AbstractBackground: The process of childbirth is identical to pain that can cause birthing mothers to feel anxious. When the mother in labor feels anxious, the body will spontaneously release catecholamine hormones, namely epinephrine and norepinephrine. This hormone can cause complications for both mother and fetus. One of the non-pharmacological methods that can be used to treat labor pain is the use of a birth ball. Purpose: of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of birth balls and the intensity of maternal pain at the Pratama Bhakti Clinic, Pekanbaru City. This type of research is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study were all mothers who gave birth normally at the Pratama Bhakti Clinic, Pekanbaru City for the period March-April 2017, totaling 31 people. The sample of this study amounted to 20 people who were taken by purposive sampling technique. Processing and analysis of data is carried out in a computerized manner. Results: of statistical tests using Mann-Whitney showed that there was a significant difference in pain intensity between the groups of mothers who gave birth using a birth ball and who did not use a birth ball (p = 0.000). Conclusion: In an effort to reduce labor pain, it is recommended that the Pratama Bhakti Clinic apply the use of birth balls as an alternative to reduce labor pain.

Background: According to WHO (2018) 8% of maternal deaths are caused by prolonged labor. The long duration of the second stage of labor is one of the factors that cause prolonged labor. For this reason, oral intake is recommended to meet the needs of the mother during labor. Giving glucose and honey as an oral alternative during labor was chosen because the time needed to become energy is relatively fast so that it can be given to mothers during labor and can provide oral intake for mothers in labor to accelerate the second stage and prevent prolonged labor. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of giving glucose and honey solution on the duration of the second stage of labor in Midwife’s Independent Practice Methods: This research is a quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design research method. 30 respondents based on inclusion criteria were divided into two groups and intervened with a solution of glucose and honey. The duration of the second stage of labor was observed for each respondent and analyzed through the unpaired T-Test. Results: The results of the unpaired T statistic test obtained a p-value of 0.021 (p-value <0.05). There were differences in the duration of the second stage of labor in respondents who were given honey and glucose solution. The average duration of the second stage of labor in the treatment group that was given honey was 5.14 minutes shorter than the group given the glucose solution. Conclusion: There is a difference in the duration of the second stage of primigravida labor in pregnant women who are given honey and glucose solution. Giving honey is more effective in accelerating the duration of the second stage of labor in primigravida at PMB Palembang in 2021

Premature rupture of membranes [PROM] is an early event in approximately one third of preterm births resulting in significant infant mortality and morbidity. The exact mechanism by which the fetal membranes weaken and rupture in term and preterm pregnancy is unknown. However, it has been hypothesized that the fetal membranes weaken and eventually rupture as a result of collagen remodeling and apoptosis. Some studies have speculated that vitamin C supplementation during pregnancy will be useful in the prevention of PROM but some studies have also shown that vitamin C supplementation does not affect normal fetal membrane remodeling processes leading to weakening and rupture of the fetal membranes. This literature review discusses the role of Vitamin C in the prevention of PROM, where the role of vitamin C can induce collagen degradation and apoptosis. The assumption that vitamin C supplementation may be a prophylactic regimen for premature PROM should be investigated further. Caution should be exercised in using vitamin C supplements to prevent PROM in pregnant women. This literature review discusses the role of vitamin C in preventing premature rupture of membranes.

Anemia or lack of blood is characterized by normal hemoglobin (Hb) levels, occurs in certain population groups including young women, pregnant and lactating women, and people with chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus (DM) and others. Various kinds of food ingredients both from plants and animals that are useful for controlling hemoglobin levels, especially plants or animals that contain ferrous (Fe) can bind Hb in the blood. Among the plants that contain Fe are spinach vegetables with a composition of 9.2 mg/100gram. To determine the effect of spinach chips as a snack that is useful for increasing Hb levels, it is necessary to conduct research to believe in this hypothesis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of spinach chips on Hb levels in Diabetes Mellitus Patients at the Kadir Medika Clinic in 2020. The method used in this study was an experiment with a sample of 62 people consisting of a control group and an intervention group that had met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of this study indicate that spinach chips can increase Hb levels in patients with diabetes mellitus after being consumed for 10 consecutive days. However, in carrying out this diet there is still non-adherence to the patient following the research procedure so they were excluded from this study. The place of this research was at the Kadir Medika Clinic which was held from September 2020 to November 2020 Conclusion of this study was that spinach chips were consumed in a certain amount and within a certain period of time.
