Abstract

Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) is the process of breastfeeding immediately after birth, with skin-to-skin contact between the mother and baby. Early initiation of breastfeeding is known to play a crucial role in the success of exclusive breastfeeding. However, coverage of early initiation of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding in the community is still suboptimal. This study aims to determine the relationship between early initiation of breastfeeding and the success of exclusive breastfeeding. The research method used was quantitative with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample was mothers with infants aged 6–12 months. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between early initiation of breastfeeding and the success of exclusive breastfeeding (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that mothers who practice early initiation of breastfeeding have a greater chance of successfully providing exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that is a public health problem due to its increasing prevalence and the risk of serious complications. One important factor in controlling blood pressure in hypertensive patients is adherence to antihypertensive medication. However, patient adherence to medication is still relatively low. This study aims to determine the relationship between medication adherence and blood pressure control in hypertensive patients. This study used a quantitative method with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample was hypertensive patients undergoing treatment at health care facility X. Data were collected using a medication adherence questionnaire and blood pressure measurements, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between medication adherence and blood pressure control (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that hypertensive patients who adhere to medication have a greater chance of achieving good blood pressure control.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar levels due to impaired insulin secretion or function. Blood sugar control is significantly influenced by patient behavior in managing the disease, one of which is the patient's level of knowledge. Good knowledge is expected to encourage patients to adopt a healthy lifestyle and adhere to treatment. This study aims to determine the relationship between patient knowledge and blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. This study used a quantitative method with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample was patients with Diabetes Mellitus undergoing treatment at health care facility X. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire and blood sugar level results, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between patient knowledge and blood sugar levels (p < 0.05).

Abstract

Spinal anesthesia is a regional anesthetic technique widely used in surgical procedures, but it often causes side effects in the form of hypotension due to sympathetic blockade. One way to prevent hypotension is by administering preloading fluids before spinal anesthesia. This study aimed to determine the relationship between preloading fluid administration and increased blood pressure in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia. This study used a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 60 patients undergoing spinal anesthesia and was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through observations of preloading fluid administration and blood pressure measurements before and after spinal anesthesia. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between preloading fluid administration and increased blood pressure in spinal anesthesia patients with a p-value <0.05. It was concluded that preloading fluid administration is associated with stability and increased blood pressure in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia.

Abstract

Background: The postpartum period is a complex transition period for mothers, affecting not only the physical but also the psychological aspects. Hormonal changes, new role demands, and lack of social support can trigger psychological disorders such as baby blues, postpartum depression, and anxiety. Objective: This case study aims to describe the psychological aspects of postpartum mothers and the factors that influence them. Methods: This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subject was a mother on day 10 of postpartum who was experiencing emotional distress. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and a review of medical documentation. Results: The study results showed that the mother experienced symptoms of baby blues, including feelings of sadness, crying easily, fatigue, and excessive anxiety. Factors influencing the mother's psychological condition include hormonal changes, lack of husband's support, physical exhaustion, and a lack of understanding about postpartum adaptation. Conclusion: The psychological aspects of postpartum mothers require special attention from healthcare professionals and families. Early detection and psychosocial support are crucial to prevent more severe psychological disorders.

Abstract

English plays an important role in nursing education, both in academic and clinical contexts. Nursing students are required to be able to understand medical terminology, communicate with patients and health workers, and access international scientific literature. This study aims to analyze the difficulties experienced by students of the Bachelor of Nursing Study Program at Bhamada Slawi University in learning English. The study used a qualitative descriptive design involving 197 third-semester students divided into classes A, B, C, and D. Data were collected through learning needs questionnaires and limited interviews. The results showed that students experienced difficulties in six main aspects, namely nursing vocabulary, speaking skills for clinical communication, speaking skills for academic presentations, the ability to read nursing texts, academic writing skills, and the ability to listen to clinical instructions and academic explanations. The findings also showed that the fulfillment of English learning needs was closely related to the application of interactive, interesting, and student-centered learning strategies. Strategies such as role play, clinical simulations, presentation-based assignments, and guided reading were considered effective in increasing the engagement and learning outcomes of nursing students.

Abstract

Pharmacists play a crucial role in pharmaceutical services, particularly in ensuring the safe, effective, and rational use of medications. Improving pharmacist competency through ongoing professional training is essential to enhance knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical case management. This study aimed to analyze the effect of pharmacist training on improving knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical case management. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest approach. A sample of 35 pharmacists working in healthcare facilities was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Knowledge was measured using a multiple-choice questionnaire, while skills were assessed through a pharmaceutical case study simulation. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from 62.4 ± 9.3 to 81.7 ± 7.6 and in skills scores from 65.2 ± 8.7 to 83.5 ± 6.9 (p < 0.001). It was concluded that pharmacist training effectively improves competency in pharmaceutical case management.

Abstract

Oral and dental health is an important indicator of overall health, well-being, and quality of life. Root canal treatment is one of the conventional endodontic procedures aimed at cleaning vital or necrotic pulp tissue within the root canal. However, root canal treatment requires multiple visits. The large number of visits needed for this treatment often leads to patient noncompliance, which may result in incomplete treatment. This study is a descriptive study conducted on patients at the Conservation Clinic of RSKGM FKG Universitas Indonesia during May–June 2025. The population consisted of all patients seeking treatment at RSKGM FKG Universitas Indonesia. Samples were taken using purposive sampling with criteria of patients currently undergoing root canal treatment (RCT), aged over 18 years, and willing to participate as respondents. The results showed that most patients undergoing root canal treatment were in the noncompliant category, with 60 people (92.3%), and no patients were found to be compliant in undergoing RCT. Female patients in the noncompliant category accounted for 33 people (50.8%). Most respondents aged 18–40 years were also in the noncompliant category, totaling 36 people (55.4%). The highest number of noncompliant respondents were those with a bachelor’s degree (S1), totaling 30 people (46.2%). In conclusion, patient compliance in undergoing root canal treatment at RSKGM FKG Universitas Indonesia falls into the noncompliant category.
