Abstract

Abstract

The Data Encryption Standard (DES) is an algorithm designed to protect information by converting it from a readable form, known as plaintext, into an unreadable form, known as ciphertext. This process is called encryption, whereas the reverse process, which translates ciphertext back into plaintext, is referred to as decryption. The primary weakness of DES lies in its relatively short key length, which allows all possible keys to be exhaustively tested in a relatively short time. This research aims to address that weakness by designing a derivative of the DES algorithm with a key length exceeding 64 bits. The findings of this study indicate that the position conversion table within DES plays the most critical role in determining the key length that the algorithm can process. Consequently, this research focuses on developing a pattern for position conversion labeling, with the expectation that it can be utilized to construct a new position conversion table capable of handling keys longer than 64 bits. The final result of this study is the development of a new DES-derived algorithm with a 128-bit key, named DES-Aku. However, DES-Aku is not merely a derivative of DES; it also serves as a protocol for constructing position conversion labels within DES. As an algorithm, DES-Aku successfully performs character encryption using a 128-bit key, and as a protocol, DES-Aku successfully demonstrates a pattern for constructing position conversion tables in DES, which can further be utilized to develop new position conversion tables for keys exceeding 128 bits.

Abstract

Abstract

Flood-control infrastructure requires effective construction management to ensure that limited resources are converted into reliable structures within the planned cost and duration. This study aimed to analyze the work quantities, budget, implementation schedule, critical activities, and planned progress of the retaining-wall structure in the CS-5 Kalibuntu segment of the CWC-1BKC Babakan and Cisanggarung River Works Project. A quantitative case-study approach was applied using contract documents, working drawings, and secondary project data. AutoCAD was used for quantity take-off, Microsoft Excel for Work Unit Price Analysis and budget estimation, and Microsoft Project for Work Breakdown Structure development, Critical Path Method analysis, and S-curve preparation. The analysis covered 60 repetitive segments along 720 meters. The estimated construction cost was IDR 54,535,705,559.17, with fill-material transportation contributing approximately 47%, reinforcement work 21%, K-225 concrete 14%, bored-pile reinforcement and casting 10%, and other activities 8%. The planned duration was 137 calendar days. Most evaluated activities had zero total float, indicating that delays in bored-pile, reinforcement, and concrete work could directly postpone project completion. The study concludes that integrating quantity, cost, schedule, and progress analyses provides a practical and coherent basis for controlling retaining-wall construction and anticipating cost and schedule deviations in river-infrastructure projects during project implementation.

Abstract

River sedimentation reduces channel capacity and increases flood risk, making river normalization essential for restoring hydraulic performance. The success of such projects depends substantially on the productivity and operational efficiency of heavy equipment operating under waterlogged conditions. This study aimed to determine the productivity of the Pindad Excava200 pontoon excavator in the Masangan River Normalization Project, Pasuruan Regency. A quantitative applied research design was employed. Primary data were collected through direct field observations of bucket capacity, cycle time, work efficiency, operating hours, equipment condition, and fuel and lubricant consumption, while secondary data were obtained from project documents, equipment specifications, relevant literature, and the 2026 Analisis Harga Satuan Pekerjaan (AHSP). Productivity was calculated for sediment dredging and finishing operations using the observed operational parameters. The results showed that the excavator achieved a productivity of 52.35 m³/hour, equivalent to 418.80 m³/day, during dredging and 67.79 m³/hour, equivalent to 542.32 m³/day, during finishing. Fuel consumption was 0.357 L/m³ for dredging and 0.268 L/m³ for finishing, whereas lubricant consumption was 0.010 L/m³ and 0.007 L/m³, respectively. In conclusion, finishing operations were more productive and resource-efficient than dredging operations because of their shorter cycle times and simpler operational sequences. These findings may support more accurate equipment planning and resource allocation in comparable river normalization and hydraulic engineering projects.

