Abstract

This research aims to analyze the profile of students’ problem-solving ability in problems of optical instruments. This survey research involved 65 students class XI of MAN 3 Yogyakarta. The research instrument was in the form of 3 problem-solving questions in the form of a description. The results showed the percentage of students in the expert category was still relatively low at 30,7% and the students in the novice category were quite high at 69,3% so that students’ overall physics problem-solving abilities were relatively low. In this research, some student difficulties were still found, one of which was in determining the focus of the right lens for patients with eye disorders to use glasses and determine magnification when using a magnifying glass. Efforts to implement innovative learning are needed to improve problem-solving abilities in overcoming students’ physics problems.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (PBM) menggunakan macromedia flash terhadapkemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi pokok fluida statis di kelas XI SMA Negeri 11 Medan T.P.2015/2016.Jenis penelitian ini ialahquasi experiment dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas XI Semester II SMA Negeri 11 Medan yang terdiri dari 5 kelas. Sampel penelitian diambil 2 kelas yang ditentukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling, yaitu kelas eksperimen XI IPA4 dengan model PBM menggunakan macromedia flash dan kelas kontrol XI IPA2 dengan pembelajaran konvensional, jumlah siswa masing-masing tiap kelas 39 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah berbentuk essay10 item yang telah valid. Menguji hipotesis digunakan uji t, setelah uji persyaratan dilakukan yaitu uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Berdasarkanhasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji tdiperoleh ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari model PBM menggunakan macromedia flash terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi pokok fluida statis di kelas XI Semester II SMA Negeri 11 Medan T.P.2015/2016.   Kata Kunci :Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah, Macromedia Flash, Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah

Abstract

Pentingnya pemilihan program studi di perguruan tinggi, khususnya dalam bidang ilmu pendidikan, yang memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap karir dan pengembangan akademik siswa menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari siswa. Kegiatan sosialisasi daring ini dilakukan dengan tujuan memberikan informasi komprehensif kepada siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) terkait peluang karir dan proyeksi akademik dalam bidang ilmu pendidikan. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini diikuti oleh 75 siswa dari beberapa sekolah. Hasil evaluasi dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa sebesar 45% dalam strategi memilih program studi yang tepat, serta peningkatan kesadaran mengenai pentingnya mengenali minat dan bakat sebelum menentukan jurusan. Sosialisasi ini juga berhasil meningkatkan minat siswa terhadap program studi ilmu pendidikan dari 20% sebelum kegiatan menjadi 75% setelah kegiatan. Artikel ini menekankan pentingnya penyediaan informasi yang tepat guna membantu siswa membuat keputusan yang lebih baik dalam memilih jurusan, yang pada gilirannya akan mempengaruhi kepuasan akademik dan kesuksesan karir mereka di masa depan. Abstract

Penggunaan laboratorium fisika dasar memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa Pendidikan Fisika Universitas Negeri Manado. Namun, keterbatasan panduan eksperimen yang sistematis dan mudah diakses seringkali menjadi kendala dalam pelaksanaan praktikum yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan e-book panduan eksperimen berbasis FlipHTML5 sebagai sarana pembelajaran interaktif bagi mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Validasi produk dilaksanakan oleh 7 reviewer menggunakan instrumen kuisioner aspek materi, bahasa, dan media, sedangkan kepraktisan diujikan kepada 20 mahasiswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan e-book ini sangat layak dengan skor rerata tiap aspek di atas 4,20 dan sangat praktis dengan skor rerata 4,40. PEKA RASA memudahkan mahasiswa mengakses, memahami dan memberikan instruksi eksperimen yang jelas. Dengan demikian e-book ini berimplikasi pada kualitas pembelajaran laboratorium yang lebih adaptif terhadap kebutuhan digital, berpotensi menjadi media pembelajaran interaktif yang mendukung efektivitas laboratorium dan dapat dikembangkan lebih lanjut untuk alat laboratorium lainnya. Development of an e-book guide to basic physics laboratory experiments as an interactive learning tool Abstract: Using a basic physics laboratory has a vital role in improving the competence of Physics Education students at Manado State University. However, the limitations of a systematic and easily accessible experimental guide are often an obstacle to effective practicum implementation. This research aims to develop a FlipHTML5-based experiment guide e-book as an interactive learning tool for students. The method used is the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Product validation was carried out by 7 reviewers using questionnaire instruments on material, language, and media aspects, while practicality was tested on 20 students. The analysis results show that this e-book is very feasible, with an average score of each aspect above 4.20, and very practical, with an average score of 4.40. PEKA RASA makes it easy for students to access, understand, and provide clear experimental instructions. Thus, this e-book has implications for the quality of laboratory learning that is more adaptive to digital needs, has the potential to become an interactive learning media that supports laboratory effectiveness, and can be further developed for other laboratory equipment.

Abstract

The conservative energy principle is one of the fundamental concepts in physics used to understand closed mechanical systems. This research aims to analyze the application of the conservative energy principle through a qualitative approach in the loop trajectory on a simple roller coaster. The research method used is descriptive analysis, with information collected through literature study on the loop trajectory as well as concept analysis and formulation of study results. The analysis results explain that the law of conservative energy can explain how the mechanical energy in the system is maintained while going through the loop trajectory by reviewing important parameters such as normal force, minimum speed, radius of the loop trajectory, and minimum height.

