The KIA book details for birth preparedness including estimated birth date, birth companion, place and assistant of delivery, savings and emergency cost for childbirth, vehicle preparation, blood donation, mother and baby equipment, important document, and plans to contraception method (KB). The result of the preliminary study showed that birth preparedness for pregnant women in the third trimester based on the KIA book is still low. The main aim of the study was to compare the description of birth preparedness for pregnant women in the third trimester based on the KIA book at Puskesmas Mentok, 2025. The type is research a quantitative descriptive observational design with a cross sectional study. The population consist of all pregnant women in the third trimester to visiting Puskesmas Mentok in March 2025 period, amounting to 50 respondents. Sampling was caried out using the total sampling technique. There are still around (8%) of pregnant women in the third trimester who are birth preparedness in a less than good approach. The risk of complicatons during pregnancy and childbirth is still high, one of which is when a pregnant woman experiences bleeding and requires special assistance in the form of a blood transfusion, but the pregnant woman does not yet have a candidate blood donation to prepare of emergencies.

Abstract

The use of intrauterine devices (IUDs) as a long-term contraceptive method remains low in Indonesia despite their high effectiveness and durability. Mothers' knowledge and attitudes greatly influence their decision to choose IUD contraception. This study aims to determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge and attitudes and the use of IUD contraception in the working area of the Lumpatan Community Health Center in 2025. An analytical survey with a case-control design using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 80 respondents (40 cases of IUD users, 40 controls who were not IUD users). Data were collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire with Chi-square analysis. 62.5% of respondents had good knowledge, 52.5% had a positive attitude, and IUD use was 50%. There was a significant association between knowledge (p=0.038) and attitude (p=0.020) with IUD use. Mothers with insufficient knowledge were three times more likely not to use IUDs, and negative attitudes increased the risk of not using IUDs by 5.3 times (OR=5.286). Knowledge and attitude play a crucial role in IUD use. Education and attitude interventions for mothers are recommended to increase IUD use.

Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage is the most common cause of maternal death. About 23-24% are caused by retained placenta. Suspicion of the presence of retained placenta can be identified by palpating the abdomen, to monitor contractions and uterine fundal height. Assessing uterine fundal height in postpartum women is one of the competency that must be achieved by Diploma III Midwifery graduates. This research was a cross sectional study with data collection techniques through observation to compare student’s competence to determine the uterine fundal height between the use of a silicone phantoom and a burtas phantoom. The research subjects were all 95 of 3rd semester students of the Diploma III Midwifery Study Program at the Health Polytechnic of Palembang. The research instruments were a silicone phantoom, a burtas phantoom and a checklist sheet. The research results showed that from the 95 students (100%) who used burtas phantoom to assess the uterine fundal height, 72 students (75.8%) were competen and 23 students (24.2%) were not competen to do the assesment. The p value was 0.001, it means that there was a difference in student’s competence in assessing uterine fundal height on the two phantooms. Students are more competen to asses uterine fundal height by using burtas phantoom than silicone phantoom. The OR value was 0.091. It means that using a silicone phantoom, the risk was 0.091x students not competen to assess the uterine fundal height compared to a burtas phantom Keywords: Burtas Phantoom, Student’s Competence
