Mestaka: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat diterbitkan pada tahun 2022 oleh CV. Pakis Journal. Abstract

New cases of HIV sufferers continue to grow every year. In 2022, there was an increase in HIV/AIDS cases by 3.8% in adolescents in Indonesia from the previous year. According to the Ministry of Health, in the age range of 15-24 years, there are about 1,929 cases of HIV infection. 76% of the 91 AIDS cases in Southeast Sulawesi occurred at the age of 25-49 years. The purpose of this activity is to provide educational information to adolescents about reproductive health so that they are not involved in risky sexual relationships. This educational activity was conducted at SMA Negeri 6 Kendari in June 2025. 27 students at SMA Negeri 6 Kendari, as a sample group, were involved. The methods applied in this activity were a presentation and a health education game (Rank 1). The results showed that the average pre-test score was 85 (SD=16.09) and increased to 92 (SD=9.53) in the post-test. Paired-Samples T test results showed P-Valeu = 0.219 (α>0.05). Based on this, it shows that there is a difference in knowledge and understanding of reproductive health in 27 samples of SMA Negeri 6 Kendari students before and after the delivery of material (education).

Abstract

Basic training on Microsoft Word and scientific writing was held at Pesma Putra Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu to improve the digital literacy of new students. This activity was based on the participants' lack of understanding of important features in Microsoft Word that support academic writing, such as headings, automatic table of contents creation, page numbering, and citation management. The implementation method adopted a hands-on approach (learning by doing) with material delivery, practical sessions, and evaluation through a Google Form-based pre-test and post-test. The assessment results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding. The average pre-test score showed low understanding, while the post-test score rose to the category of understanding and very understanding according to the Likert scale. In addition to the increase in numbers, participants also displayed high enthusiasm during the practice. This activity shows that short training using interactive methods can have a positive influence on students' basic skills in using word processing software for academic purposes. This service activity is expected to be a reference for implementing similar training in the future, as well as supporting the improvement of digital literacy in the campus environment, especially in welcoming new students.

Abstract

Cognitive function is a complex neurophysiological ability of the human brain, including memory, language, attention, executive, and visuospatial abilities. Some of the main factors that affect cognitive function include brain maturity, social experience, sleep quality, mental health, lifestyle, and nutrition. The Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST) is one of the instruments used to measure cognitive function. This community service was carried out on 283 students of Madrasah Aliyah Negri in Tangerang City with the aim of assessing students' cognitive function scores. The results of the DSST examination can be a reference for students to improve or enhance their cognitive function or as an initial screening to assess cognitive function decline.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of online gaming on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children aged 8–12 at the Kasih Sayang Orphanage in Bengkulu. The intervention was conducted over a single day, utilizing educational and participatory observation methods, including interactive presentations, small-group discussions, semi-structured interviews, and observations during multiplayer gaming sessions (Minecraft, Mobile Legends, Free Fire, Clash of Clans). Data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach with thematic coding to categorize participants’ responses and behaviors. The findings reveal that before the intervention, the children tended to engage in excessive gaming, which negatively impacted their direct social interactions and self-regulation. Following the educational session, approximately 68% of the participants expressed a commitment to reducing their gaming duration and demonstrated more cooperative behavior during gameplay. This study highlights the effectiveness of contextual and participatory educational approaches in enhancing children's digital awareness and self-regulation, particularly within vulnerable environments such as orphanages. Therefore, ongoing support and active involvement of caregivers are strongly recommended to foster healthier gaming habits.

Abstract

The development of the culinary business in the digital era demands business actors to optimize online platforms in building brand image and increasing competitiveness. One of the important elements in this digital ecosystem is customer ratings and reviews, which can influence prospective consumers’ perceptions and business sustainability. This study aims to analyze the impact of customer ratings and reviews on the development of Kedai Tempoe Doloe in Bengkulu City. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 40 customers and semi-structured interviews with the shop manager. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis and frequency distribution percentage calculations. The results showed that the majority of customers gave positive ratings in aspects of service (55% very satisfied), food taste (62.5% very satisfied), shop atmosphere (45% very satisfied), cleanliness (50% very satisfied), and facilities (42.5% very satisfied), with an overall satisfaction rate (Very Satisfied + Satisfied) of 84%. Customers’ favorite menus were Cuanki Doeloe (37.5%), Bakmi Ayam (25%), Ubi Brullee (17.5%), Teh Solo (12.5%), and Cireng (7.5%). These findings were supported by interview results indicating the need for improvements in complementary facilities and seating comfort during peak hours. In conclusion, customer ratings and reviews play a strategic role in the evaluation process, decision-making, and service development of culinary businesses at Kedai Tempoe Doloe.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a voice command recognition system based on Machine Learning algorithms in supporting digital learning at Panti Asuhan Kasih Sayang, Bengkulu City. Four models were tested: DNN, LSTM, CNN, and Transformer. The Transformer model demonstrated the best performance with an accuracy of 93.4%, precision of 91.8%, recall of 92.1%, and F1-score of 92.0%, followed by LSTM with 90.2% accuracy, and DNN as the baseline with 84.7%. The system was tested in real-time with an average latency of 320ms and handled up to 28 voice commands per minute. The use of this system increased participants’ post-test scores by an average of 18 points and enhanced learning engagement by 85%. Qualitative data from interviews and focus group discussions indicated that the system supported students who struggle with text-based interfaces and was perceived as interactive and easy to use. These findings show that ASR based on Machine Learning is effective in low-resource settings and supports more inclusive learning aligned with the principles of Society 5.0.

