Abstract

Uniform heat distribution across plastic materials is a critical aspect of manufacturing processes such as molding and thermoforming. Irregularities in temperature distribution can lead to product defects, including deformation, uneven shrinkage, and compromised surface quality. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing heat distribution uniformity on the surface of plastic materials using a sealing press machine. An experimental method was employed to analyze heat distribution on Polypropylene (PP) surfaces using the sealing press. The study relied entirely on primary data regarding heat application specifically temperatures of 110°C, 140°C, and 180°C; a pressure of 3 bar; and a press distance of 0.08 m. The results indicate that heat distribution within the polymer is significantly influenced by the material's thermal conductivity, pressure, duration, press distance, and the conductive heating mode. Variations in the polymer's thermophysical properties result in distinct temperature distribution responses depending on the heating method used.

Abstract

The growth of small and medium-scale food industries necessitates packaging processes that are rapid, neat, and hygienic to enhance product quality and business competitiveness. Common issues associated with manual packaging include imperfect seals, lengthy processing times, and inefficient labor utilization. This study aims to design and analyze a pneumatic plastic sealing machine as a solution to improve the efficiency and quality of food packaging processes. The research methodology involved device design, pneumatic component selection, machine frame fabrication, system assembly, and performance testing. The pneumatic system utilizes an operating pressure of 3 bar to drive the plastic sealing process. Testing was conducted to analyze production capacity, processing time, and seal quality under various operating conditions. The results indicate that the pneumatic plastic sealing machine achieves a production capacity of up to 60 seals per minute. Optimal seal quality was obtained at a heater temperature of 170°C with a sealing time of 1 second, producing a tight, strong, and uniform seal with a 95% success rate. Compared to manual methods, the pneumatic sealing machine increases packaging process efficiency by 50%, delivers superior and consistent seal quality, and enhances overall productivity and process efficiency. This machine represents an effective and efficient appropriate technology solution for small and medium-scale food industries.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is a study that connects mathematical concepts with community culture, one of which is knitting activities. This study aims to explore the fundamental mathematical activities in knitting activities based on Alan Bishop's theory, namely counting, measuring, determining location, designing, playing, and explaining. This qualitative research uses an ethnographic approach. The data collection techniques are through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of knitters in the Jember Knitting Community (KRJ). Meanwhile, data analysis includes data reduction by filtering data that corresponds to the fundamental mathematical activities, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that knitting activities contain six fundamental mathematical activities, namely measuring activities that appear in determining product sizes, designing activities that appear in compiling knitted product designs, determining location activities that appear in placing motifs on knitting, counting activities that appear in the process of counting stitches, playing activities that appear through exploration of motif and color variations, while explaining activities that appear in explaining knitting techniques and steps. In addition, knitting activities also contain various mathematical concepts, such as number patterns, arithmetic operations, measurement, geometry, symmetry, geometric transformations, creativity and mathematical reasoning, and mathematical logic. This research shows that knitting activities can be used as a resource for contextual, culture-based mathematics learning.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has increased the intensity of early childhood interactions with digital media. This condition requires the introduction of digital ethics from an early age to prevent the emergence of negative behaviors, such as the use of impolite language, exposure to inappropriate content, and cyberbullying. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing scratch programming with magic words content in improving the understanding of digital ethics in children aged 5-6 years. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research instrument has passed validity and reliability tests with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.70. Data analysis was carried out using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the Wilcoxon test, and the N-Gain test. The results of the normality test showed that the pretest and posttest data were not normally distributed, so the analysis was continued using the Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significance value <0.001 which indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. The results of the N-Gain test obtained an average value of 0.8770 which is included in the high category. Thus, the implementation of scratch programming with magic words content is effective in improving children aged 5-6 years old's understanding of digital ethics.

Abstract

The Araceae family (taro) is a group of understory plants that have high diversity and play an important role ecologically and economically, but some of its species are still less well known by the public. This study aims to identify the types of plants of the Araceae family and analyze their diversity levels in the Suranadi Nature Tourism Park (TWA). The study used a descriptive exploratory method with a quadrat transect technique at three observation stations. Each station consisted of two plots measuring 5 × 5 m, resulting in six observation plots. The results of the study found 11 species of Araceae belonging to 8 genera with a total of 118 individuals. The genus with the largest number of species is Syngonium (3 species), followed by Dieffenbachia (2 species), while the other genera each consist of 1 species. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index value ranged from 0.772–1.491 with a low to moderate category. Environmental conditions of 26–28°C, 55–75% humidity, and a soil pH of 5.5–6.0 indicate that the Suranadi Natural Park (TWA) offers suitable habitat conditions for the growth of Araceae. The results of this study indicate that the Suranadi Natural Park has a relatively high diversity of Araceae and can serve as a source of information for conservation, education, and area management.

Abstract

Plankton sampling was conducted at three observation stations in the study area, with samples collected from surface waters using standard plankton sampling techniques. Phytoplankton and zooplankton were identified microscopically, and community structure was evaluated using abundance, diversity (Shannon-Wiener), evenness, and dominance indices. A total of six phytoplankton classes and four zooplankton classes were identified. The phytoplankton community was represented mainly by members of Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Dinophyceae, Coscinodiscophyceae, and Zygnematophyceae, while the zooplankton community was dominated by taxa belonging to Crustacea, Rotatoria, Hexanauplia, and Tubulinea. Phytoplankton species richness was higher than zooplankton richness, indicating a relatively stable aquatic ecosystem with a well-developed primary producer community. Phytoplankton abundance ranged from 709,652 to 2,414,621 cells m⁻³ across stations, whereas zooplankton abundance ranged from 51,119 to 300,700 individuals m⁻³. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H′) showed moderate diversity (1 ≤ H′ ≤ 3), suggesting sufficient productivity, fairly balanced ecosystem conditions, and moderate ecological pressure. Evenness values indicated a relatively uniform distribution of plankton among sampling stations, while dominance index values showed that no single taxon dominated the community. The plankton community structure suggests that the study area remains in a relatively stable ecological condition and supports balanced aquatic ecosystem functioning.
