Abstract

This paper seeks to appraise Charles Taylor's theory of recognition which revolves around equal dignity, the ideal of authenticity and the fusion of horizons. This paper found out that Taylor's theory holds that our individual identity is shaped by recognition or its absence. Hence, a person or group of people can suffer real imagery damage or the distortion of the same if the people or society hold a distorted and demeaning image of them to the extent that misrecognition on the one hand or non-recognition, on the other hand, can both inflict psychological harm and distort their mode of being. In this paper, I argue that Taylor's theory of recognition, as plausible as it seems, is flawed. The conclusion that is reached therefore is that Taylor's three modes of recognition is inadequate in the formation of a multicultural society that will guarantee tolerance and peaceful authentic existence in the society.

Abstract

Abstract.This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the explicit instruction model in learning the skills of writing exposition texts for the tenth graders of MAN 1 Sinjai Utara. This type of research is classified as experimental research. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach. The design used in this study is a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study was the entire class X MAN 1 Sinjai Utara, totaling 207 students and the sample used was 25 students. The amount was determined by using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study used writing tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive test, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that; (1) learning without using explicit instruction model in the students' exposition text writing skills is in the less skilled category with an average value of 58.6. (2) Learning by applying the explicit instruction model in students' exposition text writing skills is in the skilled category with an average value of 77.9. (3) The explicit instruction model is effectively applied in learning the writing skills of the tenth grade students of MAN 1 Sinjai Utara Keyword : Explicit Instruction, Eksposition Text

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the effect of employee competence on service quality at the Donri-Donri sub-district office, Soppeng Regency. By using a quantitative design approach. This type of research is descriptive quantitative using observation techniques, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation in data collection. The study population consisted of 34 people with a population sample using descriptive statistical data analysis techniques and inferential statistics. The results showed that there was a significant and positive influence on the quality of public services in Donri-Donri District, Soppeng Regency. The findings of this study provide an overview of basically knowledge skills and skill abilities that are needed by every sub-district employee so that each task can be carried out quickly and more easily. Various efforts have been made by the government of the Donri-Donri sub-district to maintain the competence of its apparatus through educational and training activities whose aim is to keep employees up to date with information that develops with the alignment of tasks and functions as well as demands for service needs by the community.Keywords: Competence, Quality, Service

Abstract

Abstract: The Function of the Cenning Rara Mantra in Increasing the Life Motivation of the Bugsi Soppeng People. Thesis, Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Language and Literature, State University of Makassar (supervised by Andi Agussalim Aj and andi Fatimah Yunus) This study aims to describe the function of the cenning rara mantra in increasing the motivation of the Soppeng Bugis people's lives. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive design. The data in this study are the cenning rara mantra, oral data, sentences containing the function of the mantra and the relationship between the mantra and motivation in life which comes from informants, namely the Soppeng people who were interviewed. The data in this study used interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that there is a function of mantra and a relationship between mantra and motivation in life, namely (1) the function of mantra as a means of entertainment, (2) the function of mantra as a means of validating cultural institutions, (3) the function of mantra as a means of teaching and education and, (4) the function of spells as a means of coercing and supervising customs rules. The relationship between the mantra and the life motivation of the Soppeng Bugis people are (1) the value of the function of the spell related to humans, (2) the value of the function of the spell related to oneself, (3) the value of the function of the spell related to nature and, (4) the value of the function related to relate to God. Keywords: Cenning rara, spell function

Abstract

Abstract. Family conflicts with the elderly are a significant issue that requires attention. This research aims to provide a picture of the conflicts that commonly occur in families with the elderly. A search for relevant articles was conducted using the keywords: "Family conflicts with the elderly," "Causes of family conflicts with the elderly," and "Strategies for resolving family conflicts with the elderly." A total of 20 journals were obtained from Google Scholar and reviewed systematically using the Metasynthesis Qualitative Research method. The findings revealed that the causes of conflicts can be categorized into three main factors: fatigue in caring for the elderly, generational gaps between the elderly and their families, and differences in perceptions of care and needs between the elderly and their families. Additionally, two strategies were suggested for resolving family conflicts with the elderly: providing care training to families and using coping strategies by families. The results of this research are expected to serve as a basis for policy-making and intervention to improve the well-being of families with the elderly.Keywords: Family, Elderly, Conflict

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to describe the symbolic meaning and form of cultural representation of the To Balo tribe contained in the novel Human Belang which is used as a source of data being analyzed. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method by describing the data obtained based on Umberto Eco's Semiotics theory. The data source for this research is the novel Human Belang by Alfian Dippahatang published in 2020 by BasaBasi publishing house with thickness viii + 160 pages. The results of this study show two descriptions in the analysis of symbolic meaning, namely the symbol of sincerity showing surrender or willingness to the situation that is being passed due to the loss of someone in the novel. The symbol of trust shows belief in something that is believed to exist or be true. Meanwhile, the to balo culture represented in the human belang novel describes lineage, bontang forest rituals, and livelihoods. The results of this analysis reveal the meaning of lies in the form of signs in the novel such as to balo's belief in the existence of bontang forests, the community's stigma of the curse of to balo on the condition of the skin, the truth about the existence of to balo, and the belief in the existence of chosen people. Data showing the existence of symbols contained in the novel Human Belang in connection with Umberto Eco's general semiotic theory based on the theory of lie by linking denotation and connotation meanings that have been agreed upon by cultural units to obtain true interpretations and seen from political boundaries. Keywords: Umberto Eco, Cultural Representation, To Balo Tribe

