Balale merupakan istilah dari bahasa Dayak Kanayatn dan Melayu Sambas serta Melayu Mempawah, yang memiliki arti kegiatan gotong royong dalam suatu pekerjaan secara bergilir, khususnya pada aktifitas perladangan sejak menentukan lokasi berladang hingga panen. Balale adalah tata nilai kehidupan sosial yang mewujud dalam kebersamaan, komunikasi, egaliter, bentuk ekspresi dan aktualisasi diri maupun komunal (integrasi sosial). Jurnal Balale memiliki harapan yang senada dengan falsafah tradisi Balale, menjadi sarana komunikasi, bertinteraksi, dan bersama-sama dalam mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan. Focus dan scope jurnal Balale pada kajian sosial dan budaya dalam perfektif Antropologi. Balale menerbitkan hasil penelitian berupa artikel etnografi, kajian terapan bidang antropologi, analisis teori dan metodologi bidang antropologi maupun ilmu sosial, dan resensi pada buku-buku antropologi. Balale Jurnal Antropologi adalah Jurnal yang diulas oleh pakar pada bidangnya. Balale: Jurnal Antropologi diterbitkan oleh program Studi Antropologi, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Tanjungpura, terbit 2 kali dalam setahun yakni pada Mei dan November.

Abstract

This article focuses on the role of the Indonesian State in fighting human rights violations during the 1999 East Timor Upheaval. The 1999 East Timor Upheaval was one of the most serious human rights violations that occurred in Indonesia. The Indonesian state has an important role in eradicating human rights violations that occurred in East Timor in 1999, namely by carrying out investigations and trials against perpetrators of human rights violations, providing compensation to victims of human rights violations, and reforming military security law. The method used in this paper is qualitative research through a literature review. Primary sources from books and articles. The Indonesian state needs to increase its role in eradicating human rights violations during the 1999 East Timor Upheaval by holding trials for perpetrators of serious human rights violations, providing adequate compensation to victims of human rights violations, carrying out reforms in the security and military sector, and implementing reforms in the security and military sector. consistently and sustainably, as well as providing education to the community. about the importance of human rights and preventing human rights violations. By taking these steps, the Indonesian state can demonstrate its commitment to fighting human rights violations and protecting the human rights of all its citizens.

Abstract

This research is about the traditional kerokan treatment method for ethnic Malays in Kubu Raya Regency. This research aims to find out and analyze people's reasons for choosing the kerokan treatment method nowadays because people still believe in the legacy of their ancestors which has many benefits, looking at the origin of the treatment method focused on the Malay ethnic group, originating from the spread of Javanese ethnicity to Pontianak, knowing the tools and The materials used to carry out the kerokan method for ethnic Malays are very simple, cheap and easy to find, such as using coins, spoons and oil as a lubricant to avoid irritation. The research used a qualitative study which was carried out by asking informants directly and observing them involved. This study uses ethnomedicine as a study paradigm. The results of this research are that traditional medicine, which is still widely used today, has many benefits for the body and tools and materials that are easy to find with just coins and oil so that anyone can use the kerokan treatment method. Catching a cold is understood as a state of illness or an unhealthy body, while kerokan is an attempt to recover.

Abstract

This study aimed to delve into or depict deeply the phenomenon of the Babore tradition, which is one of the cultures and traditions among the Dayak Ahe community in Sekabuk Village. This study also aimed to describe the process of conducting Basanggar and how it was conducted among the Dayak Ahe community in Sekabuk Village of Sadaniang District in Mempawah Regency. The research site of this study was Sandaniang District, specifically Sekabuk Village. This study used Robert R. Redfield’s theory with the concept big and small traditions. This study employed a qualitative research method with an ethnography approach, which was categorized as a qualitative research design. The results of this study revealed the process of conducting the Babore tradition in traditional treatment.

Abstract

This article focuses on the phenomenon of traditional medicine in Madurese society, especially local diseases. The disease, which local people call Jumplang Tanah disease, prefers and trusts traditional medicine carried out by shamans. This article has explained the causes and treatment system for Jumplang Tanah disease and analyzed the beliefs of the Madurese people of Sungai Segak village regarding the treatment of Jumplang Tanah disease. This research uses the Health Belief Model theory with six contracts contained in it, namely perceived Susceptibility, Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefits, Perceived Barriers, Cues to Action, and Health Motivation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques obtained through the process of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this paper provide an understanding of the knowledge and belief systems of the Sungai Segak village community. This cannot be separated from the knowledge passed down from previous Madurese elders, and its existence is still trusted and maintained by the community to this day.

