Abstract

Salah satu jenis rumput laut yang memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi adalah Eucheuma alvarezii Doty, yang mengandung senyawa kimia steroid/triterpenoid. Steroid merupakan salah satu golongan senyawa metabolit sekunder yang cukup penting dalam bidang medis.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui mengetahui kandungan kimia senyawa Eucheuma alvarezii Doty, dan isolasi senyawa steroid/triterpenoid  dari rumput laut Eucheuma alvarezii Doty.Penelitian ini meliputi skrining fitokimia, ekstraksi dilakukan secara perkolasi, kemudian ekstrak yang diperoleh di Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT), selanjutnya dilakukan isolasi secara Kromatografi Kolom (KK), uji kemurnian dengan Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) dua arah dan isolat yang diperoleh diidentifikasi secara Spektrofotometri Ultraviolet (UV) dan Spektrofotometri Inframerah (IR).Hasil skrining fitokimia simplisia Eucheuma alvarezii Doty mengandung senyawa steroid/triterpenoid, glikosida, dan saponin dan isolat yang diperoleh dianalisis secara spetrofotometri sinar UV memberikan absorbansi maksimum pada panjang gelombang 206,80 nm menunjukkan adanya gugus kromofor dan hasil spektrofotometri sinar IR diketahui adanya gugus OH, –CH alifatis, C=O, CH2, CH3, C-O, dan C=C.Analisisis isolat menunjukkan bahwa isolat yang diperoleh adalah senyawa golongan steroid/triterpenoid

Abstract

Daunnya berkhasiat sebagai stimulan dan penyegar. Digunakan untuk mengatasi badan letih dan lemah sehabis sakit berat. Kulit buahnya berkhasiat sebagai stimulan, berbau khas aromatik, rasanya agak asin, kelat, dan lama kelamaan agak pahit. Buahnya digunakan untuk mengatasi influenza, badan terasa lelah, rambut kepala yang bau, serta kulit bersisik dan mengelupas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak etanol daun jeruk purut dan daya hambat minimum pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental meliputi pembuatan ekstrak etanol daun jeruk purut dengan metode maserasi, skrining fitokimia, dan uji aktivitas ekstrak etanol daun jeruk purut terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli dengan menggunakan 12 konsentrasi yaitu 600 mg/mL, 500 mg/mL, 400 mg/mL, 300 mg/mL, 200 mg/mL, 100 mg/mL, 80 mg/mL, 60 mg/mL, 40 mg/mL, 20 mg/mL, Kontrol + (siproflaksasin) dan Kontrol – (etanol 80%). Pengujian daya hambat antibakteri dengan metode difusi agar menggunakan cakram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simplisia dan ekstrak etanol daun jeruk purut, mengandung senyawa golongan alkaloid,flavonoid,saponin,tanin, dan steroid/Triterpenoid. Uji Anova diketahui bahwa uji aktivitas bakteri Staphylococcus aureus konsentrasi 600 mg/mL, 500 mg/mL, 400 mg/mL, 300 mg/mL, 200 mg/mL menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna dan uji aktivitas bakteri Escherichia coli menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna pada konsentrasi 600 mg/mL, 500 mg/mL,400 mg/mL,300 mg/mL,200 mg/mL. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun jeruk purut memiliki aktivitas yang lebih baik dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan bakteri Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Noni contains alkaloids, flavonoids, tripertinoid, protein, lime, iron, carotene, glycosides antarkiron. The content of anthraquinin, scaloptin, flavonoid and adaptogen compounds are active compounds that have antifungal and antimicrobial effects. The antibiotics commonly used are antibiotics such as tetracycline, clindamycin and others. These chemical-based antibacterials have many negative side effects, therefore other alternatives are needed as antibacterials, one of which is by using noni. This study aims to analyze bioautography and determine the antibacterial activity of noni leaf ethanol extract against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.This research was conducted experimentally using noni leaf ethanol extract with concentrations of 30%, 40%, 50% as independent variables and bioautographic analysis and antibacterial activity as dependent variables. The bioautography analysis was performed using TLC and the antibacterial activity test was performed using paper discs.The results of antibacterial testing of noni leaf ethanol extract with a concentration of 30% had an inhibition zone of 8.36 mm with a medium category, a concentration of 40% had an inhibition zone of 10.3 mm with a strong category and a concentration of 50% had an inhibition zone of 11.1 mm in a strong category. positive control tetracycline 30µg had an inhibition zone of 20.8 mm which was categorized as very strong. The results of the bioautography test using contact bioautography using the mobile phase of chloroform: n-hexane (7:3). The inhibition zone was obtained at an Rf value of 0.17, and the characteristics of the chromatogram spots were carried out by spraying 10% FeCl3 suspected that the spots were flavonoid compounds.

