Abstract

Speaking is one of the most important skills in English learning because it allows students to communicate ideas directly. However, many learners face speaking anxiety which makes them nervous, less confident, and unable to perform well in class. Most previous studies discussed this problem with quantitative methods, but there is still a need for a deeper description by reviewing and comparing qualitative findings. Therefore, this mini research was conducted as a descriptive qualitative library study by analyzing five previous articles related to students’ speaking anxiety. Referring to Horwitz (1986), speaking anxiety can be divided into communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation. The review shows that the dominant indicators are fear of making mistakes, lack of vocabulary, and low self-confidence. These factors cause nervousness, forgetting words, avoiding participation, and only fair scores in speaking assessments. In conclusion, speaking anxiety is a common phenomenon in English classrooms, and teachers need to provide motivation, supportive learning environments, and more speaking practice to help students reduce their anxiety and improve their performance.

Abstract

This literature review investigates the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based English learning applications on learners’ motivation and engagement in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. The rapid growth of digital education has brought AI technologies such as Duolingo, ELSA Speak, Memrise, and ChatGPT-based tutors into language classrooms, transforming traditional pedagogy. Through a synthesis of recent empirical studies, this review explores how AI-based tools enhance motivation through adaptive feedback, gamification, personalization, and real-time support. It also identifies challenges such as the novelty effect, limited social interaction, and technological inequality. The findings indicate that AI platforms can boost intrinsic and extrinsic motivation by supporting autonomy, competence, and relatedness—core components of Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 2000). Sustained motivation, however, requires integration with teacher guidance and social collaboration. AI tools serve best as complementary instruments that, when aligned with human empathy and pedagogy, foster engaging and sustainable learning experiences.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the influence of product quality and customer satisfaction on purchase decisions at Babang Redo Coffee Shop in Megamas Manado. The rapid growth of coffee shops in Manado has increased competition, making it essential for businesses to understand factors influencing consumer choices. This quantitative associative study collected data from 150 purposively sampled respondents via questionnaires. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 25, including t-tests, F-tests, and coefficient of determination (R²). Results show that product quality and customer satisfaction significantly and positively affect purchase decisions both partially and simultaneously. The R² value of 0.729 indicates that 72.9% of purchase decision variance is explained by these variables, with customer satisfaction having a stronger effect. These findings suggest that continuous improvement in product quality and customer satisfaction directly strengthens consumer purchase decisions, providing a basis for effective marketing strategies.

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the implementation of Samarinda Mayor Regulation Number 18 of 2022 concerning Supervision and Implementation of Administrative Sanctions in Waste Management in Samarinda City, with a focus on the Samarinda City District. The background to this policy is increasingly complex environmental problems, particularly the high volume of waste and the low level of public participation and awareness of the importance of orderly waste management. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The focus of the analysis uses the policy implementation theory by G. Shabbir Cheema and Dennis A. Rondinelli, which includes four main indicators: environmental conditions, inter-organizational relationships, organizational resources, and the characteristics and capabilities of implementing agents. The data analysis technique uses the interactive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which involves the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of this policy has generally been running, but is still not optimal. In terms of environmental conditions, it was found that public awareness of disposing of waste in the appropriate place and at the appropriate time is still low. Coordination between implementing agencies, such as the Environmental Agency, sub-districts, urban villages, and neighborhood associations (RT/RW) has not been optimal. Resources, both human resources and supporting facilities such as transportation facilities and temporary disposal sites, remain limited. Meanwhile, policy implementers in the field are deemed not fully prepared, both in terms of policy understanding, technical skills, and ability to address community resistance. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the successful implementation of this Mayoral Regulation is largely determined by the synergy between institutional strengthening, capacity building of implementers, resource availability, and the development of environmental awareness and a culture of order among the community.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the legal implications and validity of nominee arrangements in the ownership structure of limited liability companies in Indonesia, particularly in the context of restrictions on foreign investment. The research seeks to analyze the alignment between the practice of nominee shareholding and the principles of legality, justice, and legal certainty as upheld in Indonesian corporate and investment law. Employing a normative juridical approach, the study focuses on written legal norms, statutory regulations, and doctrinal analysis within the national legal system. The research data were obtained from secondary legal materials, including legislation, judicial decisions, scholarly writings, and relevant literature collected through systematic document review and library research. Data were analyzed using deductive reasoning and a descriptive-analytical technique to assess the coherence and consistency among the applicable legal norms. The findings reveal that nominee practices, although often justified under the principle of contractual freedom, in substance contradict the legal prohibition on indirect foreign ownership as stipulated in investment law. Such arrangements undermine the doctrine of good faith, distort the principle of limited liability, and create ambiguity in shareholder accountability. Consequently, nominee agreements are deemed legally flawed and contrary to public order because their intent conceals actual ownership and circumvents statutory limitations. The study concludes that reformulating corporate and investment regulations is essential to ensure transparency, uphold justice, and reinforce the rule of law in Indonesia’s investment environment.

Abstract

The problem of diabetes mellitus (DM) has reached an alarming level, marked by the number of sufferers that continues to increase every year. Based on data from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), there are around 589 million sufferers worldwide. In Indonesia in 2024, of a total of 185 million adults, the prevalence of diabetes reached 11.3% or around 20.4 million cases. Non-invasive blood sugar monitoring has long been a dream in diabetes management due to the convenience factor, especially for patients with high glucose. This study focuses on monitoring glucose and cholesterol levels non-invasively, reducing discomfort, pain in patients, and a preventive tool in dealing with potential emergencies. The method used in this research is the MAX30102 Sensor which is useful for implementing a multi-wavelength photoplethysmograph on a bracelet that will detect glucose levels through the patient's skin. Data will be channeled and processed by ESP32, OLED LCD as a visualization tool for the processed data, and Wi-Fi connectivity for providing data on a spreadsheet with continuous monitoring to health services. Testing was conducted on 10 respondents, comparing the results between a non-invasive method (NonivaBand) and an invasive method (conventional glucometer). The analysis showed an average error of 5.67% and an accuracy of 94.33%, indicating a strong correlation between the PPG signal and reference blood glucose levels. Future research is expected to use sensors with higher accuracy and more test data to improve measurement results.

Abstract

The availability of medicines in health facilities is a key indicator of effective and quality health services. However, in many Community Health Centers (Puskesmas), including Ayamaru Puskesmas in Southwest Papua, drug stock instability often occurs due to weak operational procedures (SOP) for drug logistics. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the drug logistics SOP model in ensuring drug availability at the Ayamaru Community Health Center Pharmacy Installation through a qualitative approach. The research method used was a qualitative case study, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews with pharmacy staff, direct observation of the logistics management process, and documentation of related documents such as stock records, drug requests, and distribution. Data analysis was conducted thematically based on aspects of the logistics SOP, including planning, receiving, storing, distributing, and recording drugs. The results showed that although the drug logistics SOP was in place, its implementation still faced obstacles such as limited human resources, delayed distribution from the district health office, and a lack of training and routine supervision. Furthermore, the recording and reporting system was largely manual, making it prone to errors and information delays. Therefore, strengthening the capacity of pharmacy staff, optimizing the logistics information system, and institutional commitment to consistently implementing the SOP are necessary. Therefore, understanding and improving the drug logistics SOP model can be key to ensuring sustainable drug availability at the Ayamaru Community Health Center, supporting equitable and quality access to healthcare services for the local community.
