Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of excipient variations on tablet dissolution profiles and the underlying mechanisms. The research method used was a literature review by examining scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026. Literature sources were obtained from Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and relevant national and international journals. The analysis was conducted descriptively and comparatively on the use of excipients such as binders, disintegrants, lubricants, and surfactants in tablet formulations and their effects on dissolution parameters. The review results showed that the type of excipient significantly affects the dissolution profile of tablets. Binders can improve the mechanical strength of tablets but may slow down dissolution, while disintegrants accelerate tablet disintegration and increase the dissolution rate. Lubricants such as magnesium stearate may inhibit liquid penetration due to their hydrophobic properties, whereas surfactants can enhance drug solubility and accelerate the dissolution process. In addition, the concentration and combination of excipients also influence porosity, tablet hardness, wettability, and drug release mechanisms. Therefore, the selection and optimization of excipients are crucial in developing tablet formulations with optimal dissolution profiles and therapeutic effectiveness.

Abstract

Occupational stress is a physical or psychological reaction that occurs when job demands are unbalanced with an individual's ability to cope. This condition is often experienced by outpatient registration officers who are required to provide fast, accurate service, and deal with a fluctuating number of patients every day. This study aims to determine the factors influencing occupational stress among outpatient registration officers at Madani General Hospital, Medan, in 2025. This study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with five informants, as well as direct observation to strengthen the findings in the field. The results showed that occupational stress is influenced by several factors, namely the work environment (cleanliness and noise), workload (number of patients and demands from patients' families), superior support (direct interaction with superiors and assistance during difficulties), working hours (regularity of working hours and availability of rest periods), and salary (relationship with work enthusiasm and motivation). An unclean and noisy work environment due to building renovations was the main trigger for discomfort. In addition, the increased workload on certain days and high demands from patients and families added to psychological stress. Although some officers felt supported by their superiors and received adequate rest periods, aspects of work well-being were still considered suboptimal. Researchers concluded that work stress among outpatient registration staff is a complex problem influenced by both environmental and organizational factors. Hospital management needs to take strategic steps to improve the work environment, manage a balanced workload, and provide motivation and recognition to staff to improve mental well-being and the quality of healthcare services.

Abstract

This systematic literature review aims to evaluate the formulation characteristics and Sun Protection Factor (SPF) activity of lotions containing various plant leaf extracts, which were tested in vitro using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause various skin disorders, such as redness, premature aging, and an increased risk of skin cancer. With the growing interest in natural cosmetics, plant extracts containing flavonoids, phenolics, and tannins are increasingly being developed as active ingredients in natural sunscreens. Used in the final formulation. The study results indicate that leaf extracts from several plants, such as Nephelium lappaceum, Muntingia calabura, Crassocephalum crepidioides, and Carica papaya, possess UV-absorbing capabilities that are influenced by the extract concentration in the formulation. The most commonly used lotion formulation is an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion with a combination of emulsifiers such as stearic acid and triethanolamine, which play a role in maintaining the physical stability, pH, viscosity, spreadability, and homogeneity of the preparation. The resulting SPF values vary, with the highest value approaching 30 in the 10% rambutan leaf (Nephelium lappaceum) extract lotion, placing it in the ultra-protection category. The UV-protective activity of the leaf extract is believed to be related to its polyphenol content, which can absorb UV radiation and help reduce sunburn. Based on the study results, the leaf extract-based lotion has the potential to be developed as a natural sunscreen. However, further research is still needed, particularly in vivo testing, irritation testing, photostability testing, and long-term stability testing to ensure the safety, efficacy, and stability of the formulation.

Abstract

Household waste is solid waste generated from daily human activities and domestic processes within households. This study aims to analyze the relationship between community knowledge and household waste management behavior in Tipulu Village. The research applied a descriptive quantitative approach involving 30 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The findings showed a p value of 0.062, indicating that there was no significant relationship between community knowledge and household waste management behavior in Tipulu Village. Most respondents demonstrated good knowledge regarding waste management; however, their behavior in managing household waste remained only moderate. This condition was influenced by several factors, including habitual practices, limited waste management facilities, low motivation, and insufficient environmental support. The study highlights that knowledge alone is not enough to encourage proper waste management behavior. Therefore, increased environmental education, community awareness programs, and government support in providing adequate waste management facilities are necessary to create a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.

