Abstract

On tanker ships, boilers play a crucial role in providing steam for various operational needs. The stability and reliability of the temperature and water level control system are essential to maintaining efficiency and safety on board. This research aims to design and develop an automatic control system using Outseal PLC and HMI to regulate the temperature and water level in boilers. The research method used is experimental, where the system is designed, developed, and tested to evaluate its effectiveness.The system design involves a DS18B20 sensor to detect temperature, an ultrasonic sensor to measure water levels, and a heater as a heating actuator. The Outseal PLC functions as the main control unit, while the HMI facilitates monitoring and operation. The results show that the system can control water temperature within the desired range, with an average setpoint achievement time of 3.5 to 4.5 minutes. Additionally, the water level control system operates in real-time with a high level of accuracy.The implementation of this automatic control system based on Outseal PLC and HMI is expected to improve operational efficiency and safety on tanker ships. Moreover, it can serve as a reference for developing similar control systems in the maritime industry.

Abstract

One of the factors that can affect the performance of a dosing pump motor is the current and voltage supplied to the motor. Optimal variations in current and voltage can increase the fluid flow rate and dosing accuracy, while mismatches can lead to instability during operation. This experiment aims to reveal how changes in current and voltage affect the performance and efficiency of a dosing pump motor. The method used for data collection is an experiment on the observed object, namely a three-phase 380 Volt, 60 Hz, 3360 rpm induction motor of a dosing pump, by conducting tests and measurements of current, voltage, power, and stroke adjustment (valve) variation on the dosing pump during production. Based on the results, at a valve angle of 10°, the lowest setting, the voltage was 360 V and the current was 1.8 A, producing a motor power output of 102.8 Watts and a power factor of 0.42. When the valve was increased to 100°, the voltage was 380 V and the current rose to 5.70 A, resulting in a power output of approximately 2,166 Watts and a power factor of 0.0384, indicating that the motor's efficiency did not reach a power factor of 1. The variation in stroke adjustment (valve) on the dosing pump motor affects the current, voltage, and power output of the motor. Higher current and voltage are required by the motor to drive the dosing pump, as pumping fluid at a higher flow rate requires more power.

Abstract

This research aims to design an Adjustable Spreader Bar Telescopic that has high flexibility to adjust the needs of lifting loads in the long range of 3.48 meters to 4.27 meters. The design is carried out to provide solutions to the needs of the industry in lifting heavy loads with an optimal level of safety and efficiency. The research method involves several stages, starting from making geometric designs using CAD software, determining and entering the properties of the materials used, as well as modeling and simulation with the help of finite element analysis (FEA) software using ANSYS. The material used in this study is ASTM A992, which has high tensile strength and good deformation resistance. The simulation results show that the design of this telescopic bar spreader is able to withstand loads of up to 300 tons. In the simulation test, the minimum deformation was recorded at 0 meters, while the maximum deformation reached only 0.00031851 meters. The equivalent stress in the load has a minimum value of 9.7863 Pascal and a maximum of 3.1404 × 10⁸ Pascal. This value is still below the yield strength limit of ASTM A992 material, so the design is declared safe and feasible for application in the field. This research proves that the designed Adjustable Spreader Bar Telescopic is not only able to meet the needs of lifting loads with high capacity, but also has the flexibility of length that varies as needed. This advantage makes it an innovative solution for use in construction, logistics, and heavy industry projects that require lifting equipment with high performance and guaranteed safety.

Abstract

This study discusses the development of a web-based Guest Book Information System at PT. PLN (Persero) UPDL Tuntungan Medan as a solution to the inefficiencies of manual guest registration, which is often prone to errors and data loss. The main objective of this research is to design and implement an information system that improves operational efficiency, data recording accuracy, data security, and service quality for visitors. The research employed the Waterfall Model with stages including requirement analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The results show that the developed system successfully replaced manual processes with faster, more accurate, and integrated digital processes. Key features include guest data recording, searching, reporting, and security management through authentication. In addition to enhancing efficiency and security, the system also supports environmental sustainability by reducing paper usage. Therefore, the web-based guest book information system can serve as an effective digital solution model for improving administrative performance and organizational services.

Abstract

One of the key elements in ensuring this safety is the readiness and seaworthiness of the ship's safety equipment, particularly the life raft or rescue raft. The life raft functions as an emergency evacuation device for the crew in the event of dangerous situations such as fire, flooding, or the ship sinking.To ensure that this equipment is always in ready-to-use condition, regular maintenance and inspection processes are required, carried out in accordance with international maritime safety standards.This study aims to examine the maintenance process of the life raft on the TB. Sea Win I vessel, as well as evaluate its compliance with applicable safety standards. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including direct observation of the life raft unit, interviews with company management, and documentation of maintenance reports, function test reports, and reinspection certificates.The research results indicate that the life raft maintenance process is carried out systematically and in accordance with the provisions of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations, specifically Chapter III Regulation 20. Maintenance includes air pressure testing of the inflation cylinder, physical inspection of the raft, checking the emergency equipment inside the life raft such as flares, food supplies, life buoys, and navigational aids, as well as replacing components that have passed their expiration dates.This process is also documented officially through inspection reports and reinspection certificates issued by classification societies or authorized agencies. With regular and professional maintenance, the condition of the life raft on the TB. Sea Win I vessel can be ensured to remain in a ready-to-use state and comply with both national and international maritime safety standards.

