Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore community participation in the development of Kampung Batik Semarang as a rural tourism destination. This research uses an exploratory qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews with 11 informants, observation, and documentation from March to July 2025. The Kampung Batik Semarang Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) is the main actor in mobilizing participation, facilitating communication, and sustaining tourism development. This study concludes that effective village tourism development requires a balance between external support and local autonomy, as well as strengthening democratic processes through bottom-up and horizontal communication models that will ensure a fair distribution of benefits. Pokdarwis in Kampung Batik Semarang shows that empowering the community as active agents in tourism makes a positive contribution, especially for economic and social well-being.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of MSME competitiveness enhancement policies implemented by the DKUKMPP of Cirebon City in the context of accelerating digital transformation. Using Thomas R. Dye’s public policy theory as the analytical framework, the research employs a descriptive qualitative case study method with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation of officials and MSME actors involved in the digitalization program. Findings show that policies such as digital marketing training, e-commerce assistance, and licensing digitization have generated positive administrative outputs, yet substantive outcomes—including improved digital behavior, technological literacy, and market expansion—remain uneven. Key challenges include unequal access to resources, low digital literacy, limited bureaucratic competence, and communication strategies that lack inclusivity. The study concludes that policy effectiveness depends on multi-actor collaboration, equitable resource distribution, strengthened implementer capacity, and adaptive implementation models aligned with local social contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the participation of first-time voters in the 2024 Elections in Cirebon City, where participation is considered suboptimal due to limited political understanding, apathy, and low trust in government institutions. Using a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through documentation, interviews, and direct observation, the research applies sociological, psychological, and rational choice theories by Dennis Kavanagh as its analytical framework. Findings show that first-time voter participation remains low, reflected in the still high number of invalid ballots, which indicates inadequate use of voting rights. The main factors influencing this condition include unequal socialization by the KPU, distrust toward political institutions, social media influence, and minimal political literacy. These results highlight the need for more targeted political education and effective outreach to improve youth participation in future elections.

Abstract

Measuring the research competency needs of university student-researchers ensures a holistic and responsive approach to addressing their research dilemmas, thereby ensuring the maximum utility of any research projects for learning progress and development. With this intention, the present study proposes a 32-item survey tool to assess research competency needs of student-researchers across eight domains. Using the instrument development research as the design, three experts validated the survey tool, while 30 university students participated in a dry run to establish the instrument’s reliability. The survey tool is subjected to validity testing using Kappa Statistics and reliability testing using Cronbach’s Alpha. Results indicate that the developed survey tool is highly valid (I-CVI=1.00) and highly reliable (α=0.963), making it suitable to assess the research competency needs.

Abstract

Hazardous waste management standards in the United States, the United States Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and OSHA HAZWOPER standards, are the international standard of hazardous waste management. This paper will discuss the occupational health outcomes in the four common waste streams and how the Hierarchy of Controls the exposure in the U.S. setting. The synthesis of global evidence that the study created shows that there are critical transboundary risks of e-waste exports and that there are occupational exposures in low-resource countries. Some of the field-tested low-cost adoptions are introduced in the paper: rudimentary exhaust systems, mobile manifesting, and reusable protective equipment protocols. The innovations can help the U.S professionals involved in the management of resource-bounded operations to stay in line with compliance and tackle the local and global dangers of the supply chain. Findings indicate that joint regulatory implementation and innovation-based remedies help in mitigating waste-related job sickness expenses that amount to 10-15 billion dollars per year.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of e-modules for writing argumentative essays based on local contexts that are integrated with Project-Based Learning (PjBL). The method used was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample included class XI.6 as the experimental class and class XI.7 as the control class. The experimental group learned using e-modules at each stage of PjBL, while the control group obtained conventional learning. The results showed that the learning outcomes of the experimental group were significantly higher. Thus, so that e-module-based learning with local context and PjBL is declared effective for argumentative essay writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of students and teachers for the development of FlipHTML5-based academic writing e-modules with the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) approach as the initial stage in the Dick and Carey R&D model. The study involved 109 students of class X who were determined through purposive sampling. Data were collected through needs analysis questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and class observations, then analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results show a striking gap between the availability of conventional materials and the learning preferences of Generation Z students, where 98% of students need multimodal teaching materials that are easily accessible through digital applications to reduce the cognitive burden in understanding writing materials. The integration of the SCL approach is also proven to be urgent to support learning independence. These findings confirm the need for the immediate development of interactive e-modules as a strategic pedagogical solution to improve academic writing competence.

Abstract

Electricity availability is essential for improving quality of life in rural areas, particularly in remote regions of eastern Indonesia that lack access to the national power grid due to limited energy supply, transportation constraints, and weather conditions. To address this challenge, this study develops and tests a pico-hydro power system using a vertical-shaft propeller turbine capable of operating under low water flow conditions. The research was conducted in Tetey Village, North Minahasa Regency, utilizing irrigation canal water from rice fields. Direct experimental testing was applied to evaluate turbine performance under varying parameters, including blade type (plate and standard), blade angles of 30° and 40°, a water fall height of 50 cm, and a flow velocity of 0.68 m/s. The results show that the maximum turbine power of 200 W was achieved at 1800 rpm with a torque of 1.5 Nm using a standard four-blade turbine with a 30° blade angle and a water discharge of 0.065 m³/s. Overall, flow rate, fall height, blade type, and blade angle significantly affect turbine performance, demonstrating the potential of pico-hydro systems as an environmentally friendly electricity solution for rural areas with limited water flow.

Abstract

This analysis aims to identify delay factors and reduce the risk of delay in construction projects using the CPM method in the construction project of the East Ring Road Kuningan. The results of the study show that common factors that can have an impact on delays include the provision of materials, workforce readiness, and schedule adjustment to weather conditions. Therefore, supervision and control on critical routes must be carried out intensively to ensure that the project can be completed on time according to plan because delays in one activity alone will have a direct impact on the overall project completion.

Abstract

Kelulut bees (Trigona sp.) are a type of honey-producing bee native to Kalimantan, Indonesia, known for their stingless nature. These bees have high economic value, particularly in the peat ecosystem areas. This study aims to analyze the strategy for developing the Kelulut Bee cultivation business in Tuwung Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. Using a quantitative approach and purposive sampling, the study found that one major challenge for breeders is the lack of a definite market and reliance on manual, word-of-mouth marketing. The SWOT analysis revealed that the business is in a weak position (quadrant IV), requiring a survival strategy to avoid failure and improve profitability.
