Abstract

Stigmatization of the mentally ill persons has been one of the derailing factors on the gains made in fighting mental disorders. This stigmatization has seen escalation of the mental illness related effects such as school dropouts, suicide, substance abuse among other consequences as victims eschew seeking treatment for fear of stigmatization. On the other hand, mass media content through the framing of messages and how the communication on mental health issues has been portrayed, play integral role in shaping the public opinion on mental illness. This study therefore sought to examine the role played by mass media content on the stigmatization of mental illness among college students in Kenya Medical Training College. Using a descriptive research approach, the study through a questionnaire surveyed 384 students drawn from a population of 51045 students at the college. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS. The findings revealed that the mass media content significantly influenced mental illness stigmatization among the college students. A conclusion was drawn that the failure by the mass media content to frame mental health issues in a clear and articulate manner, and lack of priming of the mental health-related issues contributed to increased ignorance and stereotyping of the mentally ill persons. It is therefore recommended that the media practitioners and stakeholders have a role to play in eradicating the stigmatization of the mentally ill persons by priming the mass media content on mental issues at the prime time just like other issues, and framing the content on mental health in an articulate manner that is more understandable. More time should also be allocated to mental health issues in the mass media content in order to create more awareness and eradicate the stigmatization.

Abstract

Nutritional problems can occur in the life cycle starting from the womb until old age. Currently, Indonesia is facing multiple nutritional problems that must receive serious attention in handling. Malnutrition problems can cause health problems throughout the life cycle. One of the nutritional problems that occurs, especially in West Aceh Regency, is stunting. thus causing many children to have their growth and development hampered. The 4 star food menu is one way to provide nutrition for stunting toddlers. The aim of this research was to determine the knowledge, education, employment of mothers and eating patterns by providing MPASI with a 4 star menu as an innovation to fulfill nutrition for stunted children in the Johan Pahlawan Health Center working area, West Aceh Regency. The method used inThis research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive research type with an exploratory approach, namely conducting in-depth interviews. In general, not many people in the Johan Pahlawan Community Health Center work area are aware of the existence of the 4 star MPASI menu innovation for handling stunting. The relatively low level of education causes the mother's lack of knowledge in fulfilling nutrition according to the MPASI 4 Bintang Baduta menu. In handling stunting clowns, although there are those who know how to make the menu, they do not provide a 4 star MPASI menu due to low economic factors.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease in the form of a metabolic disorder characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels above normal. Currently Aceh is in 8th place with the highest incidence of DM in Indonesia with the city with the highest incidence of DM being the city of Banda Aceh at 2.3%. Nutrition counseling for DM sufferers is providing education and understanding regarding knowledge and skills in controlling DM. Education is included in the 4 pillars of DM control so that it can increase patient knowledge regarding dietary compliance and prevent complications. The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of nutritional counseling using booklets and leaflets on dietary compliance and the level of knowledge of type 2 DM patients at Meuraxa Regional Hospital, Banda Aceh City. This research is a Quasi Experimental Design research using Pre-Post Test on booklet and leaflet groups. The sample used was 60 type 2 DM patients in classes II and III at Meuraxa Regional Hospital, Banda Aceh City, with 30 booklet groups and 30 leaflet groups. Statistical tests use Paired Sample T - Test and Independent Sample T – Test. This research shows that the results of nutritional counseling on dietary compliance posttest booklet are more effective than posttest leaflet, with a value of sig. (2-tailed) shows a P Value of 0.048. (p < 0.05). Nutrition counseling on the posttest booklet knowledge level is more effective than the leaflet posttest, with a sig. (2-tailed) shows a P Value of 0.045. (p < 0.05). So it can be concluded that providing nutritional counseling using booklets is more effective than leaflets on diet compliance and the level of knowledge of Type 2 DM patients at Meuraxa Regional Hospital, Banda Aceh City. Thus, nutritional counseling using booklet media is a recommendation for dietary compliance and the level of knowledge of type DM patients at Meuraxa Regional Hospital, Banda Aceh City.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is a condition when a person experiences chronic malnutrition that causes health problems in adolescent girls, with an Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) size of less than 23.5 cm. Based on the results of initial observations made by researchers by observing several high schools, after researchers observed that in MAN 1 West Aceh there were several young women with CED justification. This study aims to determine the relationship between macronutrient and micronutrient intake on the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in adolescent girls in MAN 1 West Aceh. The research method uses a cross-sectional approach carried out in MAN 1 West Aceh. Proportionnate Stratified Random Sampling sampling technique with a total of 261 people in MAN 1 West Aceh. The instrument used is the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire. Data analysis using Chi Square Test and Logistic Regression. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between carbohydrate, protein, fat intake and CED in adolescent girls with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05), there was no significant relationship between iron and CED in adolescent girls with a p-value of 0.083 (p>0.05), there was no significant relationship between calcium and CED in adolescent girls with a p-value of 0.735 (p>0.05), There was no significant association between zinc and CED in adolescent girls with a p-value of 0.374 (p>0.05). Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between macronutrient intake of CEDs in adolescent girls with p-value (<0.05), while micronutrient intake has no significant relationship with CED in adolescent girls with p-value (>0.05). Itis hoped that the school can carry out nutritional status assessment activities for students so that information and education can be provided related to the importance of paying attention to the nutritional status of female students who fall into the category of women of childbearing age (WUS) for health preparation and nutritional status in adulthood. It is better for teenagers to pay attention to a good diet according to their needs.

Abstract

The achievement of pregnant women implementing DDHB in North Sumatra province in 2023 was 37.37%, not yet reaching the target of 95% and North Sumatra is the province with the lowest achievement in Indonesia in 2020-2022. The aim of the research is to provide an overview of the implementation of the DDHB program for pregnant women using CIPP theory. The research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive approach and evaluative design. The informants consisted of a key informant, namely PJ hepatitis, 2 main informants, namely hepatitis staff and a supporting informant, namely the head of the P2PM section. PThere is an aspect of the context of not achieving the target of pregnant women implementing DDHB due to the impact of previous Covid-19, pregnant women doing many visits 1 at health facilities such as clinics which do not report to the health service, and Padang Sidempuan, West Nias and Nias Regencies do not carry out DDHB . In the input aspect, budget shortages cause limitations in carrying out interventions. In the process aspect, there was a delay in reporting by districts/cities due to the inability to use the Sihepi application so it was done manually. In the product aspect, pregnant women implementing DDHB did not reach the target, namely 37.37%, with the 2023 RENSTRA target of 95%, and districts/cities implementing DDHB did not reach the target, namely 93.93%, with the 2023 RENSTRA target of 100%, and the achievement of Hepatitis B reactive pregnant women in 2023 is 0.83, indicating a decrease from the previous year of 1.1%. ImplementationDDHB for pregnant women in North Sumatra Province has not gone well. So that it is necessary to carry out in-depth advocacy, outreach, surveys and interventions with all parties involved such as pregnant women, health workers in health facilities, and district/city health offices, and increase cross-sector collaboration.
