Abstract

This study investigates the volatility of gold prices by applying the Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) model and extending it with the GARCH-M model, incorporating the Federal Reserve's interest rate as an external variable. The GARCH(1,1) model revealed a positive average daily return for gold, with high sensitivity to recent price changes, indicated by the significant estimation of mu and a high alpha1 value. The persistence of past volatility on current volatility is reflected by a beta1 value close to one. In the GARCH-M model development, a significant negative relationship was found between the Federal Reserve's interest rates and gold returns, suggesting that an increase in the Federal Reserve's interest rates could potentially decrease gold returns. An increase in the Log Likelihood value and improvements in information criteria such as the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and the Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) indicate that the GARCH-M model provides a better fit than the GARCH(1,1) model that uses only gold price data. The study concludes that macroeconomic factors like the Federal Reserve's interest rates play a crucial role in influencing gold price volatility, and these findings can aid investors and portfolio managers in devising more effective risk management strategies. Additionally, the findings contribute to financial theory by highlighting the importance of multivariate models in the analysis of asset price volatility.

Abstract

The use of the Indonesian language in memoranda of understanding and agreements with foreign parties is mandated as regulated in Law Number 24 of 2009 concerning the Flag, Language, State Institutions, and National Anthem as well as Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2019 concerning the Use of the Indonesian Language. However, the provisions do not clearly stipulate the legal consequences if not adhered to, leading to the issuance of Supreme Court Circular Letter Number 3 of 2023 regarding the Implementation of Formulations from the Plenary Meeting of the Supreme Court Chamber in 2023 as Guidelines for the Implementation of Duties for Courts. This raises questions about the status of the Supreme Court Circular Letter within the National Legal System and the legal implications of the Supreme Court Circular Letter regarding the use of the Indonesian language in memoranda of understanding and agreements between foreign parties.

Abstract

In collective decision-making, a phenomenon known as "groupthink" can happen when individuals of the group have a tendency to agree with the majority view, even when that view is not supported by reason. The primary objective of this study is to examine how group cohesiveness and leadership affect groupthink and how it affects the standard of decision-making. The outcomes of earlier studies are analyzed in this study using a methodical literature review approach. According to study findings, group cohesiveness and dominant leadership can raise the possibility of groupthink. Two factors contribute to this: (1) Dominant leaders frequently dictate how decisions are made, which limits group members' ability to participate and conduct discussions; and (2) Cohesive groups typically have a high degree of mutual trust, which makes it comfortable for members to voice differing ideas. The effectiveness of the decision-making process might be negatively impacted by groupthink.

Abstract

The Marine Operating System (MOS) is an application that facilitates the planning, recording, and reporting of internal ship service information. The implementation of MOS at Tanjung Priok Port has shortened service times, reduced operational costs, and increased logistics productivity. However, the implementation of MOS faces various technical and non-technical challenges, including a lack of capacity in selecting or developing suitable information systems. PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) has made significant investments in the implementation of information systems but still faces challenges in system adoption. This study aims to investigate the use of the Human Organization Technology FIT (HOT FIT) analysis on the level of MOS utilization at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional II. The research objectives include testing and analyzing the quality of systems, information, and services regarding user satisfaction with MOS and its influence on net benefits. This research is expected to contribute theoretically to the development of business administration management science and serve as a reference for further research in the same field.

Abstract

There are 2 main important things to improve knowledge management maturity (KMM), namely organizational culture and proper HR management. There are no studies on human resource culture and management that are specific to increasing KMM in tertiary institutions. Empirical research on the influence of higher education quality culture as a goal of implementing the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) on all tertiary institutions in Indonesia and the influence of HR management on KMM is still very limited. This study aims to develop a model for improving KMM in Indonesian universities through the implementation of a quality culture and human resource management. The analysis was carried out with a structural equation model (SEM). The results showed that quality culture had a positive and significant effect on human resource management practices, but had no direct effect on knowledge management maturity. Human resource management practices have a positive and significant effect on knowledge management maturity. The results of this study prove the importance of the quality culture of higher education in developing mature knowledge management, through human resource management practices.
