Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan peningkatkan kemampuan menulis procedural text pada siswa kelas SMPN 3 Salomekko dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL). Metode penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMPN 3 Salomekko berjumlah 29 siswa yang terdiri dua siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara, tes menulis procedural text, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis procedural text dari segi proses maupun hasil pada siswa kelas VII SMPN 3 Salomekko. Peningkatan kualitas proses dilihat dari peran guru maupun siswa yang mengalami peningkatan secara signifikan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Hal ini ditandai dengan munculnya respons positif melalui sikap kerja sama dan antusias yang ditunjukkan siswa, serta kondisi pembelajaran yang berlangsung dengan kondusif. Peningkatan secara hasil dilihat dari peningkatan skor tulisan procedural text siswa dari siklus I hingga siklus II. Rata-rata skor pada saat pratindakan sebesar 58,1 rata-rata pada siklus I sebesar 71,29, dan rata-rata pada siklus II sebesar 86,55. Kenaikan skor rata-rata mulai dari pratindakan hingga siklus II adalah sebesar 28,45. Kata Kunci: Problem Based Learning, Kemampuan Menulis, Procedur Text

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to increase English vocabulary through a Mind Map in class VII.5 students of SMPN 23 Makassar for the 2022/2023 academic year. This research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of two meetings and each meeting consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection stages. The results showed that from the pre-action the percentage of English vocabulary mastery was 20 students or 65%, cycle I increased by 22 students or 71%, and in cycle II it increased by 25 students or 81%. The results of this study indicate that English vocabulary can be increased through a Mind Map in class VII.5 students of SMPN 23 Makassar for the 2022/2023 academic year. Keywords: Vocabulary, Mind Map, English Language

Abstract

Abstract. This research aimed to examine the application of the word chain game learning technique in improving students' English vocabulary skills. This research also intends to increase students' self-confidence and courage to speak in English, especially in XI MIPA 2, SMA Negeri 14 Makassar. This form of research is included in the form of descriptive research with a quantitative approach. This research uses a chain word game technique. This research is included in the type of classroom action research which consists of two cycles. Data collection techniques used are observation and tests. Quantitative data obtained from the test in the form of students' vocabulary scores were analyzed using the Excel program to find out the average score obtained from the results of the students' vocabulary test by comparing the scores obtained before and after the action was given. The results of this research showed that the English vocabulary skills of students in class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 14 Makassar experienced an increase after the word chain game technique was applied to learning English. This can be seen from the average score of each cycle which continues to increase, from pre cycle to cycle I increased by 22%, this can be seen from the average score of 58 to 80 and from cycle I to cycle II increased by 10%, it also can be seen from an average score of 80 to 90. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of chain word games can improve students' vocabulary skills in English subjects. Learning English using the chain word game technique has also succeeded in making students more active and also more enthusiastic in learning English because they already have high confidence in making English sentences. Keywords: Vocabulary, Chain Word Game, English

Abstract

Abstract. This classroom action research (CAR) is titled 'Improving Students' Learning Interest through the Implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) Model in English Language Teaching for Grade X.3 at SMA Negeri 9 Makassar.' The purpose of this CAR is to examine the improvement of students' learning interest in Grade X.3 at SMA Negeri 9 Makassar through the implementation of PjBL model. This research involves a sample of 36 students in Grade X.3 at SMA Negeri 9 Makassar, second semester of the academic year 2022/2023, consisting of 14 male students and 22 female students. Data collection was conducted through observation and questionnaire distribution. The research was carried out in three meetings, namely the initial observation, implementation of cycle I, and implementation of cycle II. Based on the observation results and questionnaire responses in the first meeting, the students showed a lack of interest in learning English. After implementing the PjBL model in cycle I, 27.4% of the students showed growing interest in learning, and in cycle II, approximately 99.8% showed increased learning interest, with a Sig. value (2-tailed) of 0.000 (0.000 < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in learning interest between the implementation of Action Cycle I and Action Cycle II. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of PjBL is effectively improves students' learning interest in English at Grade X.3 at SMA Negeri 9 Makassar. This finding contributes significantly to strengthening our understanding of the effectiveness of PjBL in enhancing students' learning interest. This research also provides practical implications for educators in designing more engaging and interactive learning strategies to enhance students' learning interest in English. Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan model Problem Based Learning dengan menggunakan metode draw a picture dalam meningkatkan kosakata Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas VII D di SMP Negeri 2 Watampone. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian tindakan kelas yang menggunakan metode pengumpulan data melalui observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi.  Adapun Teknik analisis data melalui menelaah data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan (verifikasi data). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menunjukkan peningkatan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris siswa. Sebelum tindakan dilakukan, hasil tes menunjukkan presentase ketuntasan 12,5% yang tergolong sangat kurang. Sedangkan pada siklus I, hasil tes menunjukkan presentase ketuntasan 57,89% kategori kurang. Pada siklus II, nilai siswa telah mencapai ketuntasan minimal dengan presentase ketuntasan 83,33% kategori baik. Berdasarkan uraian diatas, maka disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning dengan metode draw a picture dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas VII D di SMP Negeri 2 Watampone Kata Kunci: Problem Based Learning, Draw a picture, Kosakata

