Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate a measurement instrument assessing teachers’ attitudes and motivation toward the implementation of a Student-Centered Learning (SCL)-based curriculum in primary schools in Timor-Leste. Employing a quantitative approach, the research involved 200 teachers from 15 schools that had adopted the SCL curriculum. Data were collected through a survey designed to evaluate teachers’ perceptions regarding the benefits of SCL, the challenges encountered, and the support received from educational institutions. An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted to identify the underlying factor structure of the instrument items. This analysis helped determine the optimal number of factors and categorized the items based on distinct dimensions. Following EFA, a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed to validate the alignment of the items with pre-established theoretical constructs, ensuring the instrument’s validity and reliability. The results indicate that teachers' attitudes and motivation toward SCL vary, with a majority expressing a positive outlook on the curriculum, recognizing its potential to enhance student engagement. Nevertheless, concerns remain regarding the lack of sufficient resources and professional training to effectively implement SCL strategies. These findings highlight the critical role of positive teacher attitudes and strong motivation in the successful implementation of SCL, where teachers serve as key facilitators in the learning process. By producing a valid and reliable instrument, this research provides valuable empirical data on the factors influencing SCL implementation in Timor-Leste. The outcomes are expected to inform policymakers and contribute to improving education quality through more targeted and supportive measures for teachers in developing country contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the drill method in improving Japanese speaking skills in nursing for students who plan to work in Japan. The subjects of this study were 36 students from the Undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery Program at ITEKES Bali, who attended the Japanese Language Center class in the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques such as questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The results showed that most students had difficulty in mastering and pronouncing nursing-related vocabulary in Japanese and showed low learning motivation. The application of the drill method, which emphasizes repeated practice through conversation or role-playing, was proven to be effective in helping students remember and pronounce vocabulary correctly. These findings confirm that the drill method is effective in improving speaking skills and motivation to learn Japanese for nursing purposes. Based on the results of the questionnaire, out of 36 students, 32 showed motivation to learn Japanese, while only 4 reported lack of motivation, generally due to uncertainty about work in Japan. This motivation is influenced by internal and external factors. Students who have high motivation to work in Japan show greater enthusiasm for learning the language. It is hoped that this study can be a reference for educators in choosing appropriate and innovative teaching strategies.

Abstract

Constructivism theory is an approach aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum that positions students as active subjects in constructing knowledge through meaningful learning experiences. This research aims to describe the implementation of constructivism learning theory in differentiated learning strategies in Class V MI Al-Ma`had Roudlotul Huda. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques through observation of learning activities, interviews with class teachers, and documentation of lesson plans. The implementation of constructivist theory in differentiated learning strategies within the Merdeka Curriculum for 5th grade at MI Al Ma'had Roudlotul Huda shows positive results, especially in accommodating kinesthetic learning styles. Learning is designed so that students do not just passively receive material, but actively build understanding through direct activities such as projects, experiments, simulations, and environmental observation. Students with kinesthetic learning styles are given space to explore learning material physically and concretely, making learning more meaningful and aligned with their learning characteristics. Teachers act as facilitators who design a learning environment rich in experience, support collaboration, and encourage students to reflect on the knowledge they construct themselves. Thus, the application of constructivism learning theory in differentiated learning strategies is proven to support the achievement of the Merdeka Curriculum's goals, especially in shaping students who are independent in learning and developing according to their potential.

Abstract

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) strategy is one of the relevant student-centered learning approaches in integrating the values of the Pancasila Student Profile into the learning process. At SDI Darussalam Dungmas, this strategy has been applied in learning the Al-Qur'an Hadith as an effort to improve the profile of Pancasila students. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning strategy in strengthening the values of the Pancasila Student Profile at SDI Darussalam Dungmas. The study used a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observations of learning activities and interviews with religious teachers. The results showed that the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) strategy in learning the Al-Qur'an Hadith, especially the hadith material about piety, succeeded in activating active student involvement in the learning process. Through the stages of PBL, starting from problem identification, group discussions, to presentations and evaluations, students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and understand religious values in depth. In addition, PBL activities also foster an attitude of mutual cooperation, independence, and the practice of piety values in everyday life. Thus, the PBL strategy implemented at SDI Darussalam Dungmas is able to build student character according to the profile of Pancasila students. Therefore, it is suggested that the PBL strategy can be applied more widely, especially at the elementary education level as a means to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students.

Abstract

This article aims to explore and analyze the implementation of the managerial values of Prophet Muhammad SAW within the framework of contemporary Islamic education management. The Prophet is recognized not only as a messenger of Allah but also as an exemplary leader and manager who successfully established a civilized society based on divine guidance and universal humanitarian values. This study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach through a literature review of both classical and modern references, including works by George R. Terry, Imam Machali, and Mujamil Qomar. The findings indicate that the leadership principles of Prophet Muhammad SAW—such as shiddiq (truthfulness), amanah (trustworthiness), tabligh (communication), fathanah (wisdom), as well as musyawarah (consultation) and istiqamah (consistency)—greatly contribute to building effective and ethical Islamic educational leadership. These values remain highly relevant for today’s educational leadership in facing globalization, moral decline, and the challenges of digital transformation. By adopting the Prophet’s prophetic values as a managerial and educational role model, Islamic educational institutions can achieve governance that is both professional and spiritual. Therefore, mainstreaming these prophetic managerial values is a strategic necessity for navigating contemporary educational dynamics.
