However in fact, they still struggle to balance it. This novel shows the persona used by the characters to cover their real self to the world. The purpose of this study is to dissect the literary psychology of the characters in the novel The Balance Project by using the persona theory which is one of the four concepts of the structure of the collective unconscious in the human soul which includes persona, anima-animus, shadow, and self. The method used is descriptive qualitative using a literary psychology approach with the persona theory proposed by Carl Jung as a reference. The data collection techniques used are library research techniques and note-taking studies. The results of this study refer to the analysis of persona theory in the novel which includes two sources of persona, persona development, persona transformation, and persona integration process. In order to hide their real self, the characters use persona to show the world that they are good with balancing work and life. The persona then develop and transform to meet it but eventually they will find the integration of persona and shadow when they have been able to accept themselves over their persona.

As part of English for specific purposes, English books for vocational high schools in Indonesia have been widely studied. Many previous researchers have studied need analysis in English books for Vocational High Schools, while studies related to a multimodal approach are still lacking. Therefore, a study of visual and verbal components in the textbook is conducted in this research. The data is taken from multimodal teaching materials in the English book "Forward: for Vocational High School Grade X" and the textbook user. The data are selected from the images along with the text. Miles and Huberman’s perspective on the qualitative method is used in the study. Besides, A combination of Grammar visual design by Kress and Van Leeuwen and Systemic Functional linguistics by Halliday, as the multimodal framework, identifies elements of multimodal existing in the textbook and investigates whether the textbook images assist students’ understanding of the text. As the result of the study, three patterns of visual elements and ideational functions of verbal elements are revealed in this study. Also, pedagogical benefits are given to the presented visual elements to understand the text. Nevertheless, the analysis of visual images in the textbook and the responses of teacher and student show that the colour and size of visual elements should be improved.

The purpose of this study is to determine the knowledge level of cognition in English word pronunciation held by homeroom teachers working in one of Central Java bilingual schools. It is required that teachers provide their students with an authentic model of proper pronunciation while working with Cambridge International Primary Program (CIPP) related subjects. It is crucial to have this information in order to pick future tactics to improve their pronunciation abilities through the provided training. It is easier for the teachers to avoid misleading their pupils with the material that they present while they are teaching. In order to collect the necessary data and carry out the recorded pronunciation test, a questionnaire with closed-ended questions was administered first. After that, a matrix was utilized to monitor the subject's metacognition consciousness in relation to the pronunciation test being conducted. According to the findings, their level of metacognitive awareness ranges from low to moderate levels.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Crisostomo’s short story entitled “The Steel Brassiere” to find out how the personal consciousness of the female protagonist emerges, the trigger of the emergence, and the psychological oppressions that she experiences as a domestic wife of a patriarchal husband. The concepts used to support the analysis are three modes of being of existentialism, existential psychology, patriarchy, husband, the personal is political, bras as cultural myth and in the perspective of feminism, and types of verbal abuse. The analysis applies the feminist literary criticism, considering that the focus of analysis is a woman, and the contextual method of literary research which combines intrinsic and extrinsic elements. The analysis is done in a qualitative way supported by library research with its close reading strategy. The result shows that once the obedient wife who keeps her psychological distress by herself is triggered by the steel bra which gives the hint of the image of a strong independent female, her personal consciousness emerges inextinguishable. She is ready to change into a woman who is prepared to refuse the husband’s abrupt order that she is not willing to do and is calmly waiting for the consequences.