Abstract

Solid waste management is still a major issue in supporting environmental sustainability in higher education institutions. Campus activities produce various types of waste that should be sorted directly from the source to support more effective waste management. This study aimed to examine the effect of the availability of separated waste bins on the effectiveness of waste sorting in the university environment. This research used a quantitative approach with a survey design involving 53 students who had knowledge of or experience in using separated waste bin facilities on campus. The data were collected online and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics through validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and simple linear regression tests. The results showed that the research instruments were reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.867 for variable X and 0.934 for variable Y. The data were normally distributed and had a linear relationship. The simple linear regression test showed that the availability of separated waste bins had a positive and significant effect on waste sorting effectiveness, with a significance value of 0.000 and a regression coefficient of 0.670. These findings indicate that the provision of accessible, clearly labeled, and adequate separated waste bins, accompanied by continuous education, can encourage better waste sorting behavior in academic environments.

Abstract

Background: Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) is the process of initiating breastfeeding within the first hour after birth and plays an important role in improving maternal and infant health. Although it is a priority health program supported by government policy, its implementation remains suboptimal. Primiparous mothers are a vulnerable group due to their lack of prior childbirth and breastfeeding experience, which often leads to difficulties in implementing IMD. Objective: This study aims to explore the experiences of primiparous mothers in implementing IMD. Method: A qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was conducted involving seven primiparous mothers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through face-to-face in-depth interviews, recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Four main themes were identified: knowledge of IMD (including understanding, stages, and process), support from husbands, family, and midwives, barriers to IMD (such as stitching procedures, strong maternal attachment, and lack of experience), and emotional responses including happiness, fear, curiosity, and emotional reactions during implementation. Conclusion: Successful implementation of IMD requires optimal support from midwives, husbands, and families, covering biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects to minimize barriers among primiparous mothers.

Abstract

Academic performance in children can be influenced by various factors, including lifestyle behaviors such as diet. The quality of healthy and sustainable diets plays a crucial role in brain development and cognitive function among schoolchildren. Therefore, improving dietary habits to achieve optimal diet quality may be associated with better academic outcomes.  This study aims to examine the association between diet quality and academic performance in a population of children. The research design was undertaken across four electronic databases, such as Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect, for studies published between 2015-2025. The inclusion criteria were studies conducted among school-aged children (5–13 years) that assessed and reported: (i) a measure of diet quality, (ii) a measure of academic performance, and (iii) the association between diet quality and academic performance. Most of the studies reviewed were cross-sectional in design (n = 7). The majority of the findings reported a positive association between diet quality and academic performance, with higher diet quality generally linked to better academic outcomes. However, one study found that this correlation was stronger in boys than in girls. These findings highlight a consistent relationship between diet quality and academic performance in children. It is recommended that schools implement nutrition education and provide healthy food programs to support children's academic performance.

Abstract

Early Initiation of Breastfeeding is the process of breastfeeding a baby immediately after birth, where the baby is allowed to find his mother's nipple by himself, which is done at least one hour immediately after birth. Failure to implement early initiation of breastfeeding can have an impact on increasing the high mortality and morbidity rates. Therefore, an analysis is needed on the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding practices on the success of Exclusive Breastfeeding. This study aims to explore the experience of implementing early breastfeeding initiation (IMD) practices in mothers in labor towards the success of exclusive breastfeeding at the Labuan Bajo Community Health Center. This research method is qualitative using a phenomenological approach with an exploratory design. Interviews were conducted with 7 informants with data analysis using Collaizi with the stages of transcribing the recording results in verbatim form, assessing the accuracy of the interview results, familiarizing the data, selecting keywords that will be used as subthemes and themes, writing all analysis results in narrative descriptive form from the research results, and rechecking (validating) the informants. The study found that mothers had both positive and negative perceptions regarding the benefits of early breastfeeding. They also received support from their husbands, families, and midwives. The barriers they encountered included access to healthcare facilities and a lack of knowledge about early initiation of breastfeeding. They also hoped that healthcare facilities would hold counseling sessions and classes for pregnant women.