Abstract

Abstract. The aim of this research is to examine the improvement of students' common vocabulary usage using flashcards as a media tool in the topic of Degrees of Comparison. The type of research conducted was Classroom Action Research, which utilized data from pre-tests, cycle reflections, and post-tests to observe the development of students during the learning process. The data collected from the pre-tests, cycle reflections, and post-tests were analyzed by calculating the average scores and grouping them into several categories. The findings of this research, which involved the use of flashcards in the topic of Degrees of Comparison, revealed an improvement in students' scores. Initially, 60% of the students were categorized as low (Very Low and Low). However, after the post-test data was collected at the end of cycle 2, none of the students fell into the low category but had moved up to the 'Intermediate' category Keywords: Kosakata sehari-hari, Flashcard, Degree of Comparison

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research is to determine the use of learning media Youtube for teaching telling the time subject to class VII A students at SMP Negeri 6 Watampone, and to observe whether there is an improvement in students' learning outcomes. This research adopts the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The research stages include planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects in this study are all 28 students of class VII A. The data were analyzed thematically, and the findings revealed that the use of engaging YouTube learning videos positively influenced students learning outcomes. The research findings indicate an improvement in students' learning outcomes and their engagement during the learning process. Each research cycle shows improvement, with the average score in the initial assessment of 70.00 increasing to 88.00 in the final assessment. Based on these results, it is recommended that teachers implement innovative teaching models and utilize learning media. The utilization of instructional videos on YouTube needs to be optimized to enhance students' learning outcomes. Keywords: Learning Media, Youtube, Student Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of implementing a contextual approach to improve vocabulary mastery of eighth-grade students. A classroom action research was conducted over two cycles in a secondary school. The research participants consisted of 30 eighth-grade students who had limitations in vocabulary mastery. This study utilized a qualitative approach with a classroom action research method. Data were collected through classroom observations, documentation, and written tests. In each cycle, intervention actions were conducted based on the principles of the contextual approach. The interventions involved using real-world contexts and problem-based activities to introduce and consolidate new vocabulary. The results of the research indicated that the implementation of the contextual approach significantly improved the vocabulary mastery of the eighth-grade students. At the beginning of the study, only 30% of the students achieved an adequate level of vocabulary mastery. However, after two cycles of research, the percentage of students reaching that level increased to 90%. Additionally, an improvement in vocabulary mastery was also evident from the results of the written tests, which showed an increase in the students' average scores from 63 to 84. Furthermore, this research also demonstrated that the contextual approach provided additional advantages, such as enhancing student motivation and engagement in learning. Students showed greater interest in learning vocabulary when real-world contexts were used, and they were more active in applying new vocabulary in everyday situations. Keywords: Learning outcome, Contextual Approach, Use of Vocabulary

Abstract

Abstract. This study examines the low results of learning English in class XI AKL 1 students of SMK Negeri 1 Pangkep. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of the Project Based Learning learning model to improve English learning outcomes in class XI AKL 1 students of SMK Negeri 1 Pangkep. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in 4 (four) stages of each cycle, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The focus of this research is the application of the Project Based Learning model and student learning outcomes. The setting of this research was class XI AKL 1 SMK Negeri 1 Pangkep, while the research subjects were one class teacher and 31 students consisting of 24 female students and 6 male students. In this study, the researcher acted as a teacher. Data analysis techniques are qualitative and quantitative. The results showed that the teacher's teaching activities in the first cycle were still in the sufficient category and in the second cycle they increased to a good category. Likewise, student learning activities in cycle I were in the sufficient category and in cycle II it increased to a good category. While student learning outcomes in cycle I were in the sufficient category and student learning outcomes in cycle II increased to a good category. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to improve the English learning outcomes of class VIII E students of SMP Negeri 2 Sinjai through the Problem Based Learning model. This type of research was Classroom Action Research which was conducted from April to June 2023. The number of research subjects was 29 people consisting of 14 men and 15 women. The research procedure consisted of two cycles. The research data is qualitative data obtained by using question sheets, observation sheets, and documentation. Data is processed using descriptive qualitative. The factors studied were student factors, process factors, and learning outcomes factors. The results of the study show an increase in learning outcomes, this is based on the presentation of student learning outcomes. The learning outcomes of students at the pre-cycle stage were 20.68% of students who completed. In the first cycle there was an increase to 44.82% of students who passed, while for the second cycle there was a significant increase, namely 79.32 students who passed. So it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning model can improve the learning outcomes of class VIII E students of SMP Negeri 2 Sinjai. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Degree of Comparison, Learning Outcomes
