Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of food quality and halal labels on customer loyalty through customer satisfaction at the McDonald’s West Jakarta branch. The population in this study consisted of Muslim consumers who purchased products from the McDonald’s West Jakarta branch at least twice within six months and were aged between 17 and above 35 years old. The sampling method used was non-probability sampling, resulting in a total sample of 105 respondents. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with SmartPLS. The results indicate that food quality and halal labels have a positive effect on customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction also has a positive effect on customer loyalty. Furthermore, food quality and halal labels positively influence customer loyalty. Customer satisfaction acts as an intervening variable in the relationship between food quality, halal labels, and customer loyalty.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of DPD candidates and political trust in the General Elections Commission (KPU) on community voting behavior during the re-voting election (Pemungutan Suara Ulang/PSU) for the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of West Sumatra Province in Sangir District, South Solok Regency. The re-voting election was conducted based on the Constitutional Court Decision Number 03-03/PHPU.DPD-XXII/2024, which mandated a re-election due to procedural errors committed by the KPU in compiling the Final Candidate List (Daftar Calon Tetap/DCT). This study employed an associative quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires using a four-point Likert scale and analyzed using multinomial logistic regression. The sample consisted of 100 respondents registered in the Permanent Voter List (Daftar Pemilih Tetap/DPT) in Sangir District and selected through simple random sampling. The results indicate that the candidate variable (X1) does not have a significant effect on voting behavior (Chi-Square = 2.271; p = 0.943). Political trust in the KPU (X2) also does not have a significant effect (Chi-Square = 7.439; p = 0.385). Simultaneously, both variables do not significantly influence voting behavior (p = 0.271). The Nagelkerke R² value of 0.157 indicates that the model explains 15.7% of the variation in voting behavior.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is an essential aspect of learning English as it forms the foundation for developing other language skills. However, many students still face difficulties in mastering vocabulary due to unengaging teaching methods and low learning motivation. This study aims to determine the effect of using the Busuu application on students’ vocabulary mastery at SMP Negeri 20 Kota Bengkulu. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two classes: VII.D as the experimental class and VII.F as the control class, with a total of 62 students. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test administered through pre-test and post-test, and the data were analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that the experimental class experienced a more significant improvement compared to the control class. The mean score of the experimental class increased from 32.77 in the pre-test to 57.65 in the post-test, with score ranges improving from 12–54 to 28–80. Meanwhile, the control class showed an increase from a mean score of 29.77 to 46.19, with score ranges from 13–53 to 20–70. The t-test results revealed a t-value of 3.625 with a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two classes. Furthermore, the ANCOVA results showed an F-value of 44.092 with a significance of 0.001 and a Partial Eta Squared value of 0.599, indicating a strong effect size. In conclusion, the use of the Busuu application is effective in improving students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Rising production costs have become a serious challenge for culinary Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jambi City, particularly due to limited capital and competitive pressures that prevent business operators from raising selling prices directly. This study aims to analyze the impact of rising production costs on business operations and profitability, as well as to identify the adaptation strategies employed by culinary MSME operators in response to these conditions. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through semi- structured interviews with six culinary MSME operators in Jambi City, including sellers of Sate Padang, Gado-gado, Siomay, Batagor, Es Tebu, Es Pisang Ijo, and Es Doger. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, and data validity was verified through triangulation. The findings reveal that all business operators experienced a direct impact from rising production costs, particularly in plastic packaging, primary raw materials, and supporting materials, which ultimately led to a decline in daily net income. The adaptation strategies implemented include reducing product portions without raising prices, switching to more economical packaging, sourcing alternative suppliers, and utilizing social media as a promotional tool.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed people’s consumption patterns from offline to online shopping, including in rural areas. This study aims to analyze shifts in consumer behavior in meeting clothing needs between online shopping and MSME tailoring services, as well as their impact on the sustainability of tailoring businesses in Petajen Village. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through semi-structured interviews involving MSME owners, employees, and consumers. The findings reveal that online shopping is preferred due to its ease of access, wide variety of products, relatively affordable prices, and promotional offers available on e-commerce platforms. However, local tailoring services still maintain a market segment for formal wear, family clothing, uniforms, bridesmaid dresses, as well as customization and size-adjustment services. The impact experienced by MSMEs is not only reflected in the decline of new clothing orders but also in the emergence of new opportunities, such as alteration services for clothing purchased online. The adaptation strategies implemented by MSMEs include utilizing social media, maintaining the quality of tailoring results, following fashion trends, and preserving personal relationships with customers. Thus, MSME tailoring services are not entirely replaced by e-commerce; instead, they have transformed into complementary services that rely on quality, size precision, and personalized customer service.

