Abstract

Staphyococcus aureus bacteria is one of the bacteria that contaminates crispy chicken meat and can cause Extraordinary Events or Kejadian Luar Biasa (KLB) in Indonesia as a cause of diarrhea. This is due to lack of hygiene in processing, storing and serving crispy chicken. Poisoning can occur due to food contamination by S. aureus enterotoxin. The aim of the research was to analyze the prevalence and identify the presence of S. aureus bacteria found in crispy chicken meat in the Amplas area of Medan city using Rabbit Coagulase Plasma with EDTA. Method for identifying S. aureus using BPA (Baird Parker Agar Base) and Egg Yolk media. Specific identification testing using Gram staining, catalase test, and coagulase test using Rabbit Coagulase Plasma with EDTA. The value of S. aureus bacterial contamination using the TPC (Total Plate Count) method and analysis of the prevalence of S. aureus contamination. The results of research on roadside cart krispy chickens were found to be positive for S. aureus with characteristics of Gram positive, positive coagulase and positive catalase as well as contamination values above 1X102 CFU/ml exceeding the threshold so they do not meet SNI standards. Meanwhile, the local fast food crispy chicken value for the presence of S. aureus bacteria does not exceed the threshold of 1X102 CFU/ml so it meets SNI standards. The prevalence value of S. aureus contamination in roadside cart krispy chicken was 75.0% and local fast food was 8.3%.

Abstract

Heavy metal contamination in vegetables poses a threat to humans, especially at predetermined thresholds. In this study, Pb, Cd, and Hg metals were analyzed using Flame - Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (F-AAS) and Vapor Generation Accesory - Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (VGA-AAS) methods at mining areas in Krueng Sabee Sub-District, Aceh Jaya District, Aceh Province. Method validation was conducted to obtain accurate heavy metal analysis results on the samples. The results showed that the highest Pb metal contamination was found in cassava leaf I sample with levels of 2.44 ± 1.33 mg/Kg and the lowest was found in spinach III sample with levels of 0.15 ± 0.07 mg/Kg. The high Pb content was also found in kale I and spinach I samples obtained in areas close to the mining area with levels of 1.07 ± 0.59 mg/Kg and 0.93 ± 0.50 mg/Kg, respectively. The highest Cd metal contamination content was found in kale II samples with levels of 0.11 ± 0.01 mg/Kg and the lowest Cd metal contamination with levels of 0.02 ± 0.01 mg/Kg was found in cassava leaf II samples. The highest Hg metal content of 0.58 ± 0.12 mg/Kg was found in cassava leaf I sample and the lowest level was 0.04 ± 0.02 mg/Kg owned by spinach III sample. Contamination of Hg metal in all vegetable samples showed levels that were above the established SNI 7387 (2009) quality standard of 0.03 mg/Kg. The quality standards for Pb and Cd metal contamination are 0.5 mg/Kg and 0.2 mg/Kg, respectively.  This study shows the need for government monitoring of heavy metal contamination in agricultural areas near mining activities to ensure safe food consumption.

Abstract

Sex drive is what everyone needs to have a beautiful and harmonious sex life. Decreased sex drive is one of the factors that cause discord in relationships between men and women, and sexual dysfunction is a major concern. In Indonesia, this sexual disorder is most prevalent in men with a prevalence rate of 10% (all ages combined) and more than 50% occurs in the age group 50-70 years. The aim of this study was to determine the aphrodisiac effect of the extract by looking at several parameters, namely mount latency (ML), intromission frequency (IL), ejaculation latency (EL), mount frequency (MF), intromission frequency (IF), and ejaculation frequency (EF). This study used an experimental method with a post-test modified randomized control group design with 15 male white rats and 30 female white rats divided into 3 treatment groups with a ratio of (1: 2), each group consisting of 5 male rats and 10 female rats. Normal control group (NaCMC 0.5%), positive control group (X-Gra 52.5 mg/kgBB), and control test clove leaf extract sample at a dose of 250 mg/kgBB. Administration of extracts and comparators was only given to male white rats for 30 days. The results of this study indicate that clove leaf extract contains secondary metabolites of flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, tannins, and strong antioxidants. The administration of clove leaf of extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg body weight showed a significant difference between the positive group and clove leaf of extract with a value of P < 0.05, this indicates that clove leaf of extract has aphrodisiac activity.

Abstract

The development of drugs in the form of combination tablets at this time has increased a lot; combining drugs in a tablet preparation can provide an increasing reaction and ability. This makes combining drugs such as Paracetamol and caffeine an effective combination in the pharmaceutical field. Paracetamol is an antipyretic analgesic drug that can be combined with caffeine which can be used in therapy with a combination of these drugs. The objective of this research was to ascertain the concentration of a combination of paracetamol and caffeine in a tablet formulation by employing a zero cross-derivative spectrophotometric method. In this study, solvent optimization was carried out with 17 categories of solvent selection, and acetate: methanol (30:70) was selected using the zero cross-derivative methods with a dA / d plot utilizing the maximum wavelength of paracetamol 258 nm and caffeine 288 nm, because there was an actual wavelength shift in this analysis. To validate the determination of the level of the zero cross-derivative method using the second absorption in the ace solvent (30:70 acetate: methanol). Spectrophotometric analysis of zero crossing derivatives of a mixture of paracetamol and caffeine found that paracetamol levels in tablet A were 95.24 8.47%, in tablet B of 92.86 0%, and in tablet C of 96.5 0%, while the caffeine content was 104.89 0%, 102.09 0%, and 91.6 0%. According to USP 30 NF 25 (2007), it can be concluded that the test results of the composition of paracetamol and caffeine in tablets meet the requirements.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is caused by excessive production and/or poor elimination of uric acid. Kencur (Kaempferia galanga L.) and black ginger (Kaemperia parviflora) can be utilised as antihyperurisemic alternatives because their flavonoids block xanthin oxidase (XO). The study determine the efficacy of black ginger ethanol extract (EEJH) as an in vivo antihyperuricemic agent. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of kencur ethanol extract (EK) dan black ginger ethanol extract (EEJH) as an antihyperuricemia in vivo. A complete random design used involving 32 mice in 8 groups. Negative control (CMC Na 0.5%); positive control (Allopurinol 10 mg/kgBW); EK and EEJH respectively 12.5; 25; and 50 mg/kgBW. Hyperurisemia was induced by chicken liver juice 4 mL/200 gBB p.o. and potassium oxonate 250 mg/kgBB i.p. UA monitoring was carried out before induction, 0, 7, and 14 days after treatment. Tukey post hoc tests and ANOVA were used to evaluate the data. The results indicate that both of EK and EEJH can reduced UA (p<0.05) however the reduction is significant with Allopurinol (P<0.05). Thus, it can be inferred that the EK and EEJH have potential for enhanced antihyperurysemic in decreasing the UA.
