Abstract

The novel “A Price to Believe” by Tere Liye tells that at first the character Jim had the belief since childhood that there was only one true love in life. The feeling of affection for a special woman in his life makes Jim afraid of losing. The novel study uses a castration approach which is useful for knowing the meanings in this study. The purpose of this research journal is to find out about the castration approach. This research method is to describe the novel “A Price to Believe” using qualitative methods. In addition, readers can find out the uniqueness in the study of the castration approach.

Abstract

In every human life that is constantly changing from time to time has made the existence of risk a determinant of how life in the future will occur. Ulrich Beck discovered the concept of a risk society that is closely related to industrial society. This concept discusses modernity which has consequences or risks related to technological advances and globalization. Modernity creates global risks where each of these risks was previously unknown to society. Developing countries are vulnerable countries in the dynamics of globalization compared to developed countries. This is because developing countries do not yet have sufficient capacity to regulate their own country. Therefore it is necessary to understand the risks of what is being done now by studying the past and analyzing the present life for a better life in the future. This study used a qualitative research method with a descriptive narrative study approach. The purpose of this research is to understand the importance of understanding the risks of every action, especially in the modernity of technological development and globalization so that future conditions can run in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The focus of the discussion within this research is on understanding moral values in Catholic Family education. In the midst of a world that is shaken by various storms of decline in moral values, such as consumerism, individualism, and hedonism, this has made dangerous impact toward the education of Catholic families. The family, especially the Catholic family, has a role as well as a responsibility to provide direction so that every member in the Catholic family survives from various challenges and threats of moral decline. The Catholic Church, through the Apostolic Exhortation –Familiaris Consortio, has provided direction in the efforts of Christian families to maintain moral values. Familiaris Consortio should be the basis for education meaning by Catholic families so that the Sacrament of Marriage can be interpreted seriously and minimize Catholic marriages that fail in the middle of the journey. This study will be divided into four main discussions that can help Catholic families upgrading moral values in their role in educating. The four discussions are: The situation of the family in today's society, the rights and obligations of parents regarding education, educating in the essential values of human life, and the mission of Education and the Sacrament of Marriage.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the types of politeness strategies used, the dominant language politeness strategies and determine the accuracy of using politeness strategies in Ustadzah Oki Setiana Dewi's video lectures on YouTube media. This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The data used in this study are speech fragments containing politeness in the video lectures of Ustadzah Oki Setiana Dewi. The data sources in this study were three video lectures with the most viewer views. The research instrument in this study was the researcher himself. Data collection techniques in this study were tapping and note-taking techniques. Validation of the data in this study is a triangulation technique (cross-check). The data analysis technique was carried out in the following stages. First, grouping speech fragments according to data sources. Second, provide data code. Third, classifying data. Fourth, describing and concluding the results of the research analysis. Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that several politeness strategies were found in Oki Setiana Dewi's video lectures on YouTube media which include positive politeness strategies without preamble, negative politeness strategies without preamble, and vague speech strategies. The strategy of speaking frankly without further ado and the strategy of speaking silently cannot be found in Oki Setiana Dewi's video lectures. The dominant speech strategy used in Oki Setiana Dewi's video lecture is a strategy of speaking without preamble, positive politeness as much as 30 data.

Abstract

Children with special needs are children who experience disorders or obstacles in their development and academics. This limitation has a negative impact due to the misunderstanding of the acceptance of parents and society for children with special needs. So that more and more children with special needs are neglected by their parents, not only by letting children live alone, but not fulfilling basic needs is a form of child neglect. This study aims to describe the impact and factors causing neglect of children with special needs as well as the role of the family, community and government in fulfilling the rights of children with special needs, especially in the right to a decent life and the right to education. Data were collected through interviews and systematic review. The results show that neglect of children with special needs has a negative impact on their development and academic aspects. One of the main factors causing children with special needs to be neglected is the parents' lack of acceptance of their children's condition, which gives the view that the limitations of children with special needs are seen as weaknesses that cannot be fixed. In this case, the support and role of the family, community and government hold an important contribution in eliminating the negative stigma that arises and develops in society as well as in fulfilling the rights of children with special needs themselves. Parents' acceptance of the child's condition, changes in the mindset of people who view children with special needs as unfit to be in society, and the role of the government in formulating laws for children with special needs, providing public facilities that suit the needs of children with special needs and providing inclusive schools are a unity that must be considered and run in tandem in order to create a decent life for children with special Needs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the performance of the principal in managing school administration through managerial supervision. The model used in School Action Research is the Kemmis Model which is designed with a cyclical process (cylical) consisting of 4 (four) phases of activities, namely: planning, taking action, observing, and reflecting. These stages continue to repeat until the problem is considered resolved. From the results of data analysis conducted on the implementation of managerial supervision activities in an effort to improve the ability of principals in managing school administration through managerial supervision coaching activities carried out in 2 cycles, it can be concluded that the performance of 2 elementary school principals increased significantly.