Abstract

Creativity is one of the important points in the world of education, one of which is creativity in designing creative and innovative learning activities to anticipate or answer educational challenges in the 21st century. This service activity aims to find out the ability of biology education students in preparing innovative learning plans based on the independent curriculum. The method in this service is observation and analysis of problems and needs, determination of activity schedules, core activities/training with interactive lectures, workshops, presentation discussions, and reflections. The results of the service hone students' creativity in designing learning plans, where the resulting learning planning (100%) shows conformity with the principles of the Independent Curriculum, and 85% of them show strong innovation elements. Through practice-based training, workshops, and reflective discussions, students gain concrete experience in developing teaching modules that are contextual, differentiated, and oriented towards learning outcomes and authentic assessments. This activity also has strategic implications for the development of study programs and LPTK in preparing prospective teachers who are professional, adaptive, and responsive to the dynamics of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Reproductive health education for intellectually disabled female students in special schools remains inadequate due to the lack of tailored teaching modules, teacher training, and curriculum support. This community service program, initiated by nurses from the Department of Maternity and Reproductive Health Nursing at UMJ, aimed to enhance school readiness through three main interventions: provision of menstrual kits, installation of educational posters, and teacher training for 10 special school teachers. The program also targeted 15 intellectually disabled students and representatives of parents and school principals as policymakers. Nurses played a key role in designing instructional media, facilitating interactive workshops, and guiding pre‑post test evaluations. Implemented at SLB B‑C Cempaka Putih Central Jakarta from October 2024 to June 2025, this participatory approach yielded a 35% average increase in teacher knowledge scores, 85% respondent satisfaction, and positive student behavioral changes in recognizing menstrual signs and maintaining hygiene. This success demonstrates the enhanced capacity of nurses and schools to create an inclusive, supportive, and responsive environment for the reproductive needs of intellectually disabled adolescents.

Abstract

Since its first discovery in Indonesia, dengue fever (DHF) has remained a public health threat. Numerous measures have been taken to break the life cycle of its vector, Aedes aegypti, but the number of cases has yet to be eliminated. The disease seems to spread randomly, and its incidence is unpredictable. Often, outbreaks are accompanied by fatalities. Research into environmentally friendly and safe materials has been extensively conducted, but this disease has not yet been effectively eradicated. To maximize the prevention and elimination of dengue fever, it is crucial to understand the behavior of the vector to achieve accurate and optimal results. The primary objective of this activity is to prevent dengue fever, as several cases of dengue fever were reported in Grogol district earlier this year. This activity was held in May 2024 in Langenharjo sub-district, Sukoharjo city, with 47 participants. After participating, community understanding increased, as reflected in the average score of 89.79. Participants and cadres can carry out and socialize effective dengue fever prevention and are able to prevent and eliminate dengue fever using the ovitrap technique.

Abstract

This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to strengthen the intellectual capacity of specialised students of Tafsir at Ma'had Aly Attaqwa KH. Noer Alie through the organisation of a general lecture series. The programme is designed to bridge classical scholarly traditions (turats) with modern intellectual challenges by implementing an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. This methodology focuses on measurable outcomes, specifically the students' ability to critically examine and analyse contemporary thought, particularly the hermeneutics of Muhammad Syahrur. The results of the activity demonstrate the effectiveness of the OBE approach, as students showed measurable improvements in their analytical and critical thinking skills. They were not only able to scientifically critique new ideas but also strengthened their awareness of the fundamental role of turats as a solid methodological foundation. The key to engaging with new ideas like Syahrur's is a strong mastery of classical scholarly foundations. The main conclusion emphasises that mastery of classical interpretive methodology is an absolute prerequisite for engaging critically and productively with modern thought. Overall, this activity successfully prepared Ma'had Aly students to become ethical, intelligent, and critical Muslim intellectuals. They were equipped with the ability to bridge the gap between the solid intellectual heritage of Islam and the dynamics of their times, enabling them to provide authentic enlightenment and solutions to the community's needs.
