Focus and Scope Animal Breeding and Genetics It covers a wide range of applied animal breeding, genetic evaluation technology, quantitative and molecular genetics, evolution as well as genomics and bioinformatics of farm animals. Animal Reproduction and Physiology Different aspects of reproduction and physiology of farm animals are covered in this scope including and not limited to physiology of fertilization, early development, growth and lactation. Feed and Nutrition It covers microbiology and function of rumen, ruminants/non-ruminants nutrition, physiology and metabolism related to feeding, forage nutrion and provision, feed and feed additive evaluation, technology of feed processing, poultry and other non-ruminants farm animals nutrition and its physiology. Animal Products It covers technology of post harvest of farm animal products, food safety, food security, functional foods, biology of muscle, product composition, and science of milk, meat and egg. Animal Biotechnology Some aspects of animal biotechnology of farm animals are covered including and not limited to molecular nutrition, transgenetics as well as genes identification and manipulation. Animal Health It includes studies about animal modeling on animal health, infection and immunity, physiology of stress, vaccine and therapeutics of farm animals. Animal Behaviour and Welfare Social and sexual behaviour, adaptation, and welfare of farm animals are included in this topic. Environment, Management, and Socio-Economics It covers topics on management of waste and by-products, livestock and environment, farming system, and socio-agribusiness of animal production.

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out the results of the chicken cross Pelung Chicken with Lurik Chicken vs Komering and Lurik Chicken vs  Komering Chicken. The experiment method was used in this study to reveal the data. Research variables were qualitative and quantitative characteristics. Quantitative characteristics included: the weight of eggs, hatching weight, fertility,  body weight gain, and egg production. Qualitative characteristics included: hair color, comb shape, the color of the feet, skin and meal color. Data needed in this research obtained through measurements and observations of Pelung chicken,  Lurik Chicken, Komering Chicken, the Crossbreed Chicken between Pelung Chicken vs Komering and Lurik Chicken. The data obtained were analyzed by way of summation, the percentage by X ± sd) (Steel and Torrie, 1993). Comparison of egg weight, fertility, hatching weight and body weightgain egg production, Crossbreed Chicken of Pelung Chicken vs Lurik Chicken and Lurik Chicken vs Komering was tested by t-test (Siegel, 1994). The result showed that : 1) The weight of the weight of hatching eggs and Pelung Chicken better than Lurik Chicken ad Komering Chicken in the weight andthe weight of hatching eggs. 2) In terms of weight, hatching weight and body weight gain, Crossbreed of Pelung Chicken vs Lurik Chiceken was  better than a cross Pelung vs  Komering and Lurik Chicken. 3) Lurik Chicken can be used as elder parents for the crossing program with other free-range chickenspecies for rising egg production.

Abstract

Kuamang Kuning is  one of animal supplied area in Jambi Province. It has not  been yet  exploited such as optimal potential land for farm. Eventhough conversion  of land and  quality were decreased to experience. To increase potency of farm hence integration crop and livestock (crop-livestock system) require to be developed in order to undergo the sustainable agriculture development. Efficiency  on farm can be use internal input because meaning to lessen use of external input which must be bought. Sustainable indexs of  pattern of CLS 57.12 indicating that activity of CLS sustainable enough. Strategy which can be used to farm development is moderate-optimistic. As for key factors for implementation of the strategy  were: (1) farmer group, ( 2) cage fertilize exploiting  and ( 3)governmental subsidy.

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate an improvement of corn peel with  ammoniation  in sacco  digestibility in  cow  ration.  Measured parameters in the current experiment were, in sacco degradation of   dry matter, organic matter and crude protein. This study was assigned into completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were ; R0 = 70% Forage (100% grass + 0% Corn Peel) + 30 % Concentrate,  R1 = 70% Forage (75 % grass + 25% Corn Peel) + 30 % Concentrate, R2 = 70% Forage (50% grass + 50% Corn Peel) + 30 % Concentrate, R3 = 70%Forage (25% grass + 75% Corn Peel) + 30 % Concentrate, R4 = 70% Forage (0% grass + 100% Corn Peel) + 30 % Concentrate. Result of this study showed that the treatments were significantly (P<0,05) influence degradation of dry matter, organic matter and crude protein. The degradation after ammoniation significantly increased and were higher  than that  of  without  ammoniation.  It is concluded that ammoniation with urea of corn peel could  increase degradation and could be used asforage substitution in ration.

Abstract

The research on substitution of corn and soybean cake with fermented soybean husk by Aspergillus niger was done on 100 DOCs strains MB 202. Completely Randomizing Design (CRD) was used in five treatments: 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40% of fermented soybean husk by four replications. Observed variables were the retentions of dry matter, organic matter and crude fiber. Data were analyzed with analysis of variance continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that substitution of corn and soybeans cake with fermented soybean husk had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the retention of the dry matter but significantly (P<0.05) affected retentions of organic matter and crude fiber. In conclusion, the fermented soybeans husk can be used as a substitute for corn and soybean cake up to 40% of broiler feed.

