drugs. Every use of chemical drugs has side effects. Herbal ingredients are needed, namely avocado seeds as an alternative treatment in preventing inflammation in wounds after tooth extraction. Avocado seeds contain polyphenols that play a role in inflammation in wounds, including flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins. Experiment with randomized posttest design with control group design. Consisting of intervention group nano gel avocado seed extract 10%, positive control group povidone iodine 10% and aquadest. Observations were made for 7 days. The variables studied were inflammation of the wound after tooth extraction of rats and histopathological examination (Lymphocytes, Neocapillary and Fibroblasts). Based on the results of the unpaired test, the avocado and povidone groups were not significantly different (p=0.143), the avocado and aquadest groups had a significant difference (p=0.001) and the povidone and aquadest groups had a significant difference (p =0.015). The administration of nano gel of avocado seed extract with a concentration of 10% and 10% povidone iodine has the same ability in the process of wound regeneration and increases new blood vessels and can also reduce the number of lymphocyte inflammatory cells as evidenced by histological examination . The administration of nano gel of avocado seed extract is effective and can be applied as an alternative to prevent inflammation in wounds after tooth extraction in white rats.
