Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of internal control on fraud in public fund management and to investigate the mediating role of accountability in this relationship. An explanatory quantitative research design was employed using a total sampling technique involving 45 public officials responsible for fund management. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with WarpPLS 7.0 to evaluate both direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The findings demonstrate that internal control has a significant effect on fraud, while also significantly enhancing accountability. In addition, accountability significantly influences fraud and serves as a significant mediating variable in the relationship between internal control and fraud. These results indicate that strengthening internal control systems promotes higher accountability among public officials, which in turn contributes to reducing the risk of fraudulent practices in public fund management. The study provides empirical evidence supporting the importance of integrating robust internal control mechanisms with accountability practices to improve governance quality. The findings offer practical implications for policymakers and public sector administrators by emphasizing the need to reinforce internal control frameworks and accountability systems as strategic instruments for preventing fraud and promoting transparent, accountable, and sustainable financial governance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in fostering students’ critical thinking skills in Islamic Religious Education. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed to explore the learning process and its influence on students’ critical thinking development. The participants consisted of two Islamic Religious Education teachers and three tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling to represent high, moderate, and low levels of classroom participation. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, two classroom observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis involving coding, categorization, and theme development, while credibility was ensured through source and method triangulation as well as member checking. The findings indicate that PBL was implemented through contextual problem presentation, collaborative group work, information investigation, class presentations, and reflective discussions. This learning model stimulated students’ ability to identify problems, justify arguments, consider multiple perspectives, and relate Islamic values to real-life situations. Nevertheless, improvements in critical thinking were not equally distributed, as some students still encountered difficulties in evaluating source credibility, constructing logical conclusions, and actively participating in discussions. The effectiveness of PBL was influenced by the quality of learning problems, teacher scaffolding, group role allocation, information literacy, and a supportive classroom environment. These findings imply that PBL should be implemented systematically, continuously, and adaptively to optimize students’ critical thinking skills in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has transformed consumer purchasing behavior by increasing exposure to exclusive experiences and encouraging emotionally driven decision-making. In Indonesia's premium bus transportation sector, intensive digital interactions among members of the Bismania community may stimulate Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), leading to impulsive ticket purchases. This study aimed to examine the effect of FoMO on impulsive purchasing behavior toward premium bus tickets among Bismania members. A quantitative explanatory design was employed using purposive sampling, involving 164 respondents who completed a structured online questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, assumption testing, and simple linear regression. The results showed that FoMO has a positive and statistically significant effect on impulsive purchasing behavior (β = 1.060, p < 0.001), explaining 50.5% of the variance (R² = 0.505). These findings extend the application of the Stimulus–Organism–Response (S–O–R) theory to premium transportation services and demonstrate that FoMO is an important psychological determinant of impulsive purchasing. Practically, the findings provide guidance for premium bus operators to develop ethical and effective digital marketing strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to explore teachers’ strategies for strengthening students’ religious character through Aswaja activities and to examine the supporting and inhibiting factors as well as the impacts of these activities on students’ character development. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving school leaders, teachers, and students selected through criterion-based purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion verification. The findings revealed that teachers strengthened students’ religious character through integrated strategies involving systematic planning, religious habituation, teacher modelling, and leadership-oriented learning. The implementation of Aswaja activities was supported by institutional commitment, teacher collaboration, and a strong religious school culture, although several challenges emerged related to students’ motivation, preparedness, and technical limitations. Furthermore, Aswaja activities contributed to improving students’ religious discipline, responsibility, leadership, self-confidence, communication skills, and social awareness. This study implies that Aswaja-based character education can serve as an effective approach for integrating religious values with students’ personal and social competency development in vocational education contexts.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction represents a fundamental measure of healthcare service quality, yet prolonged registration procedures and inefficient administrative processes continue to undermine patients' experiences in hospital settings. In response to these challenges, DR. Drs. M. Hatta Brain Hospital in Bukittinggi introduced the My Hatta online registration system as part of its digital transformation initiative to improve service accessibility and operational efficiency. This study investigated the influence of the My Hatta online registration system innovation on patient satisfaction. A quantitative associative design employing a cross-sectional approach was adopted. Data were obtained from 100 patients selected through accidental sampling using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with IBM SPSS. The findings revealed that the innovation of the My Hatta system was perceived positively (TCR = 83.08%) and exerted a significant positive effect on patient satisfaction (β = 0.793, p < 0.001), accounting for 62.9% of the explained variance (R² = 0.629). Patients who perceived the application as useful, easy to use, compatible with their needs, capable of enhancing the hospital's image, and providing observable benefits reported higher levels of satisfaction. These findings demonstrate that effective digital innovation is a critical driver of patient-centered healthcare quality in specialized hospitals. The study advances the literature by extending the application of the Technology Acceptance Model and innovation theory within specialized healthcare contexts while offering practical insights for optimizing digital registration systems and strengthening patient-oriented healthcare management.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore EFL university students’ experiences of using English podcasts as a resource for developing listening skills. A qualitative descriptive research design was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of students’ experiences, perceptions, benefits, and challenges in podcast-based listening learning. The participants were fourth-year English Education students who regularly listened to English podcasts as part of their independent learning activities. Data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire and analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s (2021) thematic analysis approach. The findings revealed four main themes: experiences of using English podcasts, the influence of podcasts on listening development, advantages and challenges of podcast use, and students’ perceptions of podcasts. Students reported that podcasts supported their listening comprehension, familiarity with different accents and speaking rates, vocabulary development, pronunciation improvement, and confidence in understanding spoken English. Although students encountered challenges related to fast speech, unfamiliar vocabulary, slang expressions, and accent variations, they developed strategies to overcome these difficulties. The findings imply that podcasts can serve as flexible and meaningful digital learning resources that promote authentic language exposure and support independent listening development among EFL learners.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the social environment, peer groups, and the reward and punishment system on student discipline. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto research design was employed to investigate the relationships among the variables. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to students and analyzed using validity and reliability testing, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, partial significance (t-test), simultaneous significance (F-test), and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results demonstrate that the social environment, peer groups, and the reward and punishment system each have a positive and statistically significant influence on student discipline, both individually and collectively. Among these factors, a supportive social environment and constructive peer interactions strengthen students’ adherence to school rules, while the consistent implementation of a fair reward and punishment system reinforces disciplined behavior. These findings suggest that student discipline is shaped not only by individual factors but also by external social and institutional influences. The study implies that schools should establish collaborative partnerships with families and the wider community while implementing consistent disciplinary policies to create a positive educational environment that promotes sustainable disciplinary behavior and supports students’ character development.
