Abstract

This study aims to look at the science process skills of students using guided inquiry learning models assisted by the PhET media on the science process skills (SPS) of light subject matter, students in class XI, second semester, of SMA Negeri 9 Medan Academic Years 2018/2019. The population is all students of class XI semester II. With the cluster random sampling technique, the class XI IPA 1 was selected as the experimental class and XI IPA 2 as the control class. Before the study was conducted, the average pretest value of the experimental class was 38.43 and the control class was 38.31. In testing the normality and homogeneity of the two classes, it is obtained that the data of both classes are normally distributed and homogeneous. Furthermore, in the experimental class guided inquiry learning was carried out using PhET media and conventional learning was carried out in other classes. After learning is given then in the two classes conducted posttest with the average results of the experimental class 83.33 and the control class 70.60. From the results of hypothesis testing, there was an increase in students' SPS due to the influence of the PhET guided inquiry learning model on student™s SPS the of light wave principal.Keywords: Learning Models, guided Inquiry, PhET media, Science Process Skills (SPS)

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of inquiry training learning models on science process skills using PhET media on the subject matter of sound wave in class XI semester II at SMA Negeri 14 Medan T.P 2018/2019. This type of research is quasi experimental with Two Group Pretest-Posttest Design. With the cluster random sampling tecnique obtained by class XI IPA-7 as the experimental class and class XI IPA-5 as the control class. The experimental class was treated with the inquiry training learning model using PhET media and the control class with conventional learning. Data collection techniques using essay tests form as much as 10 items which have been validated by the validator. From the results of the study, the average posstest of the experimental class was 76.46 and the control class was 69.27. The results of data analysis using the t test of one party shows a difference namely tcount = 4.314 and ttable = 1.637.  This research was concluded that there was effect of inquiry training learning model on skills of science process using PhET media in sound wave materials.Keywords: Science Process Skills, Inquiry Training Learning Models, Sound Waves

Abstract

This research was conducted to map the factors that became the source of student learning difficulties in terms of the learning process and the difficulties experienced in solving Newton's style and law problems. The population of this descriptive study was all students of class VIII in Langkat Regency, while the schools that were the samples in this were students of class VIII in three schools, namely SMP Negeri 2 Stabat, SMP Seri Langkat, and SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap. Data collection in this study was conducted using student questionnaire instruments, teacher questionnaires, learning activity observation sheets, student activity assessment sheets and essay questions. The analysis of the research results found that the factors that influence the learning difficulties of junior high school students in Langkat Regency are the weak of Utilization of Learning Resources / Learning Media, the inadequate learning which can trigger and maintain student engagement and the low ability of students to solve problems coherently. Keywords: Learning Difficulties, Descriptive Study, Observation Sheet

Abstract

Development of test instruments is the process of developing tools or procedures used in the framework of measurement and assessment activities. This study aims to develop well-qualified questions including validity, reliability, difficulty index, and differentiation. This research is a research and development with a development process using a 4D development model developed by Thiaragajan, et al (1974) covering four stages, i.e. : Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate, which in this study was only conducted up to 3D (development stage). The definition stage is performed student analysis, material analysis, and objective analysis. The design stage is the preparation of tests and the selection of test formats. The development stage consists of instrument preparation, expert validation and product trials to students. The test instruments developed are assessed according to the indicators and aspects of validation so that they are declared valid by the validator. The reliability value of the test instrument developed is 0.66 which belongs to the category of moderate reliability. Furthermore, the level of difficulty obtained is 8 medium questions and 2 easy questions, and the differentiation obtained is 7 enough questions and 3 good questions. The developed test instruments are acceptable and eligible to be used as test results of students' learning results on sound wave materials in grade 11 of high school.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a HOTS-based test instrument in measuring students' critical thinking skills on the material of quantities and units at SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir which has met the criteria for testing the instrument's feasibility including content validity, item validity, reliability testing, level of difficulty, discriminating power, and student response test. This research is a research development or Research and Development (RnD) using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Rambah Hilir with the research subjects of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 2 Rambah Hilir. Based on the data obtained from content validity with the Lawshe technique, 10 questions were obtained that could be used. Meanwhile , from testing the validity of the items , there are 8 valid questions and 2 invalid questions . In the reliability test obtained a value of 0.543390 with moderate correlation criteria. For the level of difficulty, scores ranged from 0.297 to 0.70 with the criteria that 1 item was said to be easy, 1 item was said to be difficult, and 8 items were said to be moderate . While different power derive a value of -1 , 8 - 2.5 with a category 2 a matter of saying ugly and the two problems said to be good at all. Meanwhile, to test students' response was obtained by 78 , 1 % in both categories. The conclusion from the overall test results is that the HOTS-based test instrument is feasible to use to measure critical thinking skills.Keywords : Development of Test Instruments, Critical Thinking Skills, Quantities and Units

