Lemma : Letters of Mathematics Education (2407-4527) (2460-1047) is a peer-refereed open-access journal which has been established for the dissemination of state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of mathematics education. This journal published twice a year (June and November) by Prodi Pendidikan Matematika STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat. All submitted manuscripts will be initially reviewed by editors and are then evaluated by minimum of two Reviewers through the double-blind review process. This is to ensure the quality of the published manuscripts in the journal. Lemma : Letters of Mathematics Education welcomes high-quality manuscripts resulted from a research project in the scope of mathematics education, which includes, but is not limited to the following topics: Realistic Mathematics Education, Design/Development Research in Mathematics Education, PISA Task, Mathematics Ability, ICT in Mathematics Education, Lesson Study for Learning Community, and Ethnomathematics. The manuscript must be original research, written in English or Bahasa Indonesia, and not be simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan berpikir peserta didik kritis melalui penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis Augmented Reality pada materi garis singgung lingkaran. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya keterlibatan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran matematika akibat penggunaan media yang kurang interaktif, sehingga kemampuan berpikir krtis belum berkembang secara optimal. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D). Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest , kemudian dianalisis menggunakan perhitungan N-Gain untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata N-gain yaitu 0,55 yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran matematika berbasis Augmented Reality efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on improving students’ mathematical problem-solving ability through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA protocol. Analysis of 15 relevant articles retrieved from Scopus (2015–2025) revealed a significant publication growth of 780% with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24%, reaching its peak in the period 2024–2025. VOSviewer analysis identified four main themes: problem solving, effect, development, and concept. PBL demonstrated a significant positive effect, with an N-gain of 0.708 in the experimental group compared to 0.22 in the control group (p<0.001). Effective factors in implementing PBL include problem orientation, structured group learning, integration of real-life contexts, metacognition, collaboration, and reflection. PBL also enhances affective aspects such as positive attitudes, perseverance, and student motivation. This study concludes that PBL is an effective learning model and is recommended for improving students’ mathematical problem-solving ability across various educational levels.

Abstract

Difficulties in solving System of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SLETV) remain a persistent challenge for junior high school students. This study investigated where and why those difficulties occur by mapping students' performance against the four stages of Polya's heuristic framework. A qualitative design with a phenomenological approach was adopted to capture the lived experience of 24 ninth-grade students at SMP Katolik Gonzaga Tomohon (odd semester, 2025/2026). Written problem-solving tests, unstructured phenomenological interviews, and classroom observation were employed as data sources; findings were cross-validated through technique and source triangulation as well as member checking. Achievement scores for the four stages were: understanding the problem 63.9% (good), devising a plan 45.8% (sufficient), carrying out the plan 58.3% (sufficient), and looking back 12.5% (very difficult). Two bottlenecks stood out: constructing a correct mathematical model of SLETV and selecting an appropriate solution method at the planning stage, and the near-complete absence of answer verification at the looking-back stage. Phenomenological interviews further revealed that students' obstacles are not confined to cognitive gaps; affective responses such as confusion, self-doubt, and fear of error especially when translating word problems into algebraic form substantially hindered systematic mathematical reasoning.

Abstract

Studi ini dirancang untuk mengkaji sejauh mana kecemasan muncul pada diri siswa ketika mengikuti pembelajaran matematika, serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor pemicunya. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif berjenis deskriptif. Pelaksanaan penelitian bertempat di SMP Negeri 3 Tondano pada semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2025/2026. Partisipan penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VII yang berjumlah 41 orang dari dua rombongan belajar (VII A dan VII B). Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan instrumen angket berskala Likert. Angket gejala kecemasan matematika mencakup empat dimensi, yakni dimensi fisiologis, kognitif, afektif, dan perilaku. Sementara itu, angket faktor kecemasan mengacu pada tiga aspek: disposisi kepribadian siswa, pengaruh guru, serta kondisi lingkungan dan sosial. Data angket kemudian diperkaya melalui wawancara mendalam dan penelusuran dokumentasi nilai akademik. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa hampir seluruh siswa menunjukkan tanda-tanda kecemasan; sebagian dari mereka mampu menghadapinya dan tetap mencapai prestasi yang memuaskan, sedangkan sebagian lainnya tidak berhasil mengendalikan kecemasan sehingga perolehan belajarnya terhambat. Dari seluruh gejala yang ditemukan, gejala kognitif terutama munculnya persepsi negatif terkait kemungkinan gagal dalam matematika merupakan yang paling dominan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the cooperative learning model of the Think Pair Share (TPS) type on mathematics learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Motoling Barat. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of class VII-A (N=20) as the experimental group and class VII-B (N=17) as the control group, selected through purposive sampling based on academic ability equivalence. The experimental class was taught using the TPS cooperative learning model, while the control class used conventional learning. Descriptive analysis showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class (79.75) was significantly higher than the control class (46.50). Based on the independent t-test, tcount= 13.23 > ttable = 2.03 at significance level 0.05. Therefore, H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted, indicating that student mathematics learning outcomes taught with the TPS cooperative learning model are significantly better than those taught through conventional learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Elektronik Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (e-LKPD) berbasis iSpring Suite pada materi garis dan sudut di SMP Negeri 7 Kotamobagu, serta mengetahui kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifannya. Penelitian menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 4 validator (2 ahli materi dan 2 ahli media) serta 20 siswa kelas VII. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar validasi ahli, angket respon siswa, dan soal posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) e-LKPD dinyatakan valid dengan persentase kevalidan materi 82,67% (kategori Sangat Valid) dan kevalidan media 82% (kategori Sangat Valid); (2) e-LKPD dinyatakan praktis dengan persentase respon siswa 87,86% (kategori Sangat Praktis); dan (3) e-LKPD dinyatakan efektif dengan ketuntasan belajar klasikal 90% (kategori Sangat Efektif) berdasarkan hasil posttest dengan nilai rata-rata 85,15. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa e-LKPD berbasis iSpring Suite layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran matematika yang valid, praktis, dan efektif.
