Abstract

The local wisdom of Angklung as a cultural heritage is utilized in physics learning to bridge abstract concepts. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach using Angklung in improving the conceptual understanding of sound intensity and cultural appreciation of high school students. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group model in two classes, namely experimental and control at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. The experimental group used a CRT-Angklung based module that linked the physics principles of sound intensity with cultural values, and the control group used conventional learning. Results showed a significant increase in concept understanding in the experimental group (N-Gain=59,8%) compared to the control group (49,2%), with 81% of experimental students reaching the high category in cultural appreciation. Student participation observations also recorded higher enthusiasm (93%) in the experimental group during Angklung practice. These findings prove that integrating local culture through CRT not only overcomes physics misconceptions, but also strengthens students’ cultural literacy, supporting contextual learning relevant to Merdeka Belajar policy.

Abstract

The general objective of this study is to analyze the effect of ecoenzyme concentration on contaminated water quality parameters. The specific objectives of this study are to determine the effect of ecoenzymes on physical indicators of water, such as the odor of contaminated water, the pH of contaminated water, the turbidity of contaminated water, and the conductivity of contaminated water. The research method used in this study is a True Experiment and a Completely Randomized Design. The results of the study indicate that the effect of ecoenzymes on the characteristics of contaminated wastewater is very good because there are supporting enzymes that help clarify contaminated wastewater. Additionally, the application of ecoenzymes to contaminated water, particularly to address odor, is very effective because the enzymes in ecoenzymes help eliminate odor-producing bacteria in contaminated wastewater. The use of ecoenzymes has a significant impact on conductivity values.

Abstract

Physics learning in university is often theoretical and lacks a contextual approach, making it difficult for students to understand concepts in depth. Thematic-Explorative-Democratic Learning (TED) is an approach that emphasizes the exploration of real experiences and democratic interaction. This study aims to determine the results of physics concept exploration and democratic interaction of students through the application of TED learning themed traditional games cenge-cenge. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, exploration sheets, and democratic interaction assessment sheets. The results show that students are able to identify various physics concepts such as Newton's laws, gravity, parabolic motion, rigid body equilibrium, friction, and momentum. Democratic interaction is seen from active collaboration between students across semesters. It is concluded that TED learning based on traditional games is effective in improving contextual physics understanding as well as student participation and cooperation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Tracker application-based Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on improving student learning outcomes in free fall motion material. This study is based on the lack of use of technology-based learning media in physics learning, as well as low student active involvement in the learning process. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects were 11th grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Tondano, consisting of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes in the experimental class compared to the control class. The average post-test scores of students in the experimental class were higher than those in the control class. The use of the Tracker application was effective in helping students understand the concept of free fall motion through video and graphic analysis. Based on statistical tests (t-tests), a significance value of less than 0.05 was obtained, indicating that there was a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two classes.

Abstract

Conceptual skills in physics are an essential foundation for students to understand natural phenomena deeply and analytically, yet conventional teaching often fails to connect abstract theory with real-life contexts. This study aims to develop a physics learning module integrated with the local wisdom of the Toba Batak Taganing on mechanical wave material to enhance students' conceptual skills. The developed module links concepts of waves, resonance, and interference with the acoustic principles of the Taganing musical instrument through a Problem-Based Learning approach. Expert validation results demonstrated a high level of feasibility, with details of 78% (Feasible category) by subject matter experts, 85% (Highly Feasible) by cultural experts, and 97% (Highly Feasible) by language experts. A limited trial with grade XI students showed an improvement in conceptual skills, specifically an abstraction ability of 71% (Good) and systematic thinking of 72% (Good). Teacher and student responses to the module were very positive, with a practicality level of 81%, indicating that the module is not only easy to use but also contextual and engaging. These findings confirm that integrating local wisdom into ethnoscience-based physics learning design is not only effective in strengthening students' conceptual understanding but also plays a strategic role in preserving cultural heritage and fostering learning engagement.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the PhET Simulation-Based Problem-Based Learning model on Students' Science Process Skills (KPS) at SMAS Bani Adam A's. The study took place in June 2025 and the quasi-experimental method was a nonequivalent control group design. In this study, the sample was determined through purposive sampling where class X-3 was the experimental class and X-1 the control class with the same number of students, namely 30 students. The research instrument was a multiple-choice KPS test totaling 20 questions. Before being given treatment, a pretest was given and then a prerequisite test was carried out to ensure the data was normally distributed and homogeneous. Given in both classes, the average score was 47.6 in the experimental class and 48 in the control class, each having a standard deviation of 15.35 and 15.5, respectively. Then given treatment, the posttest results showed an average score of 78.16 in the experimental class and 63.66 in the control class with standard deviations of 10.94 and 13.38, respectively. The data analysis used a one-tailed t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05, indicating that t count > t table. The results demonstrated a significant difference in both classes, thus supporting the application of the PhET Simulation-Based Problem-Based Learning model to the KPS.
