Abstract

The dynamics of the death penalty in Indonesia have undergone significant changes in tandem with the revision of the Criminal Code (KUHP). The death penalty is the oldest form of punishment, involving the taking of the life of a perpetrator of a serious crime, and has been part of the Indonesian legal system from the era of kingdoms to the modern era. The implementation of the death penalty in Indonesia has evolved, ranging from traditional methods to executions by firing squad in accordance with statutory regulations. The reform of criminal law in Indonesia has become an increasingly urgent necessity in light of social developments, technological advancements, and the increasingly complex and diverse nature of crime. Law No. 1 of 2023 on the new Criminal Code (KUHP) serves as a comprehensive effort to replace the colonial-era Criminal Code and align the national criminal justice system with the current conditions of Indonesian society. This study aims to examine the current policy on the formulation of the death penalty in Indonesia’s criminal legislation and to analyze the envisioned legal framework regarding the death penalty in Indonesia for the future. The application of this punishment has sparked a heated debate between those who support it viewing the death penalty as a deterrent and an exceptional tool for crime prevention—and those who oppose it on the grounds of human rights violations and the risk of injustice. The methodology used in this study is juridical-normative, utilizing secondary data from legal regulations, literature, and academic journals. The approach applied is a conceptual one, analyzing the discussion from the perspective of relevant theories and concepts. The analysis is conducted qualitatively by examining the application of the death penalty model from the perspective of criminal law theory. This approach reflects an orientation toward rehabilitation and respect for human rights.

Abstract

The halal bihalal tradition after Eid al-Fitr is a socio-religious practice that has developed within Indonesian Muslim society and embodies various character education values. This tradition functions not only as a means of strengthening social ties (silaturahmi), but also as a medium for internalizing religious, social, and moral values in community life. This study aims to describe the character education values contained in the halal bihalal tradition and the process of their internalization in social life. The study employed a library research approach by examining various written sources relevant to halal bihalal, character education, and Islamic culture. Data collection was conducted through documentation techniques by reviewing literature related to the focus of the study. The data were analyzed qualitatively using content analysis techniques to identify, classify, and interpret character education values within the halal bihalal tradition. The findings reveal that the halal bihalal tradition contains values of religiosity, tolerance, empathy, togetherness, social responsibility, and mutual respect. These values are internalized through habituation, role modeling, and social interactions occurring during halal bihalal activities. In addition, this tradition also plays a role in strengthening social piety and fostering harmonious relationships among individuals and community groups. Halal bihalal serves as an effective culture-based character education medium because it is carried out contextually and involves all levels of society. Therefore, the halal bihalal tradition after Eid al-Fitr has an important contribution to the formation of religious, tolerant, and socially harmonious character in community life.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of regional economic development planning as outlined in the 2024–2029 Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of West Nusa Tenggara Province. The study focuses on three regional development priority sectors, namely poverty alleviation, food security enhancement, and tourism development as strategic sectors supporting regional economic growth. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of regional development planning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis of the RPJMD, regional government reports, data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and relevant scientific literature. Informants were selected using purposive sampling and included officials from the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of West Nusa Tenggara Province as well as academics with expertise in development planning. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which consists of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the economic development planning contained in the West Nusa Tenggara RPJMD 2024–2029 has been systematically and integratively designed through an inclusive development approach based on local potential. Poverty alleviation policies have demonstrated positive progress, as reflected in the decline in the number of people living in poverty during the 2024–2025 period. In terms of food security, development policies have focused on improving food production, distribution, and downstream processing, although regional disparities remain evident. Meanwhile, the tourism sector has contributed to local economic growth through the development of tourism villages and the strengthening of community-based creative economies. The effectiveness of development planning is influenced by bureaucratic capacity, the quality of development data, inter-agency coordination, community participation, and the availability of regional financing support.

Abstract

Illegal mining is a criminal act in the mining sector that causes state losses and has an impact on environmental damage and social life of the community. In law enforcement, judges have an important role in making decisions by considering the legal aspects and socio-economic conditions of the perpetrators. This study aims to determine the factors causing the crime of illegal mining in Pesawaran Regency and the judge's considerations in deciding the case based on Decision Number: 237/Pid.Sus/2025/PN TJK. The research method used is normative and empirical juridical with data obtained through literature studies and interviews. The results of the study indicate that the factors causing illegal mining include economic factors, low legal awareness, complicated licensing processes, weak supervision, and high market demand for illegal mining products. The judge's considerations are based on trial facts, fulfillment of the elements of the crime, evidence, as well as the defendant's socio-economic conditions and the environmental impacts caused. Thus, the judge's considerations not only focus on legal certainty but also pay attention to aspects of justice and legal benefits.