Abstract

This research has examined consumer behavior and the use of Shopee PayLater in online shopping for students in Sepakat 2 Southeast Pontianak. Shopee Paylater is known as a service for users to shop online on the Shopee platform without having to pay directly. The type of research that has been used is a descriptive qualitative research method. This research has focused on consumer behavior, factors, and the impact of using PayLater services in online shopping by students in Sepakat 2 Southeast Pontianak analyzed using Jean Baudrillard's consumption society theory. The results of the research have shown that there are two factors in the consumptive behavior of students using Shopee Paylater, namely: internal factors caused by emotional feelings, habits, social status, lack of financial awareness, impulsivity, and lifestyle while in terms of external factors caused by promotions and discounts, convenience access, attractive advertising, flexible payment features, reviews and testimonials, personalization technology, loyalty and rewards programs and exclusive offers. Thus, consumer behavior using Shopee Paylater can become a problem if users do not pay attention to their spending limits and financial capabilities. It is important to use Shopee Paylater wisely by considering financial needs and capabilities.

Abstract

Hijab styles and models come in various variations. The hijab, not only as a cover for the private parts but has also emerged as a form of self-expression. Muslim women who wear trendy hijabs are called hijabers. Following the hijab fashion trend that is currently happening through social media, influencers, and the surrounding environment, causes an increase in the cost of living for hijabers among students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tanjungpura University, which is due to the increase in purchasing power to follow the hijab trend. This research aims to describe and analyze the hijabers lifestyle among students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tanjungpura University using ethnographic qualitative research. The use of consumer behavior lifestyle theory according to Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong is used to analyze the results of research on consumer behavior lifestyle based on motivation and resource factors. This study found that there are various styles and styles of hijab that are influenced by social media and trends, increasing the cost of living.

Abstract

The Dayak Philosophy "Adil Ka' Talino, Bacuramitn Ka' Saruga, Basengat Ka' Jubata" and Senggayung music have a close relevance in the context of culture, identity, spirituality, and creative expression of the Pesaguan Dayak tribe. The purpose of this study is to determine the meaning of Pesaguan Dayak Senggayung Music in the Light of the Philosophy of "Adil Ka' Talino, Bacuramitn Ka' Saruga, Basengat Ka' Jubata" and its relevance to the lives of Dayak indigenous people in general. The methodology used in this paper uses qualitative research that is done through a phenomenological point of view. The findings in this study that the meaning of Pesaguan Dayak Senggayung Music according to the light of the "Adil Ka' Talino, Bacuramitn Ka' Saruga, Basengat Ka' Jubata" philosophy is so profound and relevant in the lives of Dayak people in general. This research is very contextual to the current situation, especially for the younger generation to love culture and philosophical thoughts from their own culture so that the same desire arises to maintain and preserve Dayak cultural customs with full awareness.

Abstract

The Panyai house in the Mualang Dayak tribe is a traditional house of the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan, especially in West Kalimantan. The Panyai House is not only a physical building where the Mualang Dayak people live but is also the building at the heart of the social structure of life. The methodology used in this study is a comparative study and is supported by a literature method in the form of literature that focuses on the theme of this research. In this study, it was found that in the Rumah Panyai tradition of the Dayak Mualang tribe, the ethical values of living together are a strong foundation for establishing harmony and community sustainability. There are several noble values contained in it, namely the values of cooperation, togetherness, respect, and solidarity which are an inseparable part of life in the panyai house. The local wisdom values in the panyai house tradition can guide the development of a more sustainable and responsible life towards nature.

Abstract

Bridal showers called Batangas are essential steps in an ethnic Malay wedding in Sanggau Regency. Batangas is a steam bath procession that aims to cleanse oneself so they are ready to carry out the wedding procession. This research focuses on the Batangas procession of prospective brides and grooms in the Malay community. This research uses qualitative ethnographic methods conducted in Semuntai Village. Foster and Anderson's theory is used as an analytical tool. This research found that betangan is a pre-wedding tradition carried out with a steam bath. This tradition has health values, such as a body that feels healthier and more confident on the wedding day.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam budaya kumpul kope masyarakat Manggarai. Kumpul kope bertujuan untuk mengumpulkan dana dalam rangka persiapan perkawinan anak laki-laki (tae laki). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan merujuk pada studi pustaka. Adapun nilai-nilai dalam budaya kumpul kope yang menjadi temuan penelitian ini  ialah: Pertama, solidaritas. Solidaritas dalam kumpul kope berarti timbulnya (perasaan) solider, sifat satu rasa (senasib dan sebagainya) dan perasaan setia kawan dengan keluarga pihak laki-laki. Kedua, kehadiran sebagai kesediaan. Kehadiran dalam kumpul kope menunjukkan kesediaan untuk meringankan beban biaya mahar dari keluarga laki-laki. Ketiga, Persatuan. Persatuan tampak dalam keterlibatan keluarga kerabat patrilineal (wa’u/asekae), tetangga (pa’ang agu ngaung) dan kenalan dekat (hae reba). Keempat, persahabatan atau kekeluargaan yang tampak dalam kebersamaan yang terjalin selama proses kumpul kope berlangsung. Kelima, cinta terhadap yang lain yang terartikulasi dalam relasi yang mengatasi hubungan darah. Cinta seperti ini mengindikasikan bahwa setiap pribadi mampu meninggalkan sikap egoisme dan membuka diri bagi orang lain.
