Abstract

The rapid proliferation of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram has significantly impacted teenage behavior, particularly in terms of virtual identity creation. This study delves into how teenagers at SMAN 1 Depok utilize Instagram to craft their virtual personas, drawing on Michael Hecht’s Communication Theory of Identity. Employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, including observation, documentation, and interviews, this research zeroes in on female students at SMAN 1 Depok. Utilizing Von Eckartsberg’s phenomenological analysis, which encompasses data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, the study identifies four distinct layers at which virtual identity is constructed: 1) The personal layer, evident in usernames and profiles across primary and secondary accounts; 2) The enactment layer, reflected in interactions like likes and comments from followers; 3) The relational layer, where usage of both accounts reveals different facets of identity—with the primary account showcasing a positive self-concept and limited identity disclosure, and the secondary account allowing for more open expression with selective friendships; 4) The communal layer, where identities are shaped within influencer or celebgram fan communities, with informants often swayed by prevalent lifestyles to gain acceptance. This research underscores the nuanced ways in which teenagers navigate their identities in the digital realm.

Abstract

This study was initiated with the objective to evaluate the efficacy of tobacco leaf extract and potentiality of intercropping on TSSM in Eastern Ethiopia. The tomato, tomato + cabbage, tomato + common bean, tomato + onion, tomato + tobacco leaf extract and tomato + karate 5% EC were the treatments used for the trial. The overall result indicated that intercropping and tobacco leaf extract significantly reduced the population of these mite pests compared to sole tomato. The minimum population with infestation was recorded on karate (14.65, 0.79) followed by tomato – tobacco leaf extract (16.50, 0.92) and tomato onion (36.53, 1.74) from intercropping while control was the most in recording maximum population with maximum infestation (94.10, 2.88 respectively). The most population reduction with infestation was observed on tobacco leaf extract compared to untreated plot followed by tomato-onion intercropping. The highest yield (50.73tha-1) was recorded on the tomato-onion intercrops followed by karate 5%EC (43.96tha-1) and tobacco extract (43.65tha-1) while the lowest yield was recorded on head cabbage intercrops (30.10tha-1). The maximum net benefit was obtained from tomato-onion intercrops (688653.45 ETB) whereas the lowest net benefit was recorded on common bean (354176.60 ETB) intercrops. Therefore, tomato onion intercrops and tobacco leaf extract could be considered as the first options in boosting tomato production as an alternative to karate 5%EC and expected as common integrated management of TSSM on tomato.

Abstract

This research aims to address cyber threats and crimes in Indonesia. Currently, the responsibility for the implementation of cyber security tasks and functions is handled by the State Cyber and Cryptography Agency (BSSN). This situation makes it very difficult for BSSN to operate if its duties, functions, and authorities in cybercrime law enforcement are only regulated through a Presidential Regulation. This study uses a normative juridical method with a legislative approach that examines norms related to the authority of investigative institutions in law enforcement against cyber crimes. These findings highlight that there were 24.6 million cyberattacks recorded from January 1 to September 7, 2022, which caused losses to the community. The existence of BSSN was formed by the President through Presidential Regulation Number 28 of 2021 concerning the State Cyber and Cryptography Agency in carrying out its duties and authority to overcome cybercrime in the face of obstacles. This requires a comprehensive legal due diligence strategy that can be adjusted to legal compliance and potential legal problems of cybercrime. The results of the study show that to ensure security, justice, and legal certainty in the enforcement of cybercrime law can be carried out properly, it is necessary to have special laws and regulations that regulate cybercrime, with the existence of institutions that will implement laws and regulations in special law enforcement to deal with cybercrime, by containing legal compliance based on the applicable national legal system.