Abstract

This research analyzes the inner feelings and emotions reflected in Alan Walker’s selected songs entitled “Faded,” “Alone,” and “Darkside.” The study aims to identify the emotional expressions contained in the lyrics and explain how Alan Walker reflects his personal experiences and emotional conditions through his songs. This research applies a qualitative descriptive method using a biographical approach and expressive theory proposed by Abrams. The primary data consist of the lyrics from the selected songs, while supporting data are obtained from Alan Walker’s biography, interviews, and documentary videos discussing his musical career and personal experiences. The findings reveal that the songs contain dominant emotional themes such as sadness, loneliness, confusion, struggle, fear, anger, and hope. The lyrics represent emotional instability, feelings of alienation, and the search for identity, which are closely related to Alan Walker’s experiences as an international musician facing rapid success and social pressure at a young age. Through symbolic language, metaphors, repetition, and emotional expressions, Alan Walker communicates his psychological experiences and emotional struggles to listeners. This research concludes that song lyrics function not only as entertainment but also as a medium for emotional expression, self-reflection, and artistic communication. Furthermore, this study contributes to literary studies by demonstrating that popular music lyrics can be analyzed as literary works that reflect personal experiences, emotional conditions, and human psychological realities.

Abstract

The Village Fund policy, which is based on Law Number 6 of 2014, represents a form of fiscal decentralization from the central government to villages aimed at promoting equitable development and improving community welfare. This study aims to examine the implementation of Village Funds, analyze the practices of local elite domination in their management, and evaluate the application of village governance and accountability principles. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach and was analyzed using the theories of elite capture and power reproduction proposed by Pierre Bourdieu. The findings indicate that the administrative implementation of Village Funds has generally followed existing procedures and contributed to infrastructure development and community empowerment in rural areas. However, in practice, the dominance of local elites is still evident through control of information, influence in village deliberations, and patronage relationships that strengthen certain power positions. On the other hand, the principles of transparency, participation, and accountability have been implemented normatively, yet their application remains suboptimal due to limited access to information, low levels of public understanding, and weak supervisory functions. Therefore, Village Funds function not only as instruments of rural development but also as spaces for the reproduction of local elite power. Consequently, strengthening community participation, improving transparency, and reforming village institutions are necessary to ensure that Village Fund management becomes more democratic and accountable.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of plant parts and their functions through the use of illustrated flashcards among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 4 Manukaya. The study was motivated by students' low level of understanding, which was attributed to conventional teaching methods and the limited use of engaging instructional media. The research employed the ADDIE instructional design model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The participants were 19 fourth-grade students. The findings indicate that the use of illustrated flashcards enhanced students' classroom participation, learning interest, and conceptual understanding. This was reflected in increased student engagement during the learning process and evaluation results showing that most students achieved scores above the Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC). In addition, the flashcard media had positive effects on students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes. Therefore, it can be concluded that illustrated flashcards are an effective instructional medium for improving students' understanding of plant parts and their functions.

Abstract

Religious moderation has become an important issue in Islamic education, particularly in strengthening students’ attitudes of tolerance, inclusiveness, and social harmony within multicultural societies. This study aims to analyze the reinforcement of religious moderation values through Fiqh learning at MAN 1 Surakarta. The research focuses on three main aspects, namely the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Fiqh learning in strengthening students’ moderate religious attitudes. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of Fiqh teachers and twelfth-grade students of the regular program at MAN 1 Surakarta, while the vice principal for curriculum affairs served as the key informant. Data validity was examined using source triangulation and method triangulation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing based on the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that the reinforcement of religious moderation values in Fiqh learning was systematically integrated into learning objectives, teaching materials, learning methods, and classroom interactions. Teachers introduced differences among Islamic schools of thought as a means to cultivate tolerance and respect for diversity. The learning process was carried out dialogically and reflectively through discussions, contextual explanations, and the habituation of respectful attitudes. In addition, the evaluation process emphasized not only cognitive achievement but also students’ social attitudes and daily behavior. The study concludes that Fiqh learning at MAN 1 Surakarta plays a significant role in shaping moderate, tolerant, and inclusive students through continuous integration of religious moderation values in both classroom learning and the broader madrasa environment.
