Abstract

The phenomenon of educational dualism in the Buntet Pesantren environment is reflected in santri who simultaneously pursue formal education at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 3 Cirebon, which implements the Merdeka Curriculum, and traditional education at Pesantren Riyyadussholihin grounded in salaf traditions. This study examines the dynamics of learning processes and actor actions in navigating these two educational systems through Talcott Parsons’ structural-functionalism, using the AGIL framework (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency). The research used a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participatory observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with students, teachers, and pesantren authorities. The findings reveal that Adaptation is achieved through flexible scheduling and curriculum synchronization between institutions. Goal Attainment reflects a dual orientation toward academic achievement and professional careers in the madrasah, alongside the pursuit of barakah (spiritual blessing) in the pesantren. Integration is primarily mediated by the kyai, who bridges traditional values and modern educational demands, while Latency is maintained through symbolic systems that enable role-switching. This study concludes that systemic equilibrium is sustained by pesantren cultural values that effectively integrate critical rationality within a cohesive educational framework.

Abstract

This study describes the cultural ethos that affects student achievement, where cultural ethos forms students' learning habits (habitus) so that it has an impact on student motivation in achieving achievement. This research was conducted using a correlational quantitative research method using the Pearson correlation test to determine the relationship between two variables, namely the cultural ethos variable (x) and student achievement (y). This study was conducted on 368 people consisting of students in grades X, XI, XII and alumni. Sampling procedures by means of systematic random sampling, data collection using questionnaires and data analysis is done univariate, bivariate with normality test and validity test. The results of this study found that there was an influence of the cultural ethos taught by students' families on improving students' learning achievement. High-achieving students recognise that the cultural ethos taught by their families provides motivation to be enthusiastic in learning and achieving. Interestingly, there is a form of application of cultural values passed down from generation to generation to students from both parents and grandparents to remind them to motivate them to be enthusiastic in pursuing their dreams and learning achievements.

Abstract

The role of social capital, trust, cooperation, and community networks has received limited empirical attention in explaining why certain community health centers (Puskesmas) can maintain effective service delivery despite structural limitations. This study aims to examine how social capital contributes to the optimization of healthcare services at Puskesmas Sampang and Kroya in Cilacap Regency and to explore how community networks, solidarity, and trust mitigate the challenges posed by digital and infrastructural constraints. Methods: A qualitative case study design was employed, drawing on in-depth interviews, participant observation, focus group discussions, and supporting documents. Data were analyzed using an interactive model through coding, categorization, and thematic interpretation. The findings reveal that strong social networks, particularly family ties, neighborhood associations, religious groups, and community WhatsApp networks, serve as critical channels for the exchange of health information and facilitate patient navigation of digital systems. Mutual trust between patients and healthcare workers reinforces institutional legitimacy, while community solidarity helps compensate for limited digital literacy, especially among elderly and low-income patients. However, challenges persist, including inconsistent digital system use, administrative bottlenecks, and occasional misuse of social ties that affect fairness in queue management. Digital innovation improves efficiency but reduces interpersonal interaction among staff. Social capital plays a pivotal role in sustaining rural healthcare performance by enhancing access, trust, and community participation. While it strengthens institutional resilience, it cannot fully substitute for structural improvements. Integrating community-based networks with inclusive digital literacy initiatives is essential to achieving equitable and optimized healthcare services in rural settings.

Abstract

The lack of literacy engagement in Indonesia is clearly manifested in the 2022 PISA data, which places the country near the bottom at 69th place out of 80 nations. To address this challenge, journalistic extracurricular activities have the potential to serve as a tool for structured and sustainable literacy habituation. This study aims to analyze the process of literacy habituation through journalistic extracurriculars at MAN 2 Pati using the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu’s Social Practice Theory. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation involving the advisor (IF), the chairperson (ES), daily management (MY and DM), and 52 extracurricular members. The results indicate that literacy habituation is formed through three social practices within the journalistic arena: daily practices (routine news writing), weekly practices (mentoring and evaluation), and annual practices (Basic Journalistic Training and the publication of Al-Lababan magazine). These practices foster the habit of reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills. By connecting together various forms of capital (cultural, social, economic, and symbolic) the journalistic arena turns literacy into an internalized practice. This development is shaped by strong teamwork, mentorship, and institutional support, even as it contends with challenges like academic workload and time management. Journalistic extracurricular activities are proven effective in forming a literacy habitual that creates an intelligent, critical, and literate generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of human trafficking occurring in the prostitution industry in Indramayu Regency, West Java, from a social and legal perspective. From a social perspective, this study focuses on the driving factors that cause individuals, particularly women and children, to become trapped in prostitution networks, which are often accompanied by exploitation and coercion. These factors include poverty, low levels of education, limited employment opportunities, and a lack of understanding of human rights. Furthermore, cultural aspects and social norms within the community also play a role in supporting these exploitative practices. From a legal perspective, this study assesses the effectiveness of law enforcement against perpetrators of human trafficking and the protection provided to victims. Although Indonesia has several regulations prohibiting human trafficking, the implementation of these laws and their enforcement in the field still face many obstacles. The method used in this research was a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. Respondents included victims, perpetrators, the police, and social institutions involved in combating human trafficking and prostitution. The research findings indicate that human trafficking in the prostitution industry in Indramayu is driven not only by economic factors but also by the weakness of the legal system and the enforcement of justice. Furthermore, victims often lack adequate protection and are often trapped in a cycle of violence and exploitation. This research suggests the need for increased public awareness, improvements to the legal system, and an active role from the government and non-governmental organizations to eradicate human trafficking and provide better alternatives for victims.

