Abstract

Deforestation rates of forest areas due to over functions of the area are one of the causes of declining production of natural forest timber. The Government of Indonesia via Ministry of Environment and Forestry made the solution to meet the needs of timberwith the development of centers of wood production from private forests. This study aims to identify potential areas of community forests that have comparative advantages for development priorities in Central Java. The data used is the growth of private forest area in Central Java Province during 2011-2015. Data analysis using Location Quotient (LQ) and Specialization Quotient(SQ) method. The result of the research showed thatthe community forest sector in Central Java is not a specialized sector. There are 18 regencies/cities as potential forest area are Purbalingga District, Kendal District, Salatiga City, Purworejo District, Banjarnegara District, Sukoharjo District, Cilacap District, Sragen District, Pekalongan District, Wonogiri District, Temanggung District, Magelang District, Wonosobo District, Karanganyar District, Boyolali District, Batang District, Banyumas District and Pati District with total area of 456,575.85 Ha which can be a priority in developing communityforest in Central Java.

Abstract

DKI Jakarta Province is a major consumer area in Indonesia. Due to almost all of the beef demand was supplied from other province and even different islands. One of problems regarding inter-island beef cattle distribution was using cargo ship that has not equipped with special facilities for livestock transportation. Accordingly government make the first investment of livestock vessel namely KM Camara Nusantara (CN) I to smooth livestock distributionto DKI Jakarta Province. The investment cost is very high. Therefore this research is intended to analyze the investment feasibility of livestock vessel KM CN I on nonfinancial aspects, financial and economic analyses. Nonfinansial aspect analysis reviewed from market, technical, management and legal, social economic and culture, and environment aspects. Financial and economic analyses use Cost and Benefit Analysis (CBA) which is economic analyses use shadow price. Nonfinancial aspects analysis indicates that the investment is feasible. Financial analysis show that the investment is not feasible based on NPV<0 for both route scenarios when returning to Tenau without cargo or carrying feed cargo. Meanwhile economic analysis for the livestock vessel, which is returning with feed cargo to Tenau is feasible based on NPV>0, B/C Ratio>1, IRR>discount rate and Payback Periode is 13.11 year.

Abstract

Corn-SoybeanJajar legowoisone way to maximize an agricultural land productivity with limited land and cost conditions. The purpose of this study was to estimatethe profitability and feasibility of corn monoculture farming and legowointercropping system of corn -soybean system in Seluma District. Survey of 28 cornmonoculture and4 corn-soybeanLegowo system were conducted to collect data on cost and production incurred in their farming activities.. The results of this study indicate that costs incurred by farmers who apply the jajar legowo corn -soybean system increase from Rp. 7,810,000 to Rp. 10,662,490. However, the difference in costs incurred is followed by differences in income or profits from farming, i.e.,Rp. 6,189,333 for corn farming and Rp. 11,848,510 for corn-soybean jajarlegowointercropping–system. Corn-soybean legowo is relativelyefficient with a B / C ratio of 1.83

Abstract

The aims of the research are to 1) determine factors that affect the production of sweet potato, 2) to determine the level of allocative efficiency of sweet potato production inputs. The location of this study was determined purposively, in the Subdistrictof Hulu Palik, North Bengkulu Regency with consideration that in Hulu Palik Subdistrict is the biggest producer of sweet potato in North Bengkulu Regency. Census of 92 farmers carried out to gather data on sweet potato farming. Data analysis used multiple linear regression method using Cobb-Douglas production function and allocative efficiency analysis. The results showed that the factors of production of land area of sweet potato seeds and phonska fertilizer had a significant and positive effect on sweet potato production. Results The analysis of allocative efficiency shows the Marginal Product Value of the production factor of land area, sweet potato seed and phonska fertilizer greater than one. This means that the use of phonska production factors for land area, seeds, and fertilizer is not yet efficient

Abstract

Jangkat District is one of the districts which is the center for producing rice in Merangin Regency. Determination of the research’s location was conducted  purposively, namely Muara Madras Village and Pulau Tengah Village, which are the two villages with the largest rice field planting area in Jangkat District. Sampling in this study using the simple random sampling method or a simple random method in which all of population has the opportunity to be used as a research sample and obtained as many as 57 samples. The purpose of this study were (1) To determine the benefits of lowland rice farming in Jangkat District, Merangin District and (2) to determine the contribution of lowland rice farming to household income of farmers in Jangkat District, Merangin Regency. Profit analysis results show that the average revenue of farmer on rice farming is Rp. 10,749,401/ha. While the average total cost, both real and calculated, is Rp. 8,098,506/ha. So that the average profit obtained from rice farming is Rp. 2,650,895/ha. Contribution of lowland rice farming to household income is only 4.63%. While the contribution of coffee farming revenue was 7.53%, potatoes 69.78%, and chili 18.06%. Which means that rice farming contributes the smallest compared to other farms.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of palm tree tapper and its effect on the amount of sap production. The study was carried out in the Danau Liang Village in Lebong Tengah District, Lebong Regency through a survey involving 45 palm tappers in May 2013. Data collected were characteristics of palm tappers (independent variables) consisting of age, education, experience, family dependents, number tapped trees, and number of trees, and the dependent variable is the production of sap. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using multiple linear regression. The results showed that the average age characteristics of palm tappers were as follows: age 38.24 years, education level was only junior high school level, number of dependents of family of 3 people, experience tapping palm 14.84 years the number of trees tapped 28 stems, age of trees which was intercepted 8.07 years, the number of the widows was 2 pieces, and the length of interception was 1.86 hours. The characteristics of tapping variables that have a significant effect on the amount of sap production are the number of sugar palm trees controlled by tappers and the age of the tapped trees. Keywords: Aren, Tapper Aren, Palm Sugar Palm
