Abstract

The budget efficiency policy is outlined in Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2025 has generated diverse public reactions, including from the literacy and cultural sectors. The mass media play a crucial role in shaping public perceptions of this policy through the way news is constructed and presented. This study aims to analyze how Indonesian online media frames the issue of budget efficiency affecting the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI). A qualitative approach was employed using the framing analysis model of Pan and Kosicki, which includes four dimensions: syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures. Three national online media outlets—Kompas.com, Liputan6.com, and Tempo.co—were selected as research objects to represent variations in media ideology and reporting style in Indonesia. The results reveal significant differences in framing among the three media. These differences in framing indicate that media coverage not only conveys information but also constructs social reality and public opinion in line with each outlet's editorial ideology. This study underscores the importance of media literacy, enabling the public to interpret news critically and avoid being confined to a single perspective.

Abstract

This study analyzes the microclimate conditions of the Simpang Lima Pendopo area and evaluates the effectiveness of three levels of design intervention—20%, 40%, and 60% optimization—in improving the thermal comfort of public open spaces. Simulations using ENVI-met were conducted at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM to assess air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and PMV values. The results indicate that the existing conditions are still influenced by the dominance of hard pavement, minimal vegetation, and limited ventilation, resulting in high thermal discomfort. The 20% intervention has limited local impact, while the 40% scenario begins to improve heat distribution and comfort in pedestrian paths. The 60% scenario proved to be the most effective with a temperature decrease of 3–4°C, stable humidity, improved micro-ventilation, and PMV reaching the “warm–comfortable” category. The combination of three layers of vegetation, reflective-permeable materials, and water elements proved to be able to reduce heat, reduce hotspots, and create even thermal comfort. These findings confirm that large-scale vegetation-based interventions and surface management are effective strategies for improving microclimate quality in tropical urban areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of brand image and price perception on purchase decisions of Hamlin products, with customer experience as a moderating variable. The research was conducted online by distributing questionnaires to consumers of Hamlin products in Bali, one of the rapidly growing markets in fashion trends and social media usage. Although Hamlin’s distribution center is located in Jakarta, Bali was chosen as the research focus due to its consumers’ unique characteristics, including high sensitivity to brand image and price perception, responsiveness to social media trends, and adaptability to the fusion of tradition and modernity in fashion. This research uses a quantitative approach with the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) through the SmartPLS 4.0 application. The sample consisted of 160 respondents selected using purposive sampling individuals who had purchased Hamlin products. Data were collected through online questionnaires. The results show that brand image has a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions, and price perception also has a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions. However, customer experience does not moderate the effect of brand image and price perception on purchase decisions. This indicates that consumers’ previous experiences with Hamlin products have not strengthened the relationship between brand image or price perception and their purchasing decisions. The findings support the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), where attitude formation based on positive brand image and fair price perception strongly influences consumer decision-making. The absence of a moderating effect suggests that Hamlin’s consumers base their purchase decisions primarily on current perceptions rather than past experiences. The results provide managerial implications for Hamlin to enhance brand image and maintain perceived price fairness while improving customer experience to foster greater purchase confidence and loyalty.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of live selling and the double date campaign on sales of Annaira Collection gamis on the Shopee platform. The Muslim clothing industry in Indonesia has shown significant growth, driven by an increasing Muslim population, sharia lifestyle trends, and the development of digital technology that is changing consumer behavior (Ministry of Industry, 2021; Kotler & Keller, 2016; Thomson Reuters, 2020). The live selling strategy allows real-time interaction between sellers and consumers, increasing trust and emotional engagement (Kaplan & Haenlein, 2010; Chen & Lin, 2018), while the double date campaign offers limited promotional incentives that drive purchase interest and transaction volume (Kotler & Armstrong, 2018; Zhang et al., 2020). This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research method and a sample of 100 consumers selected through purposive sampling (Sugiyono, 2019; Sekaran, 2016). Data were collected through a Likert-based questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression to test the partial and simultaneous effects of both promotional strategies. The results showed that live selling and the twin-date campaign each had a positive and significant effect on gamis sales, and together, these two strategies explained 92% of the sales variation. These findings underscore the importance of creative and integrated digital promotional strategies to improve sales performance of Muslim fashion products in the e-commerce era.