Abstract

Universitas Negeri Semarang, as a Teacher Education Institution, has developed an Elementary School Labschool to support its vision of educational excellence. However, challenges remain in implementing inclusive education at the school. This study aims to analyze (1) the process of teacher adaptation in implementing inclusive education, (2) teachers’ strategies for developing inclusive education competencies, and (3) supporting and inhibiting factors affecting implementation. Data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed qualitatively using source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings show that teachers adapt through appraisal and employ coping strategies, including problem-focused coping—such as participating in training programs and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)—and emotion-focused coping through emotional regulation, positive affirmation, and collaboration with support teachers. Teacher competency development strategies include formal training, in-house training, independent learning via digital platforms, and the enhancement of social-emotional skills. Supporting factors include government policies, institutional facilities, and professional development programs, while inhibiting factors involve limited disability-friendly infrastructure, administrative workload, unsustainable training, and constraints in initial student assessment. The study concludes that the successful implementation of inclusive education depends on the synergy among teacher readiness, policy support, and adequate facilities.

Abstract

The phenomenon of students pursuing the wrong major is a prevalent issue in higher education, yet it remains minimally explored from a philosophical perspective. This study aims to explore the experiences of students who feel mismatched with their major through the lens of Stoic philosophy, particularly focusing on aspects of feelings, attitudes, and actions concerning fate. This research employs a philosophical inquiry approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Stoic theory of fate acceptance, which encompasses feelings, attitudes, and actions. The findings indicate that students in misaligned majors were able to reflect on their experiences in a Stoic manner by managing negative emotions, accepting reality as an optimal part of fate, and undertaking rational and prudent actions in their academic pursuits and future trajectory. This finding suggests that Stoicism can be a relevant approach to addressing the psychological dynamics of university students. This study contributes to the development of reflective approaches in academic advising and enriches the discourse of practical philosophy in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Internal Quality Assurance System Management (SPMI) in an effort to improve school performance at SMAS Kartika X-1 and SMA Negeri 86 South Jakarta. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study method, where data are collected through interviews, observations, and document reviews. The results of the survey indicate that SPMI significantly contributes to improving school performance through comprehensive and participatory planning, implementation supported by teacher training and technology, data-driven systematic evaluation, and responsive follow-up. The novelty of the research lies in the resulting collaborative model, which emphasizes the active synergy of all stakeholders principals, teachers, students, and parents in creating a sustainable culture of quality. Constraints, such as resource limitations and resistance to change, can be overcome through collective commitment and capacity-building strategies. In conclusion, SPMI is a strategic tool to create an educational ecosystem that is accountable and oriented towards continuous improvement. As policy recommendations, it is necessary to strengthen school leadership, invest in teacher professional development, and integrate technology in the quality monitoring system to support the effectiveness of SPMI at the school level.

Abstract

This research analyzes how patriarchy in Sasak customs is negotiated by women through experiences of safety and comfort in public and domestic spheres. Unlike the view that sees patriarchy as a static cultural structure, this study positions tradition as an arena of power relations that are continuously produced, maintained, and challenged in everyday social practices. Using a mixed-methods approach, qualitative data were collected through phenomenological interviews with Sasak women, while quantitative data were obtained through a Likert-scale survey of 34 respondents. The research results show that women significantly reject certain patriarchal practices, such as early marriage and unconditional obedience, and strongly express support for gender education and cultural change. The pisuke tradition emerges as the most problematic arena because it often causes psychological pressure and marginalizes women's voices. Statistical analysis also shows significant differences based on marital status and education level, where unmarried women and those with higher education levels exhibit a more critical attitude toward patriarchy. These findings affirm that patriarchy in Sasak customs is not monolithic, but rather negotiated across generations, thereby creating space for culturally transformative strategies oriented toward the protection and agency of women

Abstract

Art education in Gorontalo faces the phenomenon of sonic imperialism, which forces traditional Polopalo musical instruments to transform into a diatonic tone system for the sake of curriculum standardization and modernization. This transformation causes an erosion of sound identity, where the unique acoustic characteristics of bamboo are sacrificed in pursuit of Western standard frequency precision, resulting in the cultural alienation of students from their local heritage. This study aims to dissect the aesthetic and organological impacts of Polopalo diatonicization and formulate pedagogical reconstruction strategies capable of restoring local wisdom values. Using a qualitative approach with an ethnomusicological case study design, data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies of groups of maestros and education practitioners in Gorontalo. The results of the study show a fundamental epistemological shift, in which the terminology of local sound classification (Mo bulongo, Mo toliyongo, Mo elenggengo) has been replaced by a solmization system, creating a practice of cultural museumization in schools. The findings also confirm the phenomenon of timbral subordination or loss of richness in diatonic Polopalo when combined with modern instruments. However, this aesthetic degradation is not solely due to organological factors, but is exacerbated by a crisis of acoustic literacy and non-idiomatic orchestration techniques among composers. As a solution, this study recommends the application of the Musical Bilingualism model, which places mastery of traditional sound characteristics as the main aesthetic foundation before students explore diatonic variants, in order to preserve the continuity of Gorontalo's musical identity.
