Abstract

This study addresses the growing need for multicultural awareness in higher education within increasingly diverse and pluralistic societies. Although the growth mindset has been widely examined in relation to academic resilience and achievement, its contribution to multicultural awareness remains underexplored. This research investigates how an advanced growth mindset supports the development of multicultural awareness among university students. Using a qualitative design, the study involved 11 students from the Social Studies Education Program at IAIN Parepare, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and analysis of reflective documents, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings identify five interconnected dimensions: intrinsic growth motivation, cognitive reframing of differences, self-regulated communication, cultural sensitivity in practice, and experiential multicultural learning. Students perceived cultural differences as opportunities for reflection rather than conflict, demonstrating adaptive and dialogical engagement. The study concludes that an advanced growth mindset functions as a psychological mediator, transforming cross-cultural challenges into reflective learning experiences. These findings imply the need to integrate reflective and cross-cultural collaborative learning into higher education curricula and are significant in bridging growth mindset theory with multicultural education to foster resilient and socially responsible graduates.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the relevance and strategic role of the Humanistic Education Approach in shaping strong and morally good competencies and character among students, particularly in facing the disruptions of the Society 5.0 Era. The background of this research is based on the paradox between rapid technological advancements and the emergence of moral and ethical crises in the education sector, evidenced by the increasing cases of students' disrespect towards teachers. Through a qualitative literature study, the humanistic approach is seen as an antithesis to the pragmatic education model that neglects students' potential and humanity. The research results show that humanistic principles, which view students as whole subjects oriented towards self-actualization, are vital for balancing the dominance of technology. Its implementation requires transforming the role of teachers into facilitators and dialogue partners who guide students not only in intellectual aspects but also in the internalization process of attitudes, values, and morality.

Abstract

Principal learning leadership is an important factor in improving the quality of education, but its implementation in remote areas still faces various structural and resource limitations. This study aims to describe the learning leadership practices of school principals in schools in remote areas of South Central Timor Regency, analyze adaptive strategies applied in managing learning in the midst of limitations, and formulate its conceptual contribution to the development of educational leadership theory. This study uses a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design in three schools. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with principals and teachers, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically to identify patterns of practice and leadership strategies. The results of the study show that learning leadership practices run in diverse and contextual forms. School principals continue to carry out the functions of supervision and management of learning, but their intensity and quality are influenced by personal capacity, structural support such as infrastructure and access to training, and government policies. Adaptive strategies that emerge include strengthening internal solidarity, self-training, and orientation to the sustainability of educational services in the midst of limitations. This study concludes that learning leadership in remote areas is adaptive and contextual, so its development needs to consider geographical, social, and structural factors to be in harmony with the reality of the field.

Abstract

The study explores the integration of deep learning approaches into high school Sociology education, addressing the need for transformative teaching methodologies in an era of increasing complexity in social dynamics. Sociology, with its focus on understanding societal structures and relationships, provides an ideal platform for employing deep learning strategies such as project-based learning, case studies, and reflective discussions. These methods encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world issues, fostering both academic and personal growth. Utilizing a qualitative methodology and a literature review approach, the research synthesizes insights from recent studies within the last five years, emphasizing their relevance and credibility. Findings reveal that deep learning enhances students' analytical skills, empathy, and cultural awareness, bridging the gap between classroom theories and real-world applications. The study highlights the need for professional development for educators, supportive policies, and equitable learning environments to address implementation challenges. Future research should examine the long-term impact of deep learning on students' academic and career trajectories and explore technological advancements in facilitating this approach. By advocating for deep learning in Sociology, the study underscores its potential to nurture socially conscious individuals equipped to navigate and address contemporary societal complexities.

Abstract

This study examines the Walk & Talk method as an innovative approach to qualitative research, emphasizing its ability to capture rich, contextually grounded data through mobility and embodied experiences. By integrating walking interviews into fieldwork in Nepal, the method enhances data collection via seeding, feeding, and bridging processes. These processes facilitate reflective dialogue (seeding), provide deeper insights through physical engagement (feeding), and connect individual narratives to broader social and cultural contexts (bridging). The study illustrates how the Walk & Talk method shifts from inductive to abductive reasoning, uncovering new insights and theoretical connections in real-time. Fieldwork on spiritual practices, social relations, tourism management, and climate change adaptation demonstrates the method's effectiveness in exploring the intersections of place, identity, and social dynamics. The study highlights the method's potential for interdisciplinary applications in social anthropology, cultural sociology, and environmental studies, expanding qualitative research methodologies to explore intersectional identities and community resilience across diverse contexts.