Abstract

Current digital technology advancements require micro-businesses to adapt and develop their human resource (HR) competencies to compete in the modern era. This study aims to determine HR competency development strategies at the Jooce micro-business located in Balun Ijuk, Bangka Belitung. The research approach used was qualitative, with direct interviews with the business owner and employees serving as the primary data source. The research results show that Jooce has implemented various forms of digital technology, such as the use of a cashless payment system (QRIS), app-based financial records, and promotions through social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp Business. The human resource development process is carried out independently through direct guidance from the owner and informal learning from social media, especially TikTok, to keep up with sales trends and product innovations. However, no formal training has been provided specifically. Obstacles faced include a less strategic business location and the lack of a signboard, which makes the business difficult for new customers to find. Overall, Jooce's HR competency development strategy emphasizes independent learning, good communication between owners and employees, and the simple yet effective application of digital technology. The use of social media has been shown to have a positive impact on increasing customer base, especially after their promotional content went viral. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for other MSMEs in developing digital-based HR competencies to adapt to the demands of the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability of first-grade students at St. Yohanes Tomohon Catholic Elementary School 1 to recount daily activities through pictures. The study used the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research (CAR) model, implemented in one cycle. Twenty-eight students participated in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, storytelling performance tests, short interviews, and documentation. The results showed an improvement in students' storytelling abilities, particularly in the aspects of speaking confidence, fluency, coherence, and vocabulary use for daily activities. Picture media is effective because it aligns with the concrete thinking developmental stage of lower-grade students and supports information processing through visual and verbal channels, as described in Dual Coding Theory. These findings align with several other studies that conclude that picture series can improve elementary school students' storytelling abilities.

Abstract

The tourism sector in Surabaya has shown significant potential; however, information regarding tourist destinations remains fragmented, making it difficult for visitors to obtain accurate data related to locations, ticket prices, facilities, and parking availability. This study aims to design the UI/UX of the CakTrip mobile-based tourism application as a solution to provide integrated destination information and streamline the ticket-booking process. The Design Thinking method was employed, consisting of the Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Testing stages. In the Empathize stage, findings revealed that users experience difficulties in accessing clear and centralized tourism information. The Define stage resulted in a problem formulation emphasizing the need for more comprehensive and structured information. During the Ideate stage, various alternative solutions and user flows were developed to support easier navigation. Subsequently, the application prototype was created using Figma to visualize core features such as destination search, location details, ticket booking, and parking slot availability. The Testing stage was conducted to evaluate usability and ensure that the proposed design aligns with user needs. The results indicate that the Design Thinking approach is effective in producing an informative and user-friendly interface that enhances the overall experience of tourists planning their activities in Surabaya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms and functions of locutionary speech acts produced by the main character, Muhammad Ayyas, in the novel Bumi Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, using a pragmatic theoretical framework. Locutionary speech acts (literal meaning) are regarded as the primary foundation for understanding a character’s utterances and the author’s strategic approach to characterization. This descriptive–analytical qualitative study employs listening and note-taking techniques to collect data in the form of Muhammad Ayyas’s utterances. The analysis reveals that locutionary speech acts are realized through three dominant sentence forms: declarative, interrogative, and imperative. Declarative locutions function to affirm the character’s principles and his intellectual–religious identity, as illustrated in utterances such as “If God wills it, anything can happen!” and “That is adultery! It is forbidden!” Interrogative locutions are strategically employed for persuasive and rhetorical purposes, as exemplified by the question, “Answer honestly, Yelena, when you were in a critical condition… whose name did you call to ask for help?” Meanwhile, imperative locutions display a spectrum of assertiveness, ranging from humanistic encouragement, such as “Come on, Dev, hurry up, stop joking around. Oh God, it is so cold, Dev,” to direct moral resistance, as seen in the utterance, “Hey devil, take your companion and leave this place.” Overall, the analysis of literal meaning through locutionary speech acts proves to be an effective key for revealing the richness and firmness of a complex and multifaceted character. This finding underscores the importance of locutionary analysis in pragmatic studies of literary texts, particularly in uncovering character construction and ideological positioning through language use.