Abstract

English language learning in elementary schools based on the 2013 curriculum is included in local content, where English language learning becomes learning that is not mandatory in elementary schools. However, some elementary schools require their students to learn English, but the schools educator shortages. At the elementary school SDN Bereng Kajang - 1, researcher found that the school has a local content teacher, but the teacher have no basic in english learning. The researcher's goal is to improve English learning through vocabulary material with flashcard media. This research uses the CAR (Classroom Action Research) method in which this research collaborates with the teacher in observing the student learning process while in the classroom. This research was conducted in 2 cycles; the sample of this study was grade 4 students and total of the students are 12. In this study, researcher are more concerned with the process of each cycle stage in order to get satisfactory results.

Abstract

This Research and Development type research aims to determine the characteristics, feasibility, effectiveness of the Colloidal Chemistry textbook model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) integrated with green chemistry, and the achievement of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in a case study of Maritime University students. AMNI (UNIMAR AMNI) Semarang. The research method consists of define, design, and develop. The results of the study are: (1) textbooks have the following characteristics: the PBL model, integrated with green chemistry, contains HOTS indicators, is self-instructional, self-contained, stand-alone, adaptive, and user-friendly; (2) textbooks are suitable for use with a content feasibility score of 4.52, language 4.37, and presentation 4.65; (3) textbooks are used effectively, based on student learning outcomes in the knowledge aspect of 88.89%, the attitude and skill aspects show an increase and are in very good criteria; (4) Textbooks can optimize student HOTS, as evidenced by the N-Gain tests of students' critical and creative thinking skills of 0.85 and 0.90, the percentage of students' critical and creative thinking skills activities are 89% and 87%; and (5) the results of the student response questionnaire for small-scale and large-scale trials on positive criteria with percentages of 96.02% and 94.80%.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how Educational Management with Information System Strategies in the Self-Potential Development Activities of Students in Era Society 5.0. Qualitative methods were used for this useful research. Data collection techniques are observation, in-depth documentation, and interviews. Based on research results and discussions. The stages of planning, organizing, directing, and implementing, as well as controlling, are all included in the school management study. Because the education management information system is an operational force under the progress of formal and informal educational institutions, it is clear that education management is one of the most important and most needed aspects of education in the era of information system development. Good education management methods applied in schools are focused on the factors that make it possible for schools to be popular, superior, and achievers, among others. Forms of self-potential development in students, and teachers include providing extensive guidance to students, helping students who are less involved and motivated to learn, being a good role model, and planning extracurricular activities.

Abstract

The examples non examples learning model is a learning model that uses examples of pictures, symbols shown by the teacher through cases or pictures that are relevant to basic competencies. the use of cooperative learning models of the Examples non Examples type in class II students of MI Al Ma'arif Pesucen is expected to improve speaking skills. This study uses Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consists of two cycles. The quantitative approach in this study is based on the use of data, variables, operationalities, hypotheses, statistically significant. The data source for this research is from the research subjects themselves, namely students, through observations of fellow teachers, reflections from researchers and from test results. The subjects of this study were 25 students of grade II MI Al Ma'arif Pesucen. The results showed that the cooperative learning model of the examples non examples type could improve the speaking skills of class II MI Al Ma'arif Pesucen students. This is evidenced by the courage indicator from 64.57% in pre-cycle increased to 72.57% in cycle II, the description according to the picture from 75.20% increased to 91.20% in cycle II and the use of language from 75.50% in pre-cycle increased to 88.00% in cycle II.