Abstract

River protection infrastructure requires effective cost and schedule control because construction delays can increase expenditures and reduce project performance. This study aimed to evaluate the cost and schedule performance of the Mbambang River gabion construction project in Malang Regency using the Earned Value Method (EVM). A quantitative applied research design was employed using primary data obtained from field observations, project implementation records, and construction documentation, along with secondary data consisting of project schedules, budgets, progress reports, and the work breakdown structure. Project performance was assessed using the Budgeted Cost for Work Scheduled (BCWS), Budgeted Cost for Work Performed (BCWP), Actual Cost for Work Performed (ACWP), Cost Variance (CV), Schedule Variance (SV), Cost Performance Index (CPI), and Schedule Performance Index (SPI). The results showed that gabion installation experienced significant schedule delays and cost inefficiency, with an SPI of 0.40, CPI of 0.90, SV of ?Rp1,391,064,088, and CV of ?Rp103,333,416. Nonwoven geotextile installation performed closer to the planned schedule but remained cost-inefficient, recording an SPI of 0.95, CPI of 0.91, SV of ?Rp1,966,686, and CV of ?Rp4,110,373. These findings demonstrated that both activities experienced schedule and cost deviations, although the magnitude of the deviations differed. The study concluded that EVM provides an effective early-warning framework for identifying project performance deviations and supporting timely corrective decisions in river infrastructure construction.

Abstract

Dam safety is essential for sustaining water supply, irrigation, flood control, and downstream community protection. Operational changes in reservoir levels may alter hydrostatic pressure, seepage conditions, and embankment stability, requiring comprehensive safety assessments. This study aimed to evaluate the slope stability and seepage safety of the Nipah Dam embankment under normal operation, raised reservoir level, rapid drawdown, and seismic loading conditions. A quantitative approach was applied using hydrological records, dam specifications, reservoir data, geotechnical parameters, and field observations. Reservoir inflow was modeled using HEC-HMS, while seepage behavior and pore-water pressure were analyzed using SEEP/W. Slope stability was evaluated using SLOPE/W based on the Bishop limit equilibrium method under static loading, Operating Basis Earthquake (OBE), and Safety Evaluation Earthquake (SEE) conditions. Under static loading, the factors of safety ranged from 2.302 to 3.209, exceeding the required criteria of 1.5 for steady-state seepage and 1.3 for rapid drawdown conditions. Under OBE loading, the factors of safety ranged from 1.623 to 2.111, while SEE loading produced values ranging from 1.001 to 1.398, satisfying the minimum criteria of 1.2 and 1.0, respectively. The piping safety factor was 5.9, exceeding the recommended value of 4.0. Therefore, Nipah Dam remained stable and safe under both existing operating conditions and the proposed 1.5-m increase in normal water level during normal operation and seismic events.

Abstract

Riverbank protection projects are susceptible to delays caused by fluctuating river discharge, tidal conditions, adverse weather, and restricted working hours. Such delays can increase project costs and reduce the effectiveness of disaster mitigation measures. This study evaluated the cost efficiency of accelerating the Masangan Riverbank Protection Project in Pasuruan Regency using the Critical Path Method (CPM). A quantitative approach was applied using secondary data, including the work breakdown structure, baseline schedule, activity durations, work volumes, progress reports, S-curve, and project cost documents. CPM calculations were used to identify critical activities based on earliest start and finish times, latest start and finish times, and zero float values. Acceleration was implemented by adding workers to critical activities while maintaining eight working hours per day and six working days per week. Workforce additions reduced the durations of K-175 concrete work, rubble masonry, and weep-hole installation from 42 to 30 days, although direct labor costs increased. The respective cost slopes were IDR 668,824, IDR 1,637,280, and IDR 818,640 per day. K-175 concrete work was identified as the most economical acceleration alternative, whereas rubble masonry represented the highest additional cost. The integration of CPM and cost-slope analysis supported selective schedule acceleration by prioritizing critical activities that achieved the greatest time reduction with the lowest additional cost.