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of Sailing Approval Letter (SPB) issuance policy at the Harbor Master's Office by PT. Multi Jaya Samudera Belawan. SPB is an official document that must be possessed by every vessel before sailing as a form of authorization and supervision to ensure shipping operations comply with safety and security standards established by port authorities. The research methodology employs qualitative and descriptive approaches through interviews, direct observation, and document analysis at the Harbor Master's Office. The SPB issuance process includes several stages: application receipt with attachments of administrative, health, and safety documents; administrative verification to ensure document completeness and validity; physical vessel inspection of safety equipment completeness, technical conditions, security systems, and environmental compliance; SPB issuance as valid proof of sailing authorization; monitoring during voyage; documentation report issuance; and periodic procedure evaluation. Research findings indicate that PT. Multi Jaya Samudera implements SPB issuance in accordance with applicable regulations. However, obstacles encountered include delays in document submission due to vessel unpreparedness and inadequate internal administration, time-consuming physical vessel inspections, lack of coordination among related agencies, complex procedures, limited human resources at the Harbor Master's Office, technology and infrastructure constraints, rapid regulatory changes, and adverse weather conditions. The research recommends enhanced officer training, thorough document verification before submission, and updates to procedures and supporting facilities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the SPB issuance process.

Abstract

Renewal of Special Purpose Ship Safety (SPS) certificates is a crucial process in maintaining the seaworthiness of Accomodation Working Barge (AWB) type ships, which function as residential residences for offshore workers. Certificates that have expired must be renewed through a renewal mechanism in accordance with shipping safety regulations. This study aims to examine the application of the Shipping and Maritime Information System (SIMKAPEL) in the process of renewing the SPS certificate of the AWB Rajawali Miracle ship by PT. The Batam Global Kencana Cruise is under the supervision of the Batam Special KSOP. SIMKAPEL as a digital platform from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation provides the convenience of certification services efficiently and transparently, allowing service users to access the status of the application at any time without having to be present directly at the office. The research method used is the field method (Field Research) through direct observation of the online submission process, physical examination of the ship, and issuance of certificates, as well as the library research method with literature studies from relevant sources. The results of the study show that SIMKAPEL is able to speed up the administrative process, improve data accuracy, and strengthen service transparency. These findings recommend the optimization of digital systems in ship certification services as a strategic step towards a modern and responsive transformation of maritime bureaucracy.

Abstract

Procedure for Issuing a Container Release Order (SP2) in Improving Depot Service Efficiency at PT. Prima Indonesia Logistik Belawan / Maria Christina Lumbanraja / Nit.2201005 / Department of Commercial Shipping and Port Administration – Politeknik Adiguna Maritim Indonesia Medan 2025. The preparation of this paper is intended to conduct an in-depth study of the procedures for issuing Container Release Orders (SP2) and to assess their impact on the efficiency of depot services at PT. Prima Indonesia Logistics Belawan. The SP2 is a vital document that serves as official authorization to release containers from the depot to their final destination, and the issuance mechanism largely determines the smooth flow of logistics. In practice in the field, delays and inaccuracies in SP2 procedures often lead to long queues, operational congestion, and a decline in service quality. The author uses a qualitative approach through direct observation or field research, supplemented by library research to strengthen the analysis. The findings indicate that the biggest obstacles to SP2 issuance lie in the slow data verification process, limitations in digital systems, and weak coordination between departments. Therefore, improvements in operational standards, integration of information systems, and enhancement of human resource capacity through training are needed. With these improvements, the container release process is expected to be faster, more accurate, and capable of supporting smooth logistics distribution overall.

Abstract

The loading and unloading process of dangerous goods at ports requires selective operational standards to ensure safety, security, and smooth logistics flow. The Inaportnet system as an integrated digital platform in port services has been implemented to accelerate and simplify the administrative process of cargo handling, including dangerous goods. This research aims to examine the procedures for handling dangerous goods through the Inaportnet system, analyze the effectiveness of its implementation, and identify challenges and solutions encountered in the field. The research methodology employs field observation and library research. Based on Minister of Transportation Regulation PM 16 of 2021, dangerous goods are classified into three forms: liquid, solid, and gas, with nine hazard classes according to IMDG Code. Handling procedures include cargo classification, labeling and packaging according to standards, and permit processing through Inaportnet which encompasses system login, BMBB application creation, document verification, KSOP approval, and PNBP payment. This system integrates data among agencies such as KSOP, Customs, KPLP, and Pelindo for real-time monitoring, enhancing transparency and port operational efficiency. Research findings indicate that Inaportnet provides convenience in licensing and monitoring dangerous goods. However, obstacles encountered include technical server disruptions, document delays from third parties, and limited supporting facilities at several wharves. Recommended solutions include strengthening technology infrastructure, implementing emergency manual protocols, enhancing HR competency, expanding port facilities, and improving inter-agency integration to optimize the system in supporting maritime safety and national logistics efficiency.

Abstract

Research into the energy sector from a risk management perspective is urgent, particularly in addressing the vulnerability of Indonesia's energy system to various risks. This research is expected to provide strategic solutions and policy recommendations to improve the resilience and reliability of the national energy sector. This article specifically aims to map research on risk management in the Indonesian energy sector through bibliometric analysis. A total of 34 selected articles that met the inclusion criteria were obtained through a systematic screening and search process in the Google Scholar Database. Overall, 84 keywords were used in the collection of articles, which were then further analyzed. Findings include, among others, the presence of many different individual researchers, indicating widespread interest but the lack of a stable research group. Second, temporally, an upward trend in the number of publications has been identified in recent years, indicating that this topic is increasingly relevant. In terms of publication type, articles are relatively evenly distributed across various journals, focusing on engineering, management, and policy. The results of the network mapping analysis using VOSviewer software based on keywords indicate that this research area remains very broad. These keywords are spread across 13 different thematic clusters, reflecting the many dimensions of risk management that remain to be explored. There is ample opportunity for researchers to conduct more in-depth exploration, and efforts are needed to determine a more precise and specific research focus to provide effective and applicable solutions to address the strategic challenges of Indonesia's energy sector resilience.