Abstract

This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of substitution of corn with avocado seed in the hot water on retention of dry matter, organic matter and crude protein of broiler chicken. This experiment was carried out in Poultry Nutrition Laboratory and the Department of Non Ruminant Nutrition of the University of Jambi. This study used 100 2-days broiler chickens strains Platinum given the basal ration with the addition of avocado seed flour. Completely Randomizing Design was used in the research with five treatments and four replications. The treatment given was the level of flour replacement of corn withavocado seed in the feed of BA-0 (no avocado seed), BA-5 (5% of avocado seed flour without soaking), BAR-% ( 5% avocado seed flour soaked in hot water), BA-10 (10% avocado seed flour without soaking) and BAR-10 (10% avocado seed flour soaked in hot water). Observed variables were retentions of DryMatter (DM), Organic Matter (OM) and crude protein (CP). The results showed that replacement of corn with avocado seed flour had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on retention of Dry Matter, Organic Matter and Crude Protein. In conclusion, the replacement of maize with wheat seeds, soaked avocadoseed and without soaking in hot water can be done without affecting the retention of Dry Matter, Organic Matter and Crude Protein.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to study the influence of grass to oil palm frond substitution on the digestibility and fermentability  in vitro gas tehniques.  The research  used arranged in a randomized complete design with 5 treatments and 4 replication.  The treatments that was substitution of the grass to oil palm frond at level : 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% in  ration. The result of the sudy showed that substitution of the grass to oil palm frond  was significantly different (P < 0.05) on the digestibility of dry matter but not significantly different (P > 0.05) on the digestibility of organic matter, acid degreeand gas production.  It could be concluded that the used of grass to oil palm frond substitution at the level   25% had better the digestibility  and fermentability compared to other treatments.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to nknow the level of breeder innovation adoption in broiler chicken livestock and factors influencing innovation adoption in broiler chicken livestock in district Bajubang of Batang Hari regency. The research method was survey. Sample location was choosen by purposive sampling based on breeder broiler chicken. The respondent were choosen by sensus. Thurstone scale method was used to know the breeder innovation adaption level in broiler chicken livestock.Multiple linier regression analysis was used to know the factors influence innavation adoption level. The result shown that innovation adoption level in district Bajubang of Batang Hari regency is high level (89,62%). Multiple linier regression analysis shown that factor influencing innovation adoption levelwas breeder age. Factors not real influence was education level, family size, cattle farm exprience, the number of cattle and income  The conclusion was innovation adoption level in broiler chicken livestock in district Bajubang of Batang Hari regency influenced by breeder age.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of using fermented coconut cake with tape yeast on dry metter intake, slaughtered weidht, carcass weight and carcass percentage. A hundred two days old male chicken was used in thiss study. This study was assigned into completely randamized design with 5 treatment and 4 replications.  The tretment was using 100% commercial feed, using 10% and 20% of coconut cake in commercial feed and using 10% and 20% of fermented coconut cake with tape yeast in commercial feed. Parameters measured dry matter intake, slaughtered weight, carcassweight and carcass persentage. It concluded that coconut cake and permented coconut cake with tape yeast can be mixed into the ration up to 20% to subtitute commercial feed.

Abstract

The  objective  of  the  experiment  was  to  find  out  the  best  inoculum  dosage  and incubation  time  for  fiber  component  percentage  and  true  protein  percentage.  The experiment was arranged by a Completely Randomized Design with factorial pattern 4x4, which  the  first  factor  was  inoculum  dosage  (D2,5=2,5%;  D5=5%;  D7,5=7,5%;  and D10=10%) and the second factor was incubation time (W1=1 week, W2= 2 week, W3 = 3 week,  and  W4=  4  week),  the  treatment  combination  were  replicated  3  times  which component  fiber  percentage  and  true  protein  percentage  as  parameters.    All  data  were analyzed by analysis of variance followed DMRT.  The results of experiment showed that there was significant interaction between inoculum dosage and incubation time on fiber component and true protein percentage.  The lowest of fiber component especialy lignin and highest true protein percentage were found  at D3W3 combination treatment, which the fiber componen percentage was NDF (67.63%), ADF (60.50%), selulosa (45.27%), lignin (9.93%), and True protein (8.957%).

Abstract

A study of factors affecting gestation period was made by statistically analyzing the data relating to 38 calvings of Hissar cattle in BPT & HMT Serading Sumbawa. The average length of gestation period was found to be 289.87 ± 6.42 for all calves, 289.38 ± 6.48 days for males dan 290.71 ± 6.24 for females. Females calves were carried 1.33 days longer than males, the difference, however, tended not to be significant. Calvings were distributed throughout the year, the percentage of calvings was lower (28.95%) during wet season than that of dry season (71.05%). The percentage of calvings both in males and  females  were  found  to  be  higher  during  dry  than  wet  seasons.  It  is  concluded, therefore, that sex does not appear to influence gestation period, while season of calving was found to be responsible in causing variation in the length of gestation period.
