Abstract

Student learning activeness is one of the important factors that influences the success of the learning process in elementary schools. However, in practice, students' involvement in learning activities is often still low due to the use of less varied teaching methods that tend to be teacher-centered. One alternative that can be used to address this issue is the utilization of educational games as learning media. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of educational games as learning media in improving elementary school students' learning activeness through a literature review approach. The research employed a qualitative method using a literature study design. Data were collected from various scientific articles, national journals, and relevant literature discussing the use of educational games in learning. Data analysis was conducted through data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing based on the findings of previous studies. The results of the literature review indicate that educational games are highly effective in enhancing students’ learning activeness. Increased activeness is reflected in students’ participation in asking questions, engaging in discussions, answering questions, collaborating with peers, and actively participating in various learning activities. In addition, educational games contribute to improving students’ learning motivation, learning interest, self-confidence, and learning outcomes. Various forms of educational games, such as modified monopoly games, educational snakes and ladders, interactive games, Kahoot, Quizizz, and local culture-based learning media, have been shown to create more engaging, interactive, and enjoyable learning environments. Therefore, educational games can be considered an effective learning medium for enhancing the learning activeness of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the integration of local Minangkabau culture in arts learning based on the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by analyzing ten scientific articles published between 2022–2026, selected based on their relevance to the research topic. The findings indicate that the integration of Minangkabau culture in arts learning at the elementary school level is carried out through various forms, including: learning traditional performing arts such as randai and talempong pacik, internalization of customary values such as Sumbang Duo Baleh and the bajamba eating tradition, development of locally-based teaching modules, and implementation through the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) within the Merdeka Curriculum. The integration of Minangkabau culture has been proven to have a positive impact on strengthening student character, increasing cultural resilience, creativity, and appreciation for traditional arts. However, challenges remain, such as limited teacher competence, scarce locally-based teaching materials, and the influence of digital popular culture that shifts students' interest away from regional arts. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for teachers, researchers, and policymakers in developing arts learning that is contextual, innovative, and supportive of the preservation of Minangkabau local culture in elementary schools.

Abstract

In the Society 5.0 era, education is required to utilize digital technology to create engaging, creative, and student-centered learning processes. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Canva visual media on the Arabic vocabulary mastery of eighth-grade students at SMP IT Imam Asy-Syafii 2 in Pekanbaru. This study employs a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 23 eighth-grade students. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, student response questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test via SPSS 25, as the data were non-normally distributed. The null hypothesis (H₀) was that there would be no increase in scores from the pretest to the posttest following the intervention, while the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was that there would be an increase in scores from the pretest to the posttest following the intervention. Additionally, the N-Gain test was employed to measure the level of effectiveness of using Canva. The research results indicate an increase in students’ mastery of Arabic vocabulary following the use of the Canva visual media. The pretest mean score of 62.26 increased to 94.48 on the posttest. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, so H₁ was accepted and H₀ was rejected. Additionally, the N-Gain test result of 0.85 falls into the high category, indicating that the Canva visual media is effective in improving students’ mastery of Arabic vocabulary. Students also responded very positively to the use of Canva because learning became more engaging, interactive, and facilitated the understanding of Arabic vocabulary. This study contributes to the development of effective technology-based Arabic learning media that aligns with the learning characteristics of the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the instillation of the gotong royong character through Problem Based Learning (PBL) in fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 18 Surabaya. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a focus on the learning process, which includes cooperation, solidarity, and student responsibility in group activities. The research results show that at the organizational stage, there are still groups of students who are unable to cooperate optimally, marked by a lack of communication, individual dominance, and a lack of focus in discussions. At the group investigation stage, student solidarity has not fully developed because there are still students who are indifferent to other group members. Meanwhile, at the stage of developing and presenting their work and evaluation, student responsibility shows variation, with some groups performing well and others still needing improvement in completing tasks on time and presenting group work results. Overall, the implementation of PBL contributes to instilling the character of mutual cooperation, although strengthening in several aspects is still needed for it to develop optimally.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of discipline values through the Problem Based Learning model in Pancasila Education lessons in the 4th grade at SD Muhammadiyah 18 Surabaya. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method involving the fourth-grade teacher, students, and the school principal as research subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model. The research results show that the implementation of Problem Based Learning is beginning to shape students' discipline values through indicators of punctuality, adherence to rules, and learning responsibility. Students are starting to get used to attending lessons on time, following the teacher's instructions, reading the LKPD guidelines, discussing in groups, and completing tasks according to their respective responsibilities. However, there are still some students who are less consistent in adhering to the rules and completing tasks. Thus, the Problem Based Learning model can help gradually instill the value of discipline in students through active and contextual learning.