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between effective communication and student learning outcomes in Physics class XI MIA SMA Al Fityan Medan T.A 2020/2021. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with the type of research used is correlational research. To obtain the necessary data, in this study the researchers used a data collection tool in the form of a questionnaire. For effective communication variables, an average score of 74 is in the medium category, while student learning outcomes in Physics class XI MIA SMA Al Fityan Medan get an average score of 87 and are in the medium category. In this study, the correlation coefficient between effective communication and student learning outcomes in Physics class XI MIA SMA Al Fityan Medan was obtained rcount = 0.515 with rtable = 0.162 at the significance level = 0.05, thus rcount > rtable or rcount value is more greater than rtable, then effective communication has a positive relationship with student learning outcomes in Physics subjects. The coefficient of determination (KD) of effective communication is 26.6%. Based on the data analysis and discussion conducted, it can be concluded that the hypothesis which states "there is a positive and significant relationship between effective communication and student learning outcomes in Physics class XI MIA SMA Al Fityan Medan T.A 2020/2021" can be accepted.Keywords: Effective Communication, Student Learning Outcomes, SMA Al Fityan Medan

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of students' critical thinking skills in distance learning physics subjects using aspects of critical thinking skills according to Ennis. The method used is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The population in this study was all SMA/MA Tanjungbalai City. The research sample was taken by purposive sampling as many as 150 students of class X from 5 sample schools SMA/MA Tanjungbalai City. The research instrument is a test of critical thinking skills and a questionnaire. The critical thinking ability of SMA/MA students in Tanjungbalai City in the subject of straight-motion physics in distance learning is still low overall. The average test of students' critical thinking skills is 55,73 in the low category. With the average achievement of each aspect, namely 61,83 in the aspect of Elementary Clarification, 56,37 in the aspect of Basic Support, 53,60 in the aspect of Interference, 56,17 in the aspect of Advance Clarification, 50,67 in the aspect of Strategy and Tactics. Student responses to distance learning show that all respondents of SMA/MA Tanjungbalai On the aspect of access to the use of distance learning, students gave an average response of 70%, indicating that students still find it difficult to use the distance learning method applied. Understanding the material shows that learning occurs when 78% of students better understand the material in face-to-face learning, and 52% of students understand physical lessons through distance learning. The aspect of implementing distance learning shows that students' responses to the effectiveness of distance learning are weak, with an average response of 65%

Abstract

This study aims to develop an objective test of conceptual knowledge of physics on Mechanical Waves material in high school that meets good test qualification standards, covering aspects of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, discriminating power and effectiveness of distractors. This type of research is research development or Research and Development (R&D), with the ADDIE model. The population of this study were all students of SMA Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan with the subject of all students of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan. The instrument used in this study was a multiple-choice test of 50 items to measure conceptual knowledge. The results showed that the content validity by experts of the objective test of conceptual knowledge of physics on Mechanical Waves material in high school was very good. Judging from the empirical validity of the broad field test, 37 valid items and 13 invalid items were obtained. The reliability of the test is 0.91. The level of difficulty obtained 7 easy questions, 27 moderate questions, and 4 difficult questions. The discriminatory power obtained 30 items very good, 5 items good, 2 items enough, and 1 item not good. Based on the effectiveness of the distractors, 20 distractors were found to be inefficient or the distractors were not functioning. This conceptual knowledge test can be used as a standard test to measure students' conceptual knowledge on the Mechanical Wave material in high school.

Abstract

The research aims to design a virtual preview module with a scientific process skill approach with a dynamic electrical circuit application on electric matter. This research method uses descriptive research methods with quantitative approaches, on ADDIE development models with the sat analysis stages (data and information collection), design (product planning), early product development, implementation (initial field test), evaluation (revision of test results). The research subject is a virtual preview module with a scientific process skill approach. The object of research is dynamic electrical matter. The product developed was validated by 6 validator experts made up of 3 validator experts, 3 validator media experts. Also seen the response of two physics teachers. Initial field trials were carried out by passing an engagement sheet to 8 students. Research shows that virtual preview modules with a scientific process skill approach with a dynamic electrical circuit application on the electric circuit studios are declared worthy after validation by materials experts, media experts, teachers and student responses. Assessment of material experts with an average percentage of 81.93% in valid/ worthy categories, media with an average percentage of 85.92% in valid/ worthy category, teacher response rate 86.33 % with dancing really well and an 80.32% with the attractive category and the final trial in the large class obtained a percentage of 85.11% with the very interesting categor

Abstract

This research aims to develop critical thinking based test instrument on Sound Material Using E-Learning, test the feasibility of the instrument and determine the level of students' critical thinking. The research was designed with the ADDIE Learning Design Model and was carried out at SMA Negeri 3 Medan with the subject of class XI students in the MIA program. The initial stages of this research are Analysis, the next stage is Design, then Develop stage by conducting product trials in small and large groups, and the last stage is Implement with evaluation at each step, the last stage is the distribution of instruments carried out within the scope of SMA Country 3 Medan. The results showed that the test instrument based on Critical Thinking Skills On Sound Material Using E-Learning the sound wave material developed by the researcher had met the criteria worthy of being used as a sound wave material learning outcome test instrument. The feasibility of this test instrument was based on validity and reliability tests, from validity test, from 20 questions obtained 7 valid questions. For the large group reliability test, the value of 0.72 is included in the feasible category. It can be concluded that the questions developed by researchers can be used as a measuring tool for students' cognitive knowledge and can be well received by students.