Abstract

SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) is a statistical analysis software widely used in quantitative research. A socialization program on SPSS usage for students of the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural and Earth Sciences (FMIPAK) at Manado State University (UNIMA) aimed to enhance their understanding and skills in data processing, result interpretation, and overcoming challenges such as limited statistical uses and software access. The activity was conducted through three main stages: introduction to the SPSS interface, technical training (descriptive analysis, parametric and non-parametric tests), and consultation sessions to address specific student inquiries. Active participation indicated high enthusiasm, with evaluation results showing an improved ability to operate SPSS and interpret analytical outputs independently. Technical issues, such as internet connectivity during software downloads, provided lessons for future event preparations. This program not only supports academic tasks (e.g., thesis completion) but also equips students with analytical competencies relevant to professional settings. Training programs are necessary to strengthen mastery of modern statistical tools, ensuring students are prepared for research challenges and competitive job market demands.

Abstract

This research aims to develop the test instrument that is feasible in terms of validity, reliability, and difficulty level and to identify students' misconceptions in simple harmonic motion concepts. The development stages used in this research were the modifications result from Oriondo & Dalo-Antonio, which included: (1) planning and design development, (2) trying out, and (3) measurement and interpretation of results. The instrument has been developed and categorized as effective because it is declared valid and reliable based on the criteria of the lowest and highest limit of the INFIT MNSQ which is 0.77 and 1.30, all test items are fitted with the PCM model, and the instrument's reliability has an item reliability value of 0.73 with a good category. The test instrument was applied to 60 students of the tenth-grade of senior high school. Based on the results, the four-tier test instrument developed was able to identify students' conceptual understanding of 36.4%, and 17.7% of students only understood parts of concepts, 40.7% of students experienced misconceptions, and 5.2% of students did not know the concept. The biggest misconception occurred in the subtopic frequency of simple harmonic motion by 75%, the relationship of the rope length with the pendulum vibration period by 60%, and 58.3% about the relationship between the total spring constant and the spring frequency. The instrument developed in this research was able to detect students' misconceptions, especially student learning experiences about simple harmonic motion

Abstract

Atap Tongkonan Tanete, rumah adat masyarakat Toraja di Sulawesi Selatan, merupakan warisan budaya yang kaya akan nilai filosofis dan estetika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis struktur atap Tongkonan dari perspektif sains, khususnya melalui konsep kesetimbangan benda tegar dan integral. Untuk menganalisis prinsip-prinsip fisika dan matematika yang mendasari desainnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif – deskriptif yang menggabungkan observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan pemangku kepentingan lokal, dan studi literatur tentang arsitektur Tongkonan dan prinsip-prinsip fisika. Data dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak GeoGebra untuk memodelkan bentuk atap sebagai fungsi kuadrat dan menghitung luas area bawah serta panjang kurva dengan menggunakan integral. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa bentuk lengkung atap Tongkonan memastikan distribusi beban yang merata. Analisis ini membuktikan bahwa kearifan lokal masyarakat Toraja dalam membangun Tongkonan mengintegrasikan prinsip-prinsip fisika dan matematika.

Abstract

Metacognitive awareness is essential in fostering students' ability to regulate their own learning processes, especially in complex subjects like analytical chemistry. This study investigates the effectiveness of a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Blended Learning in enhancing metacognitive awareness among university students in the topic of UV-Vis spectroscopy. Using a quasi-experimental design, two groups were compared: an experimental group receiving PBL combined with Blended Learning, and a control group receiving conventional PBL. Data collection involved pretest and posttest cognitive assessments, metacognitive awareness questionnaires, and observation of student engagement on the Edmodo platform. The results demonstrate significant improvement in the experimental group’s posttest cognitive scores (mean = 85.59) compared to the control group (mean = 77.37), with effects also observed in metacognitive awareness and self-regulation skills (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that integrating Blended Learning into the PBL framework can effectively enhance cognition, metacognitive skills, and student motivation in chemistry education. The study encourages the adoption of this blended instructional strategy and further research on its wider applicability.

Abstract

The local wisdom of Angklung as a cultural heritage is utilized in physics learning to bridge abstract concepts. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach using Angklung in improving the conceptual understanding of sound intensity and cultural appreciation of high school students. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group model in two classes, namely experimental and control at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. The experimental group used a CRT-Angklung based module that linked the physics principles of sound intensity with cultural values, and the control group used conventional learning. Results showed a significant increase in concept understanding in the experimental group (N-Gain=59,8%) compared to the control group (49,2%), with 81% of experimental students reaching the high category in cultural appreciation. Student participation observations also recorded higher enthusiasm (93%) in the experimental group during Angklung practice. These findings prove that integrating local culture through CRT not only overcomes physics misconceptions, but also strengthens students’ cultural literacy, supporting contextual learning relevant to Merdeka Belajar policy.