Abstract

Abstract. Early adolescents often engage in dangerous behavior, which is a form of sensation-seeking behavior and can be classified as a form of personal fable because it is done intentionally and can endanger others. This study aimed to determine the relationship between personal fables and sensation-seeking in the early teens of motorcyclists in Makassar. The subjects in this study were 408 boys who were early teenagers. The sampling technique in this study is cluster sampling using quantitative methods. Measuring instruments used in this research are sensation seeking scale and personal fable scale. Analyzed using Product moment correlation analysis techniques with the help of SPSS 23.0 for Windows. The results showed a positive relationship between personal fable and sensation seeking in early adolescents (p = 0,000, r = 0.401). This study illustrates that the higher the level of personal fable, the higher the sensation seeking of early teenage motorcyclists in the city of Makassar. The results of this study are expected to reduce the level of motorcyclists in early adolescents, given that early teenagers have not been able to control their cognition. Keywords: Early Teenager, motorcyclists, personal fable, sensation-seeking

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tantangan dan hambatan yang PT Visicita Imaji Semesta alami, serta mengetahui proses manajemen krisis yang dilakukan perusahaan dalam menanggapi krisis melalui identifikasi, analisis, isolasi, pemilihan strategi, dan program pengendalian. Proses tersebut dilakukan untuk mengetahui permasalahan yang ada hingga mengembalikan keadaan menjadi normal kembali. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara mendalam dengan Account Executive, Project Manager, dan Activation Project Manager. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam mempertahankan kerjasama sponsorship dengan Blue Bird, manajemen PT Visicita Imaji Semesta menerapkan strategi adaptif sesuai dengan teori manajemen krisis. Strategi ini dilakukan melalui kompromi dan negosiasi dengan pihak Blue Bird, dengan melakukan perubahan konsep dan menawarkan benefit baru, sehingga kedua belah pihak dapat memperoleh keuntungan yang seimbang dan terjalin hubungan baik kembali. Upaya ini juga bertujuan untuk mempertahankan citra perusahaan yang baik di mata sponsor. Dalam program pengendalian, perusahaan menjadikan krisis tersebut menjadi sebuah pelajaran untuk melakukan analisis mendalam sebelum festival musik diselenggarakan, dan mempunyai antisipasi jika krisis serupa terjadi.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to describe Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong's language style in takziah lectures on YouTube media, describe Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong's voice style in takziah lectures on YouTube media and describe Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong's body gesture style in takziah lectures on YouTube media. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study are words, phrases, clauses and sentences that contain language styles, voice styles and body gesture styles found in Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong's ta'ziah lectures via YouTube media. The data collection technique used was the speaking technique, free of charge engagement, note-taking and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model which consists of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of this study are Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong's rhetorical style with language 1) Style based on word choice using conversational language style, informal language style, tone-based language style using simple language style, noble and powerful language style and medium language style, language style based on structure Sentences use language styles of parallelism, atthesis, epizeukis, tautotes, anaphora, and epiphora and language styles based on whether or not direct meaning use hyperbole and irony language styles. (2) Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong's voice style in the ta'ziah lecture, Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong in delivering his da'wah pays close attention to tone of voice such as pitch, pause, emphasis and speed in pronouncing words or rate. So that listeners who listen are not bored and can feel the emotions that are being built in the lecture as if the listeners feel and receive the message of da'wah in the lecture that is being delivered. (3) Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong's gesture style in the ta'ziah lecture besides using verbal language, Ustadz Ashar Tamanggong also uses nonverbal communication. Starting from how to dress neatly and politely using a blue batik shirt combined with white and maroon with a black cap, giving a smile when delivering his lecture. Move hands, fingers and eye contact as nonverbal communication to reinforce, emphasize verbal communication. Keywords: Rhetorical Style, lecture, Youtube

Abstract

Abstract. This research is ex post facto quantitative research with a correlational type, which aims to determine the effect of mathematics anxiety on mathematics learning achievement for elementary school students in Mattirowalie Village, Wajo Regency. The population in this research were all high-grade elementary school students in Mattirowalie Village, Wajo Regency, totaling 151 people. In comparison, the sample in this research was 110 people with the use of proportional random sampling. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of inferential analysis, a significance value is 0.002 <0.05, then H0 is rejected, which means that there is an influence of mathematics anxiety on student mathematics learning achievement for elementary school students in Mattirowalie Village, Wajo Regency. The regression equation Y = 90.641 – 0.243 X, meaning that the average score of the student's mathematics learning achievement has changed by 0.243 for each unit of change that occurs in math anxiety. Keywords: Mathematics anxiety, learning achievements, mathematics.