Abstract

Technological fluctuations and changes in government policies have created significant challenges for organizations in formulating relevant and adaptive strategies, particularly regarding vision, mission, and strategic goals. This article aims to examine how these three elements should be adapted to continuously evolving external factors, such as technological advancements and government policies. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study analyzed 25 selected articles obtained from the Google Scholar and Emerald Insight databases. The findings reveal that organizations that successfully integrate external factors into their vision, mission, and strategic goals tend to be more effective in formulating responsive and flexible strategies. The study also highlights the importance of developing more dynamic strategic formulations, especially in addressing digital transformation and uncertainties in government policies. The main findings of this review indicate that organizations must pay greater attention to external factors in their strategic planning in order to survive and grow in an increasingly complex environment.

Abstract

This study analyzes the causes and impacts of cigarette addiction among adolescents in Simpang Village, Seluma Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with eight informants (adolescents, parents, and village officials), and documentation studies. The findings identified three main factors contributing to cigarette addiction: internal factors (curiosity and the search for comfort), peer influence (the most dominant factor), and a permissive social environment with easy access to single-stick cigarettes sold at affordable prices starting from IDR 1,000 per stick. Adolescents generally begin smoking between the ages of 14 and 15. The impacts of cigarette addiction are multidimensional, covering health, psychological, social, educational, and economic aspects, with the prevalence of adolescent smokers in the village reaching approximately 80%. The study concludes that adolescent smoking behavior in Simpang Village has developed into a systemic issue that requires integrated interventions from various stakeholders, including families, schools, village governments, and local health institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and profitability on firm value in mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2022–2024 period. This research uses a quantitative approach with secondary data obtained from annual reports, financial statements, and sustainability reports. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, resulting in 30 observations. Data analysis was conducted using panel data regression with the Random Effect Model (REM) as the selected model. The results show that partially, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) does not have a significant effect on firm value, while profitability has a significant positive effect on firm value. Simultaneously, CSR and profitability have a significant effect on firm value. The coefficient of determination indicates that the independent variables explain 26.73% of the variation in firm value, while the remaining 73.27% is influenced by other variables outside the model. These findings suggest that profitability plays a more important role in influencing firm value compared to CSR in the mining sector.

Abstract

The low level of creative reading ability and literacy creativity among junior high school (SMP) students is a fundamental problem in Indonesian Language learning. PISA 2022 data placed Indonesia at 69th out of 81 countries with a reading score of 359, well below the OECD average of 476. Meanwhile, conventional reading corners (pojok baca), as the main instrument of the School Literacy Movement (GLS), are considered suboptimal due to limited collections, low interest among digital-native students, and the absence of interactive approaches. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of digital flipbooks as literacy media, identify the limitations of conventional reading corners, design a flipbook-based digital reading corner model, and describe its implementation at the junior high school level. The method used is a library research approach with content analysis of 15 accredited journal articles published between 2021–2025. The results show that digital flipbooks have multimodal, interactive, and flexible characteristics relevant to Generation Z's learning styles. The designed flipbook-based digital reading corner model includes four components: digital content curation, reading day sessions, creative reflection, and digital literacy portfolios. Implementation of this model in Grade VIII Indonesian Language learning significantly improved student engagement and creative reading ability. These findings confirm that integrating flipbooks into a digital reading corner ecosystem is an adaptive and sustainable literacy strategy in the digital era.