Abstract

Curry leaf (Murraya koenigii (L) Spreng) is one of the plants known to have antibacterial compounds. Curry leaves are also known as temurui leaves and are useful as a natural food flavoring. Curry leaves contain flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, calcium, zinc, riboflavin, folic acid. This study aimed to analyze the bioautography and antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of curry leaves against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The research method was carried out experimentally. Curry leaf simplicia extract was made with 96% ethanol as solvent. Curry leaf ethanol extract was made in various concentrations, namely 30%, 40% and 50%. The positive control used was Tetracycline HCl and the negative control was DMSO. The tests carried out on curry leaf simplicia included phytochemical screening, macroscopic examination, microscopic examination, water content examination, examination of water soluble extract content, examination of ethanol soluble extract content, examination of ash content and examination of acid insoluble ash content, bioautographic analysis he results of phytochemical screening showed that curry leaves contain secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, steroids/triterpenoids, and glycosides. The results of the antibacterial activity showed that curry leaves could be used as antibacterial because they had strong inhibition at concentrations of 30%, 40% and 50%, namely 10.3 mm, 11.7 mm and 13.6 mm against P. acnes bacteria. The results of bioatuography showed that the Rf value in the clear zone was 0.17 with a ratio of chloroform:n-Hexane (8:2) on the chromatogram spots by spraying 10% FeCl3 positive for flavonoid compounds which were marked in black.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pengetahuan masyarakat di Tanjung Morawa tentang bahaya penggunaan berulang minyak jelantah bagi kesehatan dan ketidaktahuan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan minyak jelantah menjadi produk yang bernilai guna seperti sabun cuci padat. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah ceramah, diskusi, demonstrasi, dan praktek. Sosialisasi tentang bahaya penggunaan berulang minyak jelantah bagi kesehatan dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah dan diskusi. Cara pembuatan sabun cuci padat dari minyak jelantah dilaksanakan dengan metode demonstrasi dan praktek oleh peserta kegiatan. Setelah kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan, pengetahuan peserta akan bahaya penggunaan berulang minyak jelantah bagi kesehatan dan cara membuat sabun cuci padat dari minyak jelantah, meningkat sebesar 39,25% dibandingkan sebelum mengikuti kegiatan. Adanya sabun cuci padat yang dihasilkan oleh peserta kegiatan menunjukkan kegiatan pengabdian ini telah berhasil dilakukan dengan baik.

Abstract

Kesehatan adalah factor yang sangat penting dalam tumbuh kembang suatu Negara. Desa Sidomulyo yang terletak di Kecamatan Biru-Biru Kabupaten Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara dengan mayoritas pendidikan dan penghasilan menengah serta berusia aktif sangat rentan dengan keadaan sakit, maka dari itu perlu dilakukan suatu kegiatan untuk membantu masyarakat dalam menjaga dan meningkatkan kesehatannya dengan cara memberikan pengetahuan tentang cara menjaga dan meningkatkan kesehatan. Pegagan adalah salah satu tumbuhan herba yang mempunyai banyak manfaat, salah satunya adalah mampu menjaga dan meningkatkan imun tubuh. Pemanfaatan pegagan sebagai imuno candies karena candies (permen) hampir disukai oleh semua kalangan masyarakat dari anak-anak hingga orang dewasa sehingga diharapkan dengan mensubsitusi sari pegagan ke dalam candies, manfaat pegagan dapat dinikmati oleh semua kalangan masyarakat, metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah dengan memberikan pengetahuan tentang pembuatan dan pelatihan pembuatan permen keras sari herba pegagan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah berupa produk permen sari herba pegagan sebagai imuno candies dan peningkatan pengetahuan tentang pembuatan permen sari herba pegagan sebesar 33% serta peningkatan status kesehatan sebesar 25%. Kesimpulan: 1. Dengan memberikan informasi dan pelatihan kita dapat meningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat, 2. Permen sari herba pegagan (imuno candies) dapat digunakan untuk menjaga kesehatan.

