Abstract

This research seeks to reveal the errors displayed by German language teachers and learners. Therefore, the researcher will investigate what types of errors appear in the German language learning process of teachers and learners and what error levels appear in the German language learning process of teachers and learners. The researcher uses error level analysis (James, 2013) divided into 3 main parts, namely substance errors, textual errors, and discourse errors. The results prove that substance errors and textual errors are found in the teacher. The substance errors are coding errors when speaking (mispronunciations) and decoding errors in reading (miscues). While the textual errors are errors in composing spoken text (misspeaking) and errors in composing written text (miswriting). Then, substance errors, textual errors, and discourse errors appear in the learners. In substance errors, there are coding errors in speaking (mispronunciations), coding errors in writing (misspellings), decoding errors in listening (misperceptions) and decoding errors in reading (miscues). In textual errors, errors in understanding spoken text (mishearing), and errors in understanding written text (misreading) were found. In discourse errors, errors in formulating oral discourse (misrepresenting) were found. Of the many errors, both teachers and learners excel in mispronunciations and misspeaking. Abstract

This study aims to describe the refusal speech acts of Japanese and Indian people in the context of vertical relationship lines. The research employs a cross-cultural pragmatic approach with a qualitative descriptive paradigm method. Data collection was carried out using the Discourse Completion Task (DCT) method on native Japanese and Indian speakers. Data were analyzed using Brown and Levinson's politeness theory and Ochi Suzuki's refusal strategies, presented through a descriptive analysis model. The results indicate differences in the refusal speech acts of Japanese and Indian people within vertical relationship lines. Japanese people, in this context, tend to use indirect refusals, employing various methods to show respect and avoid offending the interlocutor. This is influenced by factors such as social status, social distance, kinship relations, and the speaker's age. Indirect refusals often involve expressions of apology and the use of different language forms. There are slight differences between male and female refusal speech acts in Japanese culture. Women are more careful in choosing words to refuse, showing a higher regard for the feelings of the speaker. In contrast, Japanese men tend to provide straightforward reasons for their refusals but still choose their words cautiously. In the case of Indian people within vertical relationship lines, the majority use direct refusals, as evidenced by their speech. Social factors such as social status and social distance also play a role. Both Indian men and women tend to deliver refusals straightforwardly, assertively, and directly (to the point).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the intensity of use of Octo Mobile mobile banking by CIMB Niaga. This study identifies 8 variables, namely perceived useful-ness, perceived ease of use, interaction needs, perceived risk, perceived cost, trust, credi-bility and compatibility with lifestyle. Through hypothesis testing, this study confirmed the significant effect of these variables on the intensity of use of Octo Mobile. The results show that the most influential factor is compatibility with lifestyle and user needs. This indicates that users highly value the compatibility of mobile banking features with their daily banking activities and overall lifestyle. The next influential factor is the credibility of CIMB Niaga as a mobile banking service provider. Users perceive CIMB Niaga as a trustworthy institution, which ensures the security of personal information and transactions, thus increasing their confidence in using the service. The last influencing factor is perceived usefulness. Users feel that Octo Mobile by CIMB Niaga improves their job performance, makes banking tasks easier, and is overall useful. These findings suggest that to increase the intensity of Octo Mobile usage, CIMB Niaga needs to focus on improving the compatibility of the service with modern lifestyles, maintaining and enhancing credibility through strong security measures and transparent privacy policies, and continuing to innovate to add features that are useful and make users' banking activities easier. This strategic approach is expected to not only increase the intensity of usage but also directly proportional to the increase in bank revenue.