Abstract

Chitosan is a modification of chitin compounds that are widely found in the outer skin of crustacean animals such as shrimp and crabs. This research includes isolation of chitin and chitosan: deproteination, demineralization, depigmentation and deacetylation namely transformation of chitin into chitosan, characterization of chitosan, FTIR, and chitosan toxicity test with five concentrations of test solution, namely 100 g/ml, 250 g/ml, 500 g/ml, 750 g/ml and 1000 g/ml using the BSLT method by looking at the number of deaths of Artemia salina L larvae (LC50). The results of tiger prawn shell chitosan (Penaeus monodon) obtained the % degree of deacetylation of 60%. The results of the toxicity test showed that chitosan was not toxic to Artemia salina Leach, indicated by the LC50 value > 1000µg/ml. chitosan windu 4994.16 g/ml, chitosan is not toxic

Abstract

Gaharu (Aquilaria malaccensis Lam.) is one of the natural ingredients that can be used as an antioxidant. Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit free radical reactions in the body. Free radicals have an impact on the pathogenesis of several diseases in humans due to oxidative stress in cells. The purpose of this study was to determine the class of secondary metabolites of agarwood bark and antioxidant activity and to compare the value of IC50 (Inhibitory concentrations) of the methanol extract of agarwood bark with the IC50 of vitamin C in the DPPH method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The methanol extract of agarwood bark was macerated using methanol, then determined the content of secondary metabolites of Simplicia. The determination of antioxidant activity was carried out on the methanol extract of agarwood bark with the addition of DPPH at various concentrations. The sample concentrations were 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 µg/mL.. As a comparison, vitamin C was used with concentrations of 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 µg/mL.. Then they calculated percent attenuation (% inhibition) and the value of IC50. The results of the screening on the methanol extract of agarwood bark contained chemical compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The determination of antioxidant activity was carried out using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with the DDPH method. The results were obtained from the methanol extract of the bark of agarwood, which has antioxidant activity in the strong category with an IC50 value of 94.59 µg/mL.and vitamin C in the very strong category with an IC50 value of 22,11 µg/mL.

Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f.) is widely used as an alternative medicine to treat various types of diseases and is now widely used as an antibacterial, one of which is against the acne bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. The purpose of this study was to determine the gel preparation of aloe vera extract (Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f.) which has activity against  Propionibacterium acnes and to see if the gel preparation produced has good and stable quality. Aloe vera ethanol extract was made by maceration method, then the extract was made in a gel preparation and then tested for antibacterial activity against  Propionibacterium acnes by the agar diffusion method using several concentration variations: 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. Furthermore, the inhibitory power of 2.5% has a medium category, the inhibition of 5% has a medium category, and the inhibition of 10% has a strong category. then tested for organoleptic, homogeneity test, pH dispersion and physical stability of the preparation. The results of the study showed that the gel preparation of aloe vera extract had antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes, namely a concentration of 2.5% inhibition zone of 8.8 mm including the medium category, 5% concentration of the inhibitory zone of 9.8 mm including the medium category, the concentration of 10 % with an inhibition zone of 12.9 mm including the strong category. The conclusion of this study is that the gel preparation of 10% aloe vera ethanol extract concentration has the best inhibition. Then the stability test was then carried out, which included, the organoleptic did not change significantly, the homogeneity test showed good results, while the dispersion test showed good results, and the pH test showed good results according to skin pH.

Abstract

Streptococcus mutans is one of the bacteria that plays an important role in the formation of dental caries. One of the plants known to have antibacterial compounds are matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata J.R. Forst & G. Forst) family Sapindaceae. The objective of this research was to determine the antibacterial activity of matoa leaves ethanolic extract nanoparticles is better than matoa leaves ethanolic extract against S. mutans bacteria. The research method was carried out experimentally. Free variables, namely the concentration of matoa leaf ethanol extract (KEDM 25% ; KEDM 50%; and KEDM 75%) and the concentration of nanoparticles of matoa leaf ethanol extract (KNDM 2.5%; KNDM 5%; and KNDM 7.5%). Bound variables are antibacterial activity of ethanol extract and nanoparticles of matoa leaf ethanol extract against S. mutans bacteria. The nanoparticle size of the extract was characterized using a Particle Size Analyzer (PSA). Test of antibacterial activity of ethanol extract and matoa leaf ethanol extract nanoparticles against S. mutans using the diffusion method to Kirby Bauer. The result of the extract nanoparticle size characterization was 324.97 nm. Zone of Inhibition (ZOI) values of antibacterial ethanol extract of matoa leaves against S. mutans were 12.00 mm (KEDM 25%), 12.50 mm (KEDM 50%), and 12.60 mm (KEDM 75%). The antibacterial ZOI values of matoa leaf ethanol extract nanoparticles against S. mutans were 8.00 mm (KNDM 2.5%), 9.06 mm (KNDM 5%), and 10.10 mm (KNDM 7.5%). The conclusion is that ethanol extract of matoa leaves can be used as extract nanoparticles, where the extract nanoparticle concentration of 7.5% already has the ability of antibacterial activity that is close to the concentration of 25% ethanol extract, so that it can be said that the extract nanoparticle preparation can reduce the dose of a drug even though it is in the resistant category compared to Amoxicillin 25 g with the susceptible category.
